Now women, I just want you to know; you are not perfect, but what I can say pretty indisputably is that you're better than us. I'm absolutely confident that for two years if every nation on earth was run by women, you would see a significant improvement across the board on just about everything... living standards and outcomes.... If you look at the world and look at the problems it's usually old people, usually old men, not getting out of the way.... It is important for political leaders to try and remind themselves that you are there to do a job, but you are not there for life, you are not there in order to prop up your own sense of self importance or your own power. As for the stuff about women, I have heard that all my life, and I have always regarded it as manipulative and insincere. I consider it part of the subordination of women. And I don't think it helps women gain positions of power to talk about us this way. I think it exacerbates the suspicion that women won't handle power effectively and rationally.

Is Obama talking to Joe? He says: "If you look at the world and look at the problems it's usually old people, usually old men, not getting out of the way."
That's from a BBC article with a title that stresses his flattery of women: "Barack Obama: Women are better leaders than men." But I'm noticing the sharp nudge at Joe Biden (and Bernie Sanders):

Like that time Obama got out of Hillary's way so she could be president.
Eh, the young hate the old. And the near-old hate the old even more.
But yeah 70s is getting up there as far as cognitive stuff goes. And Biden seems a little ambivalent about the whole thing anyway, like life was already good anyway, who needs the headache?
If a woman can do the job, so be it. I haven't seen one run for President that spoke to me yet. I might vote for Nikki Haley, so there's that, but I don't think Barack was talking about her.
Old people maybe don't want globalism???
Oh Oh. Here comes Michelle or Hillary.
Like that time Obama got out of Hillary's way so she could be president.
Lol, exactly.
An clear and progressive bigotry from conception to grave. Diversity, too. Will no one exonerate (remove the "burden") me.
It's that same bullshit that women make better teachers/leaders/_______ because of a maternal nurturing instinct. Since we have permission from Obama to stereotype we'd probably also all still be living in naked in trees since women are risk averse to a fault...
what about old white women who used Private Servers for international pay to play secrecy and set up fake family charitable foundations for 6 million dollar a year private jet service?
It's a very bigoted attitude. He's saying: never mind the ideas; just tell the dude to shut up.
But not Obama himself, of course.
No wonder he nominated a bigot to the Supreme Court. "Wise Latina" better than white man, she said unequivocally. Called on it, she said it was meant to be inspirational.
Call me weird, but bigotry isn't inspirational.
What could he possibly have to lose by blatantly helping to escort Joe off the stage?
Hey, Barack: You left out the word “White.”
And Barack. Fuck you. Why did you order the FBI and CIA to spy on Trump? We want answers! You undermined our democracy.
When you are 75, I hope you get flooded out of your $12.5m Martha’s Vineyard mansion.
Statements like these confirm how intellectually shallow Obama is
"I think it exacerbates the suspicion that women won't handle power effectively and rationally."
In my substantial experience with women in leadership; this suspicion is warranted.
Hack Pol: Oh you women, you gals are wonderful! 10x better than any man, if only you were in charge of EVERYTHING.
Audience: So, why don't you resign and give your job to a woman?
Hack Pol: Next Question!
This is like Obama’s comment that Kamala Harris is the best-looking Attorney General.
Obama’s habit of condescension is the least likable thing about him.
Battle prep for when Michelle realizes "she must run for the good of the country"!
we have permission from Obama to stereotype
It's not just Obama. It's not just female and male Feminists. It's official diversity (i.e. color judgment) doctrine of the Pro-Choice, selective, opportunistic, politically congruent religion.
Women are better than men. translation: Michelle would make a great President.
"but you are not there for life"
Didn't Michelle just say they were in it for life?
Swede, with the very first comment, topedoes the SS Obama and sends it to the bottom of the Atlantic.
Michelle might run if the Obamas can figure out how to collect bribes from foreigners like the Clintons did. But I think not. Too much work for too little money. Easier job with Netflix.
And, yes, this is a nudge to Biden. Obama is trying to push him out, but will have to do more if he really feels strongly about the issue.
Look at the preponderance of women in leadership across the entire spectrum of our government and tell me how impressive it is.
I don't think Mrs. Obama is going to run- why would she? I am deeply interested in politics, and I wouldn't want to be president, but a deep interest in politics is a necessary part of running for and being president, and Michelle Obama clearly doesn't have that.
The obstacle to Michelle running are the Bernie Bro's. They are going to be pissed if people jump the line this time after how he was treated with Clinton and the Super-delegates.
Dave Begley wrote:

