I've often wondered about that term 'silent majority'. Who are they?

- They typically have jobs. They're too busy to be loud.

- They typically are moderate (in the Greek sense) in all things. Moderation is critical, generally, to success in numerous different types of endeavors.

- They typically are people that eschew politics, not because they don't like it, but because they've got better things to do.

- They are usually very tired, mostly owing to all the above.

In England (The English Tradition) or Japan or China (LaoBaiXing) they are regarded as the people who basically make things work and whose wrath is not usually something to be feared or coaxed, but if it is coaxed and aroused, you should definitely be very very frightened, for the vigor with which they are usually busy and the vigor that makes them tired is the same vigor that can be directed at you.

The 'silent majority' are they that wish to get about their business, and woe to anyone who causes disruption of that routine. They will singular quickness and great cacophony work hard to go back to being silent, and that right soon.

The Silent Majority originally referred to the Dead, who in most places vote Democrat.

That would explain their progressive resort to protests, indulgence of liberal license to allegations of diversity, strong-arm tactics targeting public and private venues and citizens, and, of course, threats of cancellation. The polls must be politically incongruent to their cause. #HateLovesAbortion Whatever happened to their effort to force a consensus on rape-rape culture?

OT but the Seattle mayor predicted a Summer of Love so what were the odds the highway protestors hit by a car were named Summer and Love?

"Summer Taylor, of Seattle, died on Saturday evening at Harborview Medical Center, spokesperson Susan Gregg said, according to the Associated Press.

Taylor and 32-year-old Diaz Love, of Portland, Oregon, had been struck by the vehicle that drove through a panicked crowd of protesters on Interstate 5 early Saturday morning."

Good post Lucid. The silent majority is to be feared when aroused because they are not aroused until they are angry. And they will make quick work of the situation because they want to go back to their lives ASAP. That's what leaves the radicals and the critics confounded--for a time, they think they are winning because no one opposes then. But the reality is, the opposition is ignoring them as not worth the trouble. The silent majority is patient and tolerant. Until they are not.

My daughter, at the U of Arizona ten years ago, was taught in her "US History Since 1877" class that "The Silent Majority" was made up of white people who refused to accept the 1964 Civil Rights Act. That was on her study guide for finals. No mention of Nixon or the Vietnam War.

It also said the Plains Indians taught the settlers to farm. The Plains Indians, of course, were hunter gatherers. Such was a college education ten years ago. Jesse Watters had a video of asking a college girl who was our opponent in the Revolutionary War. She asked "Texas?"

This is where Ingas come from.

I still haven't quite figured out Trump's tweets. But he has 83 Million followers, and his campaign has figured out some PR algorithm that tells them how a particular message impacts his 63 Million voters.

It's far too complex for my feeble little mind.

The world changes. But it doesn't change that much.

One theory I read today is that the reason that the markets seem to be booming amid a lot of negative business news, is that they are typically based on predicted market and business conditions six months out - and they are pricing in a significant Trump win in November. Moreover, the violent AntiFA/BLM riots have significantly killed off Dem fundraising at the local and state level. Republicans are out raising Dems at roughly a 2/1 rate. This could be critically when states start reapportioning later this year.

Inga is not taking the news out of Great Britain today very well, is she?

For those just tuning in, Christopher Steele, the foreigner the democrats paid to work with FusionGPS and Nellie Ohr to craft a hoax dossier which was then run by Putin's Kremlin's pals for "verification" (which never occurred), officially lost his case in London today against the russian businessmen in the UK who sued Christopher Steele for lying about them.

Lies that our very own Inga parroted over and over and over and over again like a dim-witted automaton.

The Alpha Bank pinging Trump Tower servers as secret communications lies that Inga pushed for months and months has now suffered a second blow after Mueller was forced to admit it was a lie.

Mueller admitted that was a lie and now Steele has admitted that was a lie.

However, Inga still believes it happened.

I wonder if that qualifies as a mental illness?

Scott Adams has talked about the fact that the Left has no idea how fearful supporters of DJT are of retribution if vocal. This is real. I know this sounds crazy, but I am a DJT supporter and I won't even admit it to my wife (who is a Republican) or my two adult children. Our "Culture" is 100% intolerant of this position. Why would I risk my career, livelihood, etc by announcing that support when there is a real chance of it impacting me professionally down the road. Trust me, there are lots of people out there like me and it is not an inconsequential number. Even if the polls are to be believed, the Left understands that at least 45% of the country will vote against their candidate right? If you watched the news, you would think DJT would be lucky to clear 25%. Now, I am not saying he wins but he is not going to lose to Biden by 10% (what 13-14 Million votes?).

