Does anyone else think some Iranians might be giving the situation the side eye because the regime’s response was underwhelming at this time, then those poor Ukraines crashed, then an earthquake?
We are only 1 week in to 2020 and some might already want it over.
@jennajameson · 2h It’s all a show. We’re watching a scripted movie play out. Iran saving face...Trump holds fire. Bad actors in Iran get removed quietly now that Soulemani is gone. Iranian people freed...in time. Peace is the goal and spoiler alert...God Wins!!
About the time I began reading and posting here, in my early 20's, I stopped watching cable news. Hannity used to frustrate me greatly, especially when he hosted with Alan Colmes (RIP). He'd be so close to landing a decisive rhetorical blow, and flub it, or losing an argument with Colmes that would have me shouting my responses at the TV screen, wondering why Sean wasn't articulating an obvious and well reasoned counterargument. It wasn't always terrible but after finding and reading good blogs with active and articulate comment sections, the glowing circus act became tiresome.
BTW, anyone see those Chef Mojo recipes that Glenn Reynolds posted recently? One was for a Texas chili that I'll be making this weekend, and another was for some kind of remoulade that my wife will be tackling. RIP to that mighty soul.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi refused to immediately take a phone call from Vice President Mike Pence on Tuesday evening notifying her that Iran had launched missile attacks against at least two U.S. military bases in Iraq.“Tell him I’ll call him back,” Pelosi said to an aide who handed her a note that the vice president was calling her during a meeting, opting to not immediately take the phone call as U.S. bases in Iraq were under attack and instead call the vice president back.Pelosi was in a meeting, according to Politico’s Heather Caygle, and was set to open the U.S. House for a new session moments later.
RE: Iran Fucking weird. Earthquakes near Bushehr. 737 down outside of Tehran. Poorly orchestrated Iranian SRBM strikes. Call me crazy, but is it plausible that the airliner flew through a cruise missile salvo that we fired in response, or maybe was downed by an overeager Iranian SA-18 operator imagining something? Iran is saying it was a mechanical, but it seems early for that. Not rooting for this outcome, just a random thought that I wanted to put out there.
Actually, it's pretty hard to slap someone in the face [with short-range ballistic missiles] if the targets had advance word of what was coming and were safe in their bunkers.

RE: Impeachment. Trump appears to have won but I think it more accurate to say the Democrats have lost. They decided to pursue this sham of impeachment on manufactured, or at best thin, evidence of wrongdoing. Trump wins by default.
On Iran: This was a face saving move by them but I wouldn't put it past them that the move is designed to lull us into a sense of security and complacency. I trust that Trump and the folks advising him plan accordingly.
Just noting for posterity this report from Trump's speech: ""The president confirmed the news that Tuesday's attacks resulted in minimal damage to U.S. assets and no casualties among U.S. or Iraqi military personnel."
The quick witted among you might note that this completely contradicts Chuck's unsourced claim at 11:42pm that:
"Significant casualties among our allied Iraqi forces. That probably will mean nothing to much of Trump World. Shame on them for that."
So when we were sorta-kinda-joking that Chuck and pals were *hoping* for casualties so they could blame Trump, little did we know. Not just hoping for them. Willing to fabricate them. Hey, whatever it takes, right?

Apparently no Americans killed or wounded.
Listen carefully, and you can hear Sad Trombones from Chuck, Inga, Pee-Pee Tape and other insane anti-Trumpists.
At least I can, from just outside Cambridge, MA.

I'm wondering what Ben Rhodes has to say about all this drama with Iran. Or not!

Holy Crap!
I agree with Jenna Jameson

Chuck will be here tomorrow to link Trump to the plane crash AND to the earthquake. I'll get my slant from him.
I’m not sure the volley was poorly orchestrated.
But Khamenei was in the bunker overseeing it.
The 737 going down is terrible news. Maybe we'll learn the true cause, maybe we won't.

'Supreme Leader: 'We slapped them on the face'
More from Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei...
“Last night, we slapped them on the face," he says, talking about the attacks on US targets.
The crowd responds with chants of “death to America”.
He adds: “When it comes to confrontation, military action of this kind is not enough.
"What is important is that the corrupt presence of the United States should come to an end.”'

All good news so far and as a bonus we may get out of Iraq. Maybe Trump is a genius.

Significant casualties among our allied Iraqi forces. That probably will mean nothing to much of Trump World. Shame on them for that.
Chuck keeps hoping for dead Americans and allies.
Well, here he is on the radio. Sounds shook up and exhausted.

You people make your fellow Americans your enemies, what is wrong with you?
Want to avoid being labeled the enemy? Try not taking sides with our enemies just once.
It'll work wonders.