This is also a strong reason for why she won't run- the collecting of money following Obama's terms in office would have to not only stop, but the Obamas would have to give most of it back since they have been paid directly rather than through a "charity".
Freud would conclude that he has issues with his mother and/or father.
So, when does a human acquire and retain his right to... When does a human... male human reach seniority? Obama is over the hill. A bigot (i.e. sanctimonious hypocrisy). Perhaps he should retire and let green children pursue green dreams among the Green blight.
The next President should be an Adolescent-American, feminine female, chauvinist, and committed elective abortion (i.e. reproductive rite) and planned (i.e. cannibalized) her child.
OK, snowflake.
Oprah is more likely to run than Michelle Obama.
If you look at the world and look at the progress that has been made it's usually old people, usually old (White) men, leading the way.
"I'm coming, I'm coming, for my head is bending low,
I hear the darkies softly singing Old Man Joe..."

Just wait until Hillary gets the nomination..... someone pass the popcorn.
"Michelle might run if the Obamas can figure out how to collect bribes from foreigners like the Clintons did.
Three hundred million in unmarked credits. A greater Middle East War and unrelated return? CAIR to gerrymander democracies in Europe, Australia, and America, too. And a less than green mansion by the sea. People are so green. Obama did well enough in his quid pro Joes.
And let's not forget those great pacifist women leaders of the past: Golda Meir, Indira Ghandi, and Margaret Thatcher.
Very dumb pandering. To the extent that some people may take it as his sincere belief, it's divisive and discriminatory. How does that help anything? Why should it be good for women feel that they're superior to men?
If Obama had a son, he could not possibly say such things with an ounce of sincerity, even if his son was just like Trayvon.
He might be right about women running the world if there were no men around to compete with, but the toxic masculinity is just that, toxic. Question: is there any kind of true masculinity that isn't feminine, neutral in some way, nor toxic?
"... the least likable thing about him"
Now that is saying something!
If only blacks were in charge of everything.
If only Gays were in charge of Everything
If only Jews were in charge of everything
Hmm...just doesn't sound right.
If only women were in charge of everything
Yes, that's the ticket.
Obama is the least masculine president we ever had. I mean, mom jeans. Really?
The Bernie Bros hate Trump. They will support Hillary, Warren or Michelle. No Problemo
My mom could out-shoot Obama on the basketball court, even at 80 years old.
It sounds to me like Obama is planning to run again... as a woman.
did Michelle say 'you get two for the price of one?"
great pacifist women leaders of the past
Women who presumably acted in self-defense of nation, community, People, and Posterity. Let's remember the great female and male Feminist leaders today with hundreds of millions in body counts and redistributive, profitable parts (e.g. #CecileTheCannibal), and diversity writ large. Then there were women who hung burning tires with care in lynching events.
OK, Choomer

Me TOO!!!
You may take offense at a man talking generalizations about women, but I don't know the basis for saying Obama was being insincere, given his unusual experience dealing with people in power.
Is it true blondes have more fun?
I wonder if those people calling for more female leadership would like a Margaret Thatcher-type as President?
Is Obama talking to Joe?
Heh. Biden is such a swamp creature -- he's used to softball media questions.
So, former Dem Sec State Kerry endorses him:
Kerry will join Biden for his "No Malarkey" bus tour in Iowa on Friday, and will travel with Biden to New Hampshire on Sunday. Kerry won the Iowa caucus and the New Hampshire Primary in 2004.
So, former Dem President Barack Obama doesn't endorse him:
“No, because everyone knows I’m close with him,” Biden said, after reiterating he had not asked the former president for his support and would not do so once the field winnowed. “I don’t need an Obama endorsement.”
Yeah right, Joe .......
"As for the stuff about women, I have heard that all my life, and I have always regarded it as manipulative and insincere."
At the very least, it's patronizing AF. But entirely consistent with the Left's view of "victims" as exploitable tools.
In Barack's defense, I doubt he sees Hillary as a woman. I bet it's never crossed his mind.