Conservatives have been making blacks kill their babies by the millions for years, the evil aimed at us is just, so let's count that as a mark in the victor column. It will only get better, meaning more and more black bodies sliced and sold for profit by Althouse's compadres at the racist-of-racists Planned Parenthood (unless you or your baby may be black, then you die for white supremacy profit in search of Lambos).

The great thing about Trump anybody can appreciate is how things people as a society are told to assume because it is assumed we aren't to question the assumption but just accept it as "hey if most people feel that way in a democracy it must be the moderate (non-extreme) way to think about this issue I haven't studied in depth enough to form a truly cogent opinion.

Of course assumptions and wordplay change rapidly; We didn't evolve to not not assume things at a rapid pace.

The metrics we used in the past, letting others measure, are bullshit. Others are paid, corrupt shills, also ideological. In many cases these are volunteers.

We measure twice, cut once.

They decide the result, and design the measurement to achieve it, like China.

China and them asshoe.

They claim absolute moral superiority and ownership of what "science" can possibly mean. If faith is gone, like in a person such as Althouse's own Farmer, they just might plunge the world back to 1622.

Of course you didn’t read it or even know what Biden has said regarding defunding the police. Of course. It would be an about face for you to for once leave your ignorance and arrogance behind.

Don't defund police, support reforms

If state and local governments fail to make necessary changes, the Department of Justice must have subpoena power for pattern or practice investigations into systemic misconduct by police departments and force these departments to reform.

While I do not believe federal dollars should go to police departments violating people’s rights or turning to violence as the first resort, I do not support defunding police. The better answer is to give police departments the resources they need to implement meaningful reforms, and to condition other federal dollars on completing those reforms.

I’ve long been a firm believer in the power of community policing — getting cops out of their cruisers and building relationships with the people and the communities they are there to serve and protect. That’s why I’m proposing an additional $300 million to reinvigorate community policing in our country. Every single police department should have the money it needs to institute real reforms like adopting a national use of force standard, buying body cameras and recruiting more diverse police officers.”

In an interview with Norah O’Donnell Biden says “No, I don’t support defunding the police” at the 57 mark in the video.

It never stops surprising me how uninformed so many of you lazy minded Trumpists are, it shouldn’t surprise me anymore. OM you are a prime example of this laziness.

Trump blathers, blusters, and bullshits about literally every topic of importance to Americans but Trump simply doesn’t matter. He is irrelevant. Nothing he says or does will ever provide the substance, sustenance or spirit required to advance fundamental American interests.

I've never understood the appeal of Trump's tweets but he must know something I don't.

FWIW My lefty friends are panicking as even they don't really believe the polls about Slow Joe being 10 pts ahead. They fear they are having smoke blown up their asses again like 2016 (Yes)

Trump is probably not as far ahead as he should be but with things spinning out of control in blue controlled city, the election will be a referendum will be on how you want to clean this whole mess up. More bribery to poorly run blue cities? Or a swift kick in the nuts to the perps and enablers? I know how many of us will be voting.

"FYI, Biden just came out in favor of defunding the police, and he means it literally."

Looks like the Trump administration is desperately trying to mischaracterize Biden’s stance, which is to NOT defund the police, but to reform instead. Nice try, but, fail.

“In response to Biden's new comments, Trump 2020 campaign rapid response director Andrew Clark wrote on Twitter it looked like Biden had “changed his position” on defunding police, adding a clip from the Now This interview.

But Biden's campaign denied it signaled a change in his position.

“I'd like to thank Donald Trump - for hiring an illiterate comms staff. Biden is running on *more* COPS funding for community policing,” Bates, Biden’s director of rapid response, shot back. “The same sentiment you're taking out of context RE: local budgets is *in* the articles about him opposing defunding.”

Inga, if as Biden says funding the police will depend on their acceptance and implementation of his laundry list of reforms, he is in favor of defunding the police.

What old demented senile Joe's handlers had him say was essentially "Oh, no, I won't defund the police. I just won't give them any federal funds unless and until they accomplish an impossible, endless, self-contradictory list of reforms."

See how that fraud works? Same as when Obama said you could keep your doctor if you wanted to keep your doctor? Except that you couldn't keep your doctor, because his ACA made it impossible to keep your doctor? Police won't be defunded, Joe isn't in favor of defunding, except they will be, because Joe won't fund without impossible changes to police departments.
