There's no possible way any professional sports league, NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, can possibly generate enough revenue to cover payroll and fixed costs- for those that actually own their stadiums. (For cities- city owned stadiums and sports arenas are a huge tax eating white elephant right now.) They're all going to end up bankrupt by the end of the year. I don't even know what their player contracts call for- they may be obligated for salaries as long as the players themselves aren't on strike. Movie theater chains are all going to go bust- Will a newly formed company buy theater assets and show movies when we can all gather freely again? Of is it too much risk. Movie production companies aren't getting any revenue from big summer hits- as there aren't any being shown. ALL entertainment venues and companies are bankruptcy candidates.

We might be approaching the point where at the end of covid restrictions an actual Debt Jublilee is a realistic option. I had never heard of such a thing until a year or so ago, but there is a Debt Jubilee movement. No idea how big it actually is or whether it has a growing number of adherents. Good points on the sports leagues and theaters. We've just crossed theaters off our list entirely. On the debt jubilee, which is mentioned in the Bible -- although as I understand it there is a question as to whether one ever actually occurred -- it's just a method of shifting the loss from the borrower to the lender.

Presumably the lender has more resources and can afford it. But as you say, banks owe their depositors. Who takes the losses when one goes under, on Wall Street or on Main Street? Suddenly it looks like shades of 2008-09 again. Some bank bail-ins in Europe have included depositors as losers in the write-offs and reorganizations. And then there is the moral hazard of a Jubilee.

I don't think it's the answer, Gospace, but I doubt we will ever see one, myself. If you can't pay your loan, you lose your collateral. It seems simple and logical. Yes, the consequences can be painful at some level even for those not directly involved. But ever more bailing-out is throwing good money after bad.; 7/22/20, 8:21 AM

The scandal of Covid will probably stay hidden. How a few Democrat governors killed 50,000 old people in nursing homes. Now, we see a campaign, driven by money, to maximize diagnoses and, if possible, deaths due to this virus even if they are unrelated.

Some of us have heard of gunshot wound deaths attributed to covid. We are also hearing of people who registered to be tested but went home untested and were subsequently notified they are positive.

I was in Tucson Medical Center last week having a lung lobe removed and was chatting with the nurses. I commented that I had read that TMC got $19,000 extra for each diagnosis admitted. No, they assured me, It was $40,000.

The death count is all we really have to go on, and of course it is imperfect, but it suggests that the case count is lower than reported. It can be checked against excess deaths. But you guys want it both ways, you want to say that the disease is less deadly because so many people have it and so the fatality rate is lower and you want to say that the number of cases is exaggerated.

Excess deaths are coming back to earth, but they are still happening. It’s a shame that this has been so politicized that we will never know what is really happening. The plan is to bewilder us, and it is succeeding. They are keeping us in the dark and feeding us bullshit.