Exactly. It's pandering and its terrible pandering.
The kind peaceful leadership of Aung San Suu Kyi.
The decisive leadership of Diah Permata Megawati Setiawati Sukarnoputr in Indonesia as extremism grew there.
The clear direction of the UK under Theresa May.
It's so gross.
Obama wants to put Biden out to pasture. If Biden gets investigated, it will lead to Obama.
"but I don't know the basis for saying Obama was being insincere
Unless he was born yesterday, 2008 makes him insincere.
And I don't think it helps women gain positions of power to talk about us this way.
Women fall for it for the same reason that they fall for everything. Even cynical women can't get around it. ("What would, then, be best for women")
I wonder if those people calling for more female leadership would like a Margaret Thatcher-type as President?
Hell I'd offer them Nikki Haley. They'd balk at that, too...
’Statements like these confirm how intellectually shallow Obama is’
Made more absurd by claims that he was the smartest president in our history. He’s nothing but a dullard.
Maybe Obama wants to bring back death panels for the olds.
readering; "You may take offense at a man talking generalizations about women, but I don't know the basis for saying Obama was being insincere, given his unusual experience dealing with people in power."
LOLOLOLOL
There is NO context where a conservative or republican saying that wouldn't be a crime against humanity and trigger riots nationwide!!
But we all know that on the lefty/LLR-lefty totem of identity politics blacks are above women. Sorry Hillary!!
Just wait until Hillary gets the nomination..... someone pass the popcorn.
And does Hillary allow Michelle to jump in the race like that without trying to jump in herself? I've said that if Hillary has any say in the matter she'll be dead before she see's a first female President. She doesn't want to have to do the interviews "that could have been you, what do you think about that?" There's not enough Chardonnay in the word to drown those sorrows. And an Obama? Watch out.
This year is going to be a mess.
Really pathetic comment by Obama. Being a great leader does not come from one's gender. I have worked with both men and women who were great leaders and men and women who were terrible leaders. It truly depends on the person. Maybe Obama is inferring that any female Democrat is better than Trump.
“As for the stuff about women, I have heard that all my life, and I have always regarded it as manipulative and insincere.“ Mostly, it’s just bullshit.
Depends on what he means by leadership. A great deal of the moral deterioration of the country can be traced back to feminist extremism and the myth of the saintly single mother.
The quality of Barack’s discernment in this and other matters is amply defined by his malfunctioning presidency.
I like women in practice but not in theory.
In other words ... I'm the kind of guy who takes people as he finds them. I find most women agreeable and like them.
Same goes for men, btw.
But the theoretical woman ... the archetype ... gee, I dunno. Highly problematic, she is.
So, who do Democrats admire?
Hillary, who rode her husband's coattails and had a senate seat reserved for her in an overwhelmingly Democrat state, who accomplished nothing in the senate, and was a failure as SECSTATE.
Kamala Harris, who by all reports, slept her way to power.
Nancy Pelosi, family connections.
And who do they reject?
Sarah Palin, who ran against the establishment, and WON! At both the mayoral and governor levels. No family connections, no coattails. A fighter. But- not Ivy League enough for them, not one of the elite. After all, if you support the common people, you must be a member of the elite - or so it seems.
"I think it exacerbates the suspicion that women won't handle power effectively and rationally."
There are exceptions. Jezebel, for instance.
Obambi: "...but what I can say pretty indisputably is that you're better than us."
And yet obambi did not step aside for a woman.
As with every leftist that ever lived, they fully intend for everyone else to live by their principles, but never themselves.
See: Hollywood Stars Homes: Awfully big walls around those homes with armed security and private schools and jet getaways to Paris for lunch.
I can think of a few old women who won't get out of the way as well: Nancy Pelosi (79 yrs old, 31 years as an elected representative), Dianne Feinstein (86 years old, 41 years in some elected office); Marcy Kaptur (73 years old,36 years as an elected representative);
Once a liar, always a liar. Or should I call it pandering? Did he throw in a few "make no mistake" intros for his various pronouncements? Seems to be struggling to cope with the irrelevance of retirement he is experiencing.
Women can - and has since the time of Queen Hapshepsut - but it s a Larry Summers distribution.
Hillary shares trading at ten cents today, BTW...
Concerning Joe Biden, I've said this several times in the comments here: The videos that appear on Joe's twitter feed are just bizarre. These videos are selected by his campaign. They are his own official videos. And they portray him as old, weak, and tired. He slurs his speech and interrupts his own sentences. The subtitles struggle to keep up with his ramblings. He hectors his own audience. It would not surprise me at all if Obama was trying to nudge Biden off the stage. It would not be Machiavellian, it would be an act of mercy.
Take a look at these two, for example. Remarkable. Would you vote for this man even if you agreed with him?

