"I will be leaving the great Walter Reed Medical Center today at 6:30 P.M. Feeling really good! Don’t be afraid of Covid. Don’t let it dominate your life."

"We have developed, under the Trump Administration, some really great drugs & knowledge. I feel better than I did 20 years ago!"

Tweeted Trump a few minutes ago.

AND: Look what that means. Apart from the news item — he feels good and is about to leave the hospital — we can see the beginning of his new framing of the covid issue: Fear not! Don't let it run your life! We have great treatments, great medical personnel! It's the new-old Trump optimism. He's still advocating getting out and living your life. He's been through the illness and what he's learned is, it's not so bad. I'm sure his opponents will pounce with recitations of the number who have died — 215,000!! They'll take the side of closing up, locking down, hiding your face, waiting and waiting to get back to life. They may be right, but maybe people will vote for what they want: Freedom! Back to normal! Don't be afraid!

Weird about the excess deaths number then. What was that all about?

Oh, I forgot, the lockdowns killed 190,000 people, and COVID the rest. This stuff is so easy to understand.

Thus we could legitimately say that leukemia is always about the immune system, but more likely there is a distinction being made between white blood cell leukemias and red blood cell leukemias. There are many different kinds of leukemia. Almost every different kind of white blood cell has its own leukemia. That is a cancer where only that particular immune cell type is affected.

There is a sort of red cell malignancy called Polycythemia Rubra Vera. I'm not sure it is considered as malignant as white cell "Leukemia," which of course means white. Leukemia frequently involves other organs, which PRV does not as far as I know.

The immune cell malignancy is called Multiple Myeloma, which causes protein in the urine and bone collapse as it involves vertebra. There are several variants that involve the sort of protein.

A good friend of mine died of it a year ago and had no suspicion he was ill until he fell in the bathroom and broke his neck, which was honeycombed with the cancer.

Not anymore. All he'd need to do is go down to F Street on the grounds of the Building Museum and wait in line just a short while. Results back the next day. It was very easy this time. And it's free. DC not doing too bad a job at testing (finally).

I thought they were finding that people who had natural antibodies were still testing positive on the PCR test for active virus -- but that was from when they were just starting out with antibody tests months ago. Has our understanding changed since then? (Or is it just that a massive dose of antibodies should have wiped out substantially all the virus in his system more quickly than a natural immune reaction could do?)

Does anyone here remember Barbara Tuchman? She was a very good writer of popular histories in the 1950s to 1970s -- lefty, but worth reading. One of her later books was called March of Folly, which was esentially anti-Viet Nam War propoganda, but dressed up as history. Her thesis was that a decision that turned out badly was "folly" if there were people around when the decision was made who argued against it. Her first example, as I recall, was the Trojan Horse. Now, of course, for every important decision that any government has to make, there are going to be some dissenters, so to say that a decision that is unsuccessful is "folly" because some folks disagreed with it is pretty silly. But the opposite may make more sense. Was there anyone else involved as a serious decisionmaker or critic who was advocating a different policy? Granted (at least for the sake of argument) that Trump did not always make the best possible decision about how to deal with the coronavirus threat, who was out there arguing for a different approach that would have made a positive difference? If VP Biden, or any of his supporters were doing so, I missed it. Please educate me.

Tim in Vermont, comment 202 (7:52pm):
Are you mocking the idea that the lockdown could have killed tens or hundreds of thousands? I hope not, because it has undoubtedly done just that.

I've seen numerous reports that 'deaths of despair' (suicide plus fatal drug overdoses) are way up, though no specific numbers. (Neither the press nor the medical establishment wants to even look like they think there's a health down-side to the lockdown.) Are people who've been laid off or had the businesses they poured their lives into go bankrupt or be burned down by mobs of assholes more or less likely to kill themselves? I think the answer is more, much more. I think being locked up at home, without the support of friends and family, without being able to visit sick and dying loved ones, has undoubtedly pushed more people to suicide or to 'falling off the wagon' and taking up drugs and alcohol after years of sobriety.

There are other health effects of lockdowns: I read a report that cancer screenings were down 85% (I think it was) in April from the previous year. Any cancer that would have been detected in April but was not is obviously more likely to kill, much more likely if it's detected 6-8 months later. I've heard of many cases of people refusing to go to the emergency room for chest pains because they thought they would just catch Covid there and die from that, so they were better off taking their chances at home. Come to think of it, I'm overdue for my quinquennial colonoscopy: hope the delay doesn't come back to bite me.

Despite the general lack of concrete numbers, I have read a specific report that military suicides are up 20%. I would suspect it would be worse outside the military, which hasn't been laying off employees, or sending people off to meat-grinder wars lately.

In short, any increase in overall mortality cannot be attributed entirely to Covid, since some (much? maybe even most?) of it is in fact a result of the lockdown. And I haven't even counted the huge increases in murders of policemen, and of the general public in 'defund the police' cities.

Thanks for the gentle correction. That sounds horrible what happened to your friend.

Since red blood cells lack nuclei, it should be almost impossible to have a cancer beginning or originating from a red blood cell.

I wonder how much of that was due to folks putting off elective surgeries. I am sure that there was a group of folks that passed away during this "lock down" period (or shortly will) due to un-necessary delays in needed testings and treatments but there also has to be a number of folks that did not pass away due to cancelled surgeries (you can't die from surgery/complications if you didn't have the surgery). Is that a wash?

You can get a positive test after you have completely recovered. Your body is still excreting dead covid cells which still have Covid DNA. The lab test recycles the sample to separate that DNA, my understanding is that there is no CDC guidance on how many times labs should recycle to replicate the Covid.

Balfegor,

The PCR tests can find the virus RNA for weeks afterwards- especially given the number of replication cycles they are running today which is an insane 40+- almost like they are deliberately acting to inflate the positive results.

You generally are only infectious in the period before you develop a full blown IgG antibody response. Getting the mono-clonal antibody, a selected-for-efficacy antibody, at the dose Trump got is like taking the disease progression and accelerating it by at least a week. Yes, the antibody has probably more or less wiped out the virus in Trump after 4 days. My only worry is that it might have short-circuited his own immune system's production of natural immunity. For now, you can't even test him for a natural antibody response. They can test him for antigen proteins, but even then you can test positive without active virus.

AA - interesting comment from you and your conclusion. But it's full of the same misinformation generated by the MSM. We the people in the USA are not gettin any non-propoganda oriented information to actually help us. For example, the 215,000 number you cited has been thoroughly debunked by most adults. The CDC data table is based on an analysis of death certificates that mention COVID-19 as a cause. For 6% of the deaths, COVID-19 was the only cause mentioned.

The other 94% list COVID-19 and other conditions together. Among those deaths, there were, on average, 2.6 additional conditions or causes per death, the public health agency said. It is rare for people not to have multiple medical issues at death.

We see this every year when the "Seasonal Flu" arrives and takes many people [mostly elderly] with multiple conditions. But like everything else - Covit has morphed into the 'killer of the century' in the lying MSM eyes.
