"[S]ome of the country's top doctors and professors... say that whole areas of research are off-limits. They say that top physicians are treating patients based on their race. That professors are apologizing..."

"... for saying ‘male’ and ‘female’ and that students are policing teachers. And in more than a few alarming instances, politics has come before patients. As one doctor put it: 'Wokeness feels like an existential threat.'"

I'm listening to this new episode of Bari Weiss's podcast. It features Katie Herzog.

This movement is a direct and literal precursor to an evolutionary extinction event. Mutations are natural experiments (physical, cognitive, ideological, etc.), and these occur with regularity. New human variants who reproduce have a pathway to continue into the future. Those who deny the mechanism of reproduction (i.e., male and female) without an alternative are doomed to die out.

Emphasizing race and gender inequities even as intermarriage rates rise, downplaying the value of motherhood, placing great value in abortion on demand, criticizing males for their biologically-programmed behaviors, emphasizing transgender needs, etc. serve to push simple but sustainable reproduction out and away from widespread use. Fewer babies are born, those who are born are spread out over time, and cognitive dissonance results in elevated mental health issues/anxiety in the young. This likely further limits reproduction in the next generation.

To forecast the future, ignore the talk of the day and count the possible size of the next generation within an ideological circle. Science and research were once used to break religious dogmas -- when new dogmas appear a new religion must arise from them. That new religion may well die out like the celibate Shakers largely did by the early 20th century.

Katie Herzog is a co-host of the excellent Blocked and Reported podcast. She and her co-host are both liberals who are disgusted by the infection of cancel culture invading the Left. It is both an informative and very funny podcast. I'd imagine most of your readers would love it (except for those who can't take a Trump joke every now and again.)

This development - which I think is fairly accurate - is all part of the lawlessness and denial of reality that the Left has created.

It is bad enough that Biden has opened the borders, but when doctors start denying basic biological science then we are in big, big trouble.

Big debate in Omaha about masks for school kids. Three metro districts require them. One big district is masks optional. There really is no question that masks are harmful to kids and do nothing. Aren't all the teachers vaxed?

I saw a video from China where four big trucks are driving down the road - in a straight line - shooting "disinfectant" into the area and onto the pavement. I'm expecting this to happen soon in LA, SF, Portland and NYC.

Never in a million years did I think America would be in such a place.

A very bad sign. The inversion of the student-teacher relationship is a precursor condition to the most vile, oppressive, and murderous social pathologies of the modern era, among them were the French revolutionary terrors(there were several, but especially the "gilded youth" movement), the Red Terror in post-tsarist Russia, Mao Zedong's "cultural revolution", and the Taliban regime in Afghanistan (taliban is a Pashtun word meaning students).

The outcome of this social inversion is remarkably predictable -- autocracy or socio-political regression from the nation-state to tribalism. Edmund Burke foresaw this clearly. Years before Napoleon Bonapart's name was known to anyone but a small circle of his fellow artillery officers, Burke predicted that the Revolution's purposeful chaos would be resolved by the advent of a dictatorship more powerful and all-pervasive than any Bourbon monarchy. (Some historians believe Burke was referring to Lafayette, though the connection is vague at best.) The subsequent careers of Stalin, Mao, Castro, and the Kim dynasty in North Korea prove Burke's prophecy even more clearly than Napoleon's Empire of the French.

Physicians treating patients based on their race is even more troubling. It suggests our future "man on a white horse" will be modeled on a certain vegetarian non-smoker
with a race-based grudge.

STEM professors have an effective tool to arrest this putrefaction of the university, but they must act quickly and decisively before they are purged.

I won't be listening to the podcast (could not be more bored by anyone on this earth than Bari Weiss, who has made a career out of writing about how the powerful are oppressed), but I hope it addresses the massive disparities currently and historically in access to and provision of quality health care by race and income in this country. It's hard to be heavily concerned about the feelings of doctors about wokeneas when on the whole they provide worse care to non whites.