Norwegian does not have this distinction between plural and singular. I think there is something in my brain that makes me use the singular form for continuous actions.
Generally speaking, older white men built the world we have today. And I'd argue it's actually a pretty good world. It's certainly got its problems, but by and large people are living longer happier lives than at any other point in human history. That's not to say that women or people of different melanin content wouldn't be capable of doing a good job leading, but if you're going to lay all the evils of the world on at the feet of the white men who were making all the big decisions, wouldn't you also have to lay all the good things too?
Why did Obama run then?? He should have let Hillary, but I guess he was selfish.
"After all, if you support the common people, you must be a member of the elite - or so it seems."
Serve the masses, sleep with the classes.
This from Red Diaper Barry, who holds on to some pretty outdated ideas.
As usual, Obama delivers the word from The Management.
Obama is so wise and good. It's just impossible that his FBI and the CIA tried to subvert the Constitution and carry out a coup. Oh, wait... OK, since he's obviously full of shit maybe he did know everything from the beginning. Also, there's the matter of those delayed action kickbacks and bribes from Nextfix and Pearson Publishing... Yeah, that's the guy we want as an expert on good governance.
Let's see... Theresa May, a fuck-up. But at least she only fucked up Brexit, and not fatally. Angela Merkel, a fuck up who is fucking a whole continent, and that's giving her the benefit of doubt. More likely she's a commie plant in league with the underground Stasi working to bring down Europe for the sake of the final victory of Marxism. Then there's Benazir Bhutto, she got where she was by the bloody ruthlessness of her father, but she was too much of a fuck up to keep her power and her life. Everything that has roiled the Middle East since 2001 is ultimately the result of her incompetence as the leader of Pakistan. Then there's Jo Swinson, leader of the Liberal Democrats, who doesn't know what a woman is but nevertheless is sure she's one of them. Luckily there aren't enough of them left in Westminister to play footie let alone legislate.
meir over eskhol, thatcher over Callaghan, after that the examples become less definitive,
As Oprah famously said about old, white people They "just have to die".
What's Obama's position on the concept of patriarchy? I have it on good authority that the only differences between men and women are socially constructed. So, did our ever repressive patriarchy create a system that socially constructs women to be better than men?
There are some strong women - i want to see more of them. Tho - If they had been in control from the start i think we would be closer to the eloi Like in the time machine. Men have built the world - we do need more strong women running. Not corrupt Hillary, Warren, Harris - where are the leaders.
Angela Merkel is a real "success" story! Obama just shows how intellectually shallow he is with statements like this.
"Barack Obama: Women are better leaders than men."
Barack knows how to leadership from behind - now interpret his remark
Deborah over Sisera. And scolding Dan for tarrying with his ships. There's that.
Obama is just the kind of passive aggressive twit to refer to Biden that way. True or not.
The main problem in the world is that old people won't get out of the way? What world is this guy living in?
Andrew: answer--no.
Men have built the world - we do need more strong women running
Yes. Equal and complementary.

