How many comments do I need to read on this WaPo article about the professor who pretended to be black before the subject becomes Trump?

I'm reading "GWU plans to replace Jessica Krug, the professor who admitted to falsely claiming Black identity," and I've got the comments section sorted in order of up votes.

I bet the first comment makes it about Trump. What do you think? Want to do a bet with me? Well, if you had, I would have won, because the most up-voted comment is: "Weird. Be who you are people. If you're a failed businessman, grifter and reality-show host, don't try to be president. For example."

I remember when people said Trump was insane because he thought everything is about him, but these days, it's the anti-Trumpists who think everything is about him.

There is actually a serious issue here. Did she commit ACADEMIC fraud? If not, and it seems not, then GWU is basically saying they hired her only for her claimed race aren’t they?

If everything reminds you about how awful Trump is - you're definitely a bore, and you could probably could use some counseling.

The level of Trump hatred from the left is off the charts, and doesn't seem justified. People have allowed themselves to become deranged. Its the kind of hatred that destroys people - like taking poison.

No fair sorting by most upvotes first. Of course THAT’S going to get a Trump comment right at the top. It’s Wapo.

A better bet would be to read the comments in order received. Then at least you might get to the “Tootsie POP Three” before finding a TDS post.

Krug has been falsely claiming to be black for decades. Somehow, even though her fraud started before Trump was elected, it's still his fault.

These Dems, Biden, never try to persuade about how their policies will make lives better. I understand that making those arguments is a pretty foolish thing to do since no Democrat policy has ever proven to be good, but don't they at least have to try.

All they do is complain about Trump. On a certain level it's both flattering to Trump and pathetic to themselves.

That would be my question. As someone who society would classify as a white male (my ancestors were actually latin, but you anglos can never tell us apart) in his 60's, I'm a lot closer (biologically speaking) to being a black man than I am to being a white woman. Nowadays racism is always part of the hiring process for high-status jobs, but more interesting is "They" are inadvertently admitting that race is biological and based on genes.

Consider: both she and Obama were raised in a white environment by white people.

Why is Obama "black" but she isn't?

I've been saying for five years that he was a brick thrown through the window of the ruling class.

And I have been very surprised at how well he has done in spite of hysteria.

In an interview with MSNBC’s Chris Hayes, Wilson conceded that “Trump is still a very powerful force right now” because he appeals to part of the of the conservative base that Wilson said was activated by his “nativist” message. Wilson insisted that the donor class “can’t just sit back on the sidelines and say, ‘oh well, don’t worry, this will all work itself out.’”
“They’re still going to have to go out and put a bullet in Donald Trump,” Wilson said. “And that’s a fact.”

That could still happen and is my chief worry now. I don't trust the Secret Service, especially since they have covered up the Biden molesting of an agent's wife.

I hope he has a couple of his own people in there.

Ann has lived in Wisconsin for a long time. I think most people would agree that this makes her a Wisconsiner. Wisconsinite?

She is not a native Wisconsiner, though being born in NY IIRC.

If a person born in Wisconsin moves to Idaho, marries another Wisconsiner in Idaho, are their children Wisconsiners?

I've lived in Puerto Rico 50 years next April. I was not born here but I am a Puerto Rican citizen (The same way Ann is a Wisconsin citizen) So I call myself "Puerto Rican" Not by blood, perhaps but by residence, citizenship and adoption.

My wife is ethnic Puerto Rican as are my children and grandchildren.

So if I am Puerto Rican, can I legitimately claim to be Hispanic or even, if I want to be annoying, Latinx?

I a person is born in Oklahoma to a native Puerto Rican mother and father, they call themselves Puerto Rican. But are they? Seems to me they are really sooners.

It gets so complicated at times that .

I'm fine with this woman "passing" for black. We have never had a problem with blacks "passing" for white. Why is it a problem the other way?

And I agree, OF COURSE it is the bad orange man's fault. He made her do it.

That’s pretty funny coming from you, a guy who buys into every new conspiracy theory the Democrats throw out there heart and soul. At least she has actual evidence. She did an experiment, she had her hypothesis, tested it, and her hypothesis was confirmed right then and there. You can only imagine what it is like to have one of your theories confirmed by evidence on the sport.

Probably.

It's irrelevant to this discussion of racial categories, though, because Hispanic and Latinks are not racial categories, they're political, like citizen of Wisconsin or Canada. Which is why I use the term "Mestizo" when I mean Mestizo.

Transgender/neos claim to be feminine (gender) or masculine, not female (sex) or male. To their credit, gender, including sexual attributes, not limited to sexual orientation, can be simulated and influenced through medical procedures and indoctrination.

Quaestor said...

wildswan writes: She was teaching African Studies so probably her claim helped her get a job which would otherwise have gone to an African-American.

It's pretty goddamn racist to insist that a person with dark skin has a special insight into things involving Africa and its inhabitants simply because he may have ancestors from Africa. That makes even less sense than awarding a professorship of Ukrainian studies to Benjamin Franklin Voloshyn of Boulder, Colorado simply because his ancestors lived there. In fact, this hypothetical situation has better justification in that Mr. Voloshyn can consult immigration documents, ships' logs and passenger lists, and various government and church records extant in modern Ukraine to prove beyond reasonable doubt specific facts about those distant ancestors. Not so very likely in the case of a Black American trying to confirm his African heritage.

There was a time when an aspiring college professor needed years of peer-reviewed research in his field of study before any such appointment could even be considered. That's back when universities valued truth and distrusted lies, pretense, and masquerade.

I remember when people said Trump was insane because he thought everything is about him, but these days, it's the anti-Trumpists who think everything is about him.

Narcissism doesn't work like a light switch (on or off) and there's no cure for narcissistic personality disorder. It really doesn't matter what we Never Trumpers know to be the truth about Trump, his entire life has been entrapped inside his own damaged perception of reality and he is incapable of discerning his severe mental limitations. According to Donald's niece Mary, a clinical psychologist:

President Donald Trump is a textbook narcissist and his late father, the real estate developer Fred Trump Sr., was a sociopath . . .

At the root of President Trump’s narcissism . . . is a childhood that was scarred by the emotional abuse Trump suffered at the hands of his father and by his mother’s absence due to a lengthy illness. Lying, cheating and hiding one’s true feelings were all rewarded in the Trump household . . . and as a result of this, these behaviors are all fundamental parts of President Trump’s personality. By limiting Donald’s access to his own feelings and rendering many of them unacceptable, Fred Trump Sr. perverted his son’s perception of the world and damaged his ability to live in it . . .

Elsewhere [Mary Trump] writes, “Nothing is ever enough. This is far beyond garden-variety narcissism; Donald is not simply weak, his ego is a fragile thing that must be bolstered every moment because he knows deep down that he is nothing of what he claims to be.”

“The fact is, Donald’s pathologies are so complex and his behaviors so often inexplicable that coming up with an accurate and comprehensive diagnosis would require a full battery of psychological and neuro-physical tests, that he’ll never sit for...”

Mary Trump also describes her uncle as having been sheltered from the real world and from the consequences of his own behavior. “Donald has been institutionalized for most of his adult life, so there is no way to know how he would thrive, or even survive, on his own in the real world.”
