"... and then riding with them to the United States Capitol — is just one of the snubs the Trumps are perpetrating as they leave Washington. Instead of a president and first lady, the Bidens will be greeted by the White House chief usher Timothy Harleth, according to a source familiar with the day's events and planning.... The Inauguration Day snub of the Biden's comes on the heels of a series of broken norms and childish behavior that comes directly from the President of the United States, who has been vocal about his disinterest in preserving any semblance of decency towards the man who will succeed him. Trump, according to several sources, is even mulling whether to write a letter to Biden to leave for him in the Oval Office, a standard-bearing tradition. Melania Trump, who has not been seen in public in more than two weeks, has not reached out to Jill Biden, dashing expectations she would continue the passing along of hospitality to her successor, hosting her for a tour. Even after contentious election cycles, first ladies and presidents have set aside hard feelings and ego, no matter how bruised, until now...."

John Adams left early too. I'd say Trump's in good company.

Alas, it is CNN crowing about how Trump is snubbing the Biden's, but if Pelosi and House Democrats had their way; Trump wouldn't be there anyway. Democrats have turned Impeachment into a kneejerk reaction to whatever claimed slight they want it to be. And consider Trump's first impeachment was about withholding aid to Ukraine, while less than 12 months later; Pelosi would crow about how she refused to negotiate aid to the American people that lost jobs due to coronavirus lockdowns. I see someone snubbing people, and it isn't Trump.

As I said below, the Trumps are reviving the tradition established by the admired Abigail and John Adams. And their son became president, too.

Does anyone think this is as funny as I do? Here is a better precedent.

The presidential election of 1828 was a rematch between John Quincy Adams, the incumbent, and Andrew Jackson, who’d been deprived of the presidency in 1824 by the “corrupt bargain.” The campaign was nasty, even by today’s standards. Jackson’s marriage came under intense scrutiny, as did his ownership of slaves. When the election results were announced, Jackson had won, his supporters stormed the White House, and Adams had to escape through the back.

Slow Joe and the Ho are lucky.

I guess that Joe Biden ran on the Charlottesville hoax and repeatedly called Trump racist and worse has been memory-holed by CNN. Trump, whose supporters they fear, is choosing to leave the day to Biden. The installment of the new president as Nancy Pelosi put it should proceed but without them being able to insult Trump to his face.

And hopefully with dark screens all across the land

Personally, I couldn't give two shits about the traditions of the Presidency and the transfer of power. The Dems lost any right to call for civility with their bullshit Russia Collusion Hoax and bullshit impeachments and their stolen election.

presidents have set aside hard feelings and ego

This is just a continuation of "Trump has thin skin" narrative. They keep making this claim, yet Biden needs 20,000 plus troops to protect him. All of them screened to make sure they aren't Trump supporters.

They say a good movie "show[s], don't tell"; well I can see who has then thinner skin without CNN telling me.

I'm looking forward to ending the SotU clown show. Let Biden submit a letter to Congress and be done with it.

I suspect that the foreign leaders are going to slowly, horrifyingly, realize that Biden is mentally gone, and that his administration has no leadership and will be too busy infighting or trying to line their own pockets to be much use in the world.

This is of course all political theater, but has anybody--CNN, those brilliant minds at WaPo, the Bulwark and NR types, Joe's "braintrust" (heh-c'mon man, those guys take very good care of it!)--anybody--suggested that perhaps Joe the Great Uniter could come out and say: "We don't need this. President Trump and I have our differences, but he's leaving office next week. I am asking my fellow Democrats in Congress, for the good of this Nation, to drop the impeachment proceedings. And if they will do this, I would invite the outgoing President, in a gesture of unity and respect for the office, and to help unite a country which so badly needs it, to attend the inauguration, with my blessing and support."

He never will, and they never would, and maybe Trump would actually tell him to shove it up his ass. But lets not pretend that Joe deserves any respect from Trump, or from me, unless he is willing to speak up against this incredible, dishonest, petty and divisive bullshit.

400,000 deaths attributed to the virus and collateral damage (e.g. suicides, denial of care, cross-contamination). Planned Parent/hood, spreading social contagion, and denying/stigmatizing early treatments has consequences, but is clearly politically congruent (i.e. profitable).

And yet along with Pelosi, another 'devout' Catholic, still receives communion from spineless priests.

Clearly a cause for a schism. Many, perhaps most, Catholics are true to their religion (i.e. moral philosophy) and are Pro-Life, and for self-defense. Americans are Pro-Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness, which requires a reconciliation. The question for some is what to do with the excess lives. Social liberalism has consequences. Immigration reform to cover-up this cascade of bad choices is poorly conceived. The wicked solution is poorly conceived and administered.

Questioning the loyalty to our country of the National Guard based on the actions of a couple hundred people whose motives we don’t even understand yet. That’s “normal.”

All the talk above about the NG being present and unprecedented. That’s not a good message or omen for an incoming administration.

But an even worse message is being sent to citizens by the incoming administration. Troops that can be identified as pro-Trump are being disarmed. Democrats seem intent on turning the armed forces into an arm of the Democrat Party. That’s something that’s part of every totalitarian government in history. Our armed forces swear their oath to the Constitution. Democrats are now requiring loyalty to Democrat.

Democrat voters and people who didn’t vote because Trump tweeted mean things are directly responsible for this.

BTW, gas has gone up significantly in the last week without the excuse of a hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico shutting down refineries and production. This time next year- double or triple? Or more? I’m predicting a first year doubling. Which Democrat voters are directly responsible for.

Anthony Bergen, Presidential Historian: "Everything boiled over on Inauguration Day 1953 as Truman handed the Presidency over to Eisenhower. At one point, Eisenhower had threatened to break tradition and not even ride to the Capitol with Truman. He didn’t follow through on that threat, but he did arrive at the White House too late to share a small lunch that the outgoing First Couple had prepared for the incoming First Couple. Truman and Eisenhower did end up sharing a car, as by tradition, from the White House to the Capitol, but the conversation was anything but light. They were still sniping at each other by the time they arrived at the Capitol."

Respect the family's choice. For example, many people change their first name to facilitate assimilation, but reserve use of their native names to close family and friends.