Nice OT allusion, roughcoat!
As for the stuff about women, I have heard that all my life, and I have always regarded it as manipulative and insincere.
Most of us have been in organizations where women run everything.
And most of us have observed that things were not inherently better.
Once again we're supposed to ignore what we know to be true if we wish to fit into the leftist utopia.
Remember when Barack was running with Joe against McCain and some woman?
And remember when he lectured everyone on the stump the world would be better if his opponent were elected to bring a woman into the highest levels of our government?
I don't remember that either.
Merkel. That's the ticket.
given his unusual experience dealing with people in power.
Yes. Bowing before world leaders was a bit, um, unusual.
I do love the premise that it's only when ALL the world's leaders are women that Obama's premise can be tested.
As long as one man remains in power, it's not a fair test of women's superior ability to lead.
A racist bigoted Southern state voting in a woman of Indian descent?! Imagine that!
The Civil War was fought for many reasons, not limited to slavery, and its aftermath progressed and persisted for many reasons, not limited to diversity. Southerners are not uniformly diversitist or sanctimonious hypocrites. Neither are Northerners, urbane and otherwise. They never were.
Is this the same guy who said, "If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor"?
when ALL the world's leaders are women that Obama's premise can be tested
A strawclown apology and belief. Women, female, feminine, are not a monolithic bloc. They range from good to wicked, from competent to incompetent, from productive to lazy, from reliable to unreliable, from thoughtful to moron, etc. We should be wary of anyone who indulges or normalizes indulgence of diversitist thought and practice.
Most of us have been in organizations where women run everything.
My immediate experience is with hospitals, especially ORs. Female nurses always prefer male supervisors. Women supervisors always have cliques and favorites.
Let the women leaders build some grass huts for the homeless in the 9th district.
Michelle probably cut him off - he's trying to get back in her good graces.

One of my favorite OT figures, Mock. She was so cool ... sitting under her palm tree on Mt. Ephraim, judging and prophesizing and, not incidentally, presiding over the campaign that destroyed an invading army of Indo-European charioteers. So cool.
And let's not forget Yael, with her tent peg.
Don't you know women are our better half? And while you're basking in that sunshine, make me a sammich.
wasnt it just yesterday they were The Great Sanitizers?
... and now better leaders?
With all that going for you, you should be calling the shots.
Maybe it's like STEM participation-- just not that interested