More humans were aborted last year than died of COVID-19. And their life expectancies were far far longer. Indeed, from a societal reproduction point of view, the virus, by itself probably had no discernible effect - because most of those dying from it were no longer capable or interested in reproduction. It mostly has killed old people, or in lesser numbers the middle aged with significant comorbidities. What has affected the reproduction rate we’re the lockdowns. Those of reproduction age who weren’t able to get together.

Interestingly though around here in NW MT, we have a number of Anabaptist sects (Mennonites, Amish, etc) who don’t seem to be having any problems having kids. You see a minivan, and you can be fairly sure that it is drive by a woman in a full length hand made dress, with her hair up under a covering of some sort, with 3-4 happy well behaved kids on board. One guy, some sort of fundamentalist Lutheran, whom we have talked to about some carpentry, has 16 kids, the youngest younger than some of his grandchildren. Even the less obviously religious seem to be having kids just fine. The young adults here, as contrasted to their urban peers, worried about which sexual identity to try out, know what is inevitably important in life - producing and nurturing the next generation.

I'm almost daily amazed that we are only 80 years out from the Holocaust and only 55 years since the Red Guards showed us the value of letting the kids decide how your society should work. One would almost think humans never learn from history. I mean real history. The kind that happened before Zuckerberg was born.

Lem: "I may be off the mark, but, Wokeness feels like a mass psychosis. Doesn’t it?"

I think it's the vehicle being employed to foster mass psychosis in the more gullible sectors of our population. Specifically, it's goal seems to be to be normalization of critical race theory, acquiescence in the tyrannical demands for complete social obedience, ostracism for political wrong-think, spaces safe from competing ideas, silencing of political opponents, punishment for questioning of elites, and mass compliance for dictates from Marxist groups and allied bureaucratic agencies. Once those concepts are legitimized in the minds of the gullible acolytes, societal norms will have been destroyed and fear instilled in the confused and the ignorant. And we are almost there. If one thinks that is hyperbole, please explain how the faculty, students and administration of a large,(formerly?)respected public university came to believe that a 50 ton boulder was racist and $50,000 was urgently required to remove it from the location it had landed at the end of the last ICE Age. But, wokeism isn't the only indication of our psychosis. Consider the insanity required to kill the economy, add 8 trillion dollars to the national debt, destroy people's lives and livelihoods, and lock the citizenry up for months on end in the futile attempt to delay a virus's inevitable march through the population, thus also delaying herd immunity and treatment of more life threatening diseases. All for a virus with a lethality of around 18 per thousand (provided the victims were of sufficiently advanced age and a comorbidity didn't kill them first.) We're doomed if we don't don't eradicate this craziness.

BTW, thanks Lem for the link. Everyone should watch it to understand where we're headed.

Daniel12, has Bari Weiss "made a career out of writing about how the powerful are oppressed"? You mean Jews, right? The very existence of rich Jews means that there cannot be "prejudice" in people shooting up kosher delis, planning to plant pipe bombs in yeshivas, attacking random people with kippahs on the street, &c. Because Jews are fungible, yes? One's as good as another, and frankly the rich ones are a lot harder to attack than the deli-goers.

Katie Herzog was the best thing to happen to The Stranger. I have been a fan of hers for a long time. I encourage any and all that are interested to follow her podcast Blocked and Reported. She also has the ONLY podcast commercials I like, hilarious ads for a bidet. I consider her the successor to Christopher Hitchens and in the same league as Camille Paglia.

Who gives a crap about doctors’ feelings? It’s patients who are harmed by these practices, no matter their color. Teach doctors that it’s racist to screen African Americans for, say, sickle cell disease and more African Americans will die of sickle cell disease.

If I were a doctor I would bank as much cash as possible in the next couple of years and get out of the business.

I have two doctor friends and they are doing just that...mostly because of the onerous requirements of Obamacare.

It will suck for patients as both are very good at what they do and one is a very talented and in-demand surgeon.

And an outer ring with Brett Weinstein & Heather Heying, and Glenn Loury, Bari Weiss, and Tim Pool, and Jimmy Dore, and Scott Adams.