Young people have this tendency to screw up.I think it's called unintended consequences. And sometimes they are intended but maliciously hidden.Like "you can keep your doctor".
And let's not forget Yael, with her tent peg. per roughcoat.
Jael, in my Bible. For those unfamiliar with the passage, Judges 4:21: Then Jael Heber's wife took a nail of the tent, and took an hammer in her hand, and went softly unto him [Sisera], and smote the nail into his temples, and fastened it into the ground: for he was fast asleep and weary. So he died.
Obviously, Obama doesn't think that his shit stinks.
Obviously, Obama doesn't think that his shit stinks.
It's ice cream.
smote the nail into his temples
What a nice lady!
What a nice lady!
Context, it's everything. She killed a warlord who had undertaken to destroy her nation and her people. He deserved what he got. And Jael (also in my Bible, KJV even though I'm Catholic) accordingly and rightly came to be regarded as a heroine of the Israelites.
There are two messages in there. The first is that women are somehow better leaders than men. The second is that the women in politics are more onboard with Obama's way of thinking than with, say, Trump's, and would bring more of what he wants to the country and the world.
The first message is pandering. Evidence doesn't clearly support it. The second message is undoubtedly true. Nowadays, women are more likely to be leaders of liberal or progressive parties. Maybe the context here is the recent change in government that brought a coalition of five left of center parties - all run by women - to power.
Still, the dig at Biden is glaring. The new book, Barack and Joe argues that Obama always intended Hillary Clinton to be his successor. He wanted the superficial "historic first" and assumed Biden would get out of the way. Joe, who did get out of the way in 2016, apparently misjudged the nature of his relationship with Barack.
Camille Paglia has said, many times, what a horrible world we would live in if women ran it.
https://www.counter-currents.com/2019/09/camille-paglia-the-consciousness-light-day-of-western-man/
"If women ruled the world we'd all be living in caves with nice curtains."
Condescending and baseless.
Obama was raised by a single mother who despised America (and presumably, Americans). So of course he favors strong women -- they're all he really knows, despite his dreams.
Roughcoat: Sometimes a woman's gotta do what a woman's gotta do. ;-)
Esther was another who saved her people.
Old Testament Women rock!
New Testament women too, for that matter. E.g., Mary and Mary.
Obama was raised by a single mother who despised America (and presumably, Americans). So of course he favors strong women -- they're all he really knows, despite his dreams.
That's pretty much the case with vast numbers of black men. Particularly in inner city neighborhoods.
Women make great leaders bullshit is just like civility bullshit. Leftist, Marxist, socialist, communist, social justice, fascist women make great leaders...conservative, not so much.
Just bring up Margaret Thatcher in a crowd of women make great leaders bullshiters and see where that gets you.
I really like "The Marvelous Mrs Maisel", but the hit job they did Amity Shlaes was disgusting.
A perfect example of, women make great leaders bullshit.
There have been cultures whose leadership descended through female lines. They didn't go too far.
I've said this before: While there are notable exceptions, women in general are not effective leaders. But they are often very powerful 'behind the throne', so to speak. And there seem to be plenty of men who prefer to be led from behind. Lady Macbeth personified this kind of woman in all her unbridled ambition.
A great uncle of mine who was a dignified, highly successful gentleman but very unassertive with women was married for many years to a female dynamo, university prof, who was most definitely wearing the pants. When she died, it wasn't but a year before he married another woman with exactly the same bossy personality. But he was happy and that's what mattered. Some guys just need that, I guess.
Because vagina!
(and perhaps a bit of static with his estrogen dominant household)

Gender is a construct! (given a skilled surgeon)
Charlie Curry - you mean Phyllis Schlafly?
Yes, just imagine the utopia that would exist if we put Lisa Page, Nellie Ohr, Pamela Karlan, Marie Yovanovitch, AOC, Ilhan Omar and Katie Hill in charge.
For some reason every time I here of someone saying the world would be better if women ran it I think of Golda Mier. To tell the truth, I wasn't paying much attention at the time of her as a leader in Israel, I was raising my family and all we knew what what we saw on TV and read in Time and Life magazines. I was noticing whem Margaret Thatcher was in power. I see no reason to elect women over men, just on what policies he or she is touting.
If you look at the world and look at the problems it's usually old people, usually old men, not getting out of the way
But not always old men. I'm looking at you RBG.

Yes, of course. My disgust overtook my thinking.
Thank you for the correction.
I guess he has lots of good things to say about Victorian England. There's a highly cooperative and classy place run by a gal. No? What an oaf.
Hmmmm...just what next year needs. BHO is setting things up for his wife. Imagine the chaos. And the last great desperate move for someone, SOMEONE, ANYONE, to beat Trump. It would put Trump in a corner, though. The sympathetic press would hail the arrival of an African-American woman candidate, and anything that Trump or his supporters do would be seen through the prism of White Folks Bigots and Orange Man Bad.
"I think it exacerbates the suspicion that women won't handle power effectively and rationally."
Let's be honest here; in my experience, they don't

That's just Obama congratulating himself again.
If Barack Obama said it, then that’s a near-certain guarantee that the opposite is true.
