It's as though the paper is honoring him.
I wonder how long that will stay on the front page in that form. It's the teaser for obituary, and there is another article — to the left — about the military raid, "Trump says Islamic State leader Baghdadi blew himself up as U.S. troops closed in." Note how that forefronts Baghdadi's agency. He "blew himself up."
If you click through to the obituary, the headline is different — "Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, Islamic State’s ‘terrorist-in-chief,’ dies at 48." So that makes the form of the headline on the front page even more startling — "Austere religious scholar..."
The obituary has that "austere religious scholar" language in the first paragraph and proceeds to tell his story within that framework:
When Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi took the reins of the Islamic State of Iraq in 2010, few had heard of the organization or its new leader, an austere religious scholar with wire-frame glasses and no known aptitude for fighting and killing....ADDED: The oldest comment at the WaPo obituary is:
[D]espite [ISIS]’s extremist views and vicious tactics, Mr. Baghdadi maintained a canny pragmatism as leader, melding a fractious mix of radical jihadists and former Iraqi Baathists and army officers into an effective military force. It was this combination of extremist ideology and practical military experience that enabled the group to seize and hold territory that would form the basis of a declared Islamic caliphate....
He graduated from the University of Baghdad in 1996 and received a master’s degree in Koranic recitation from the Saddam University for Islamic Studies in 1999.... By 2003, at age 31, he was well on his way to a doctorate and a shot at a full professorship. But after U.S. troops invaded Iraq that year, he signed up with a local resistance movement...
He was arrested in the Iraqi city of Fallujah in 2004 and, in a fateful turn, landed at the notorious and now-defunct Camp Bucca prison. The vast, U.S.-run detention facility warehoused nearly 26,000 Iraqi men at a time in communal tents, and U.S. military officials later acknowledged that it served at times as a recruitment and training center for jihadists.
“Extremists mingled with moderates in every compound,” Vasilios Tasikas, who served at the time as a Coast Guard lieutenant commander in charge of legal operations at the prison, wrote in a 2009 essay in the Military Review. Over time, he wrote, the mixing of hardened jihadists and Iraqi civilians “fueled the insurgency inside the wire.”...
[I]n 2014, Mr. Baghdadi... announc[ed] the founding of the caliphate... [with himself] as the living heir to the line of great warrior-emirs from Islam’s early history.
In his dress and movements, he symbolically evoked the prophet himself, from his black turban and robe to the traditional miswak, a carved wooden teeth-cleaning stick that Muhammad was said to have favored.
Foreshadowing? (fingers-crossed)And that is followed by:
President Trump “had run into a ‘dead-end tunnel’ before he ‘ignited his vest,’ killing himself and three of his children,
That would be too kind. Trump has earned public humiliation and global scorn. He deserves to suffer. Locked-in syndrome sounds appropriate. We can parade him around and pelt him with offal.Incredible.
ADDED: They've changed it. As of 11:34 (CT), the front page teaser for the obituary is "Extremist leader of Islamic State dies at 48":
160 comments:
Looks like the DNC talking points have been released.
Can anyone deny that the WaPo has gone totally off the rails?
Kayla Mueller begs to differ...
DEMOCRACY DIES IN DARKNESS!
Is anyone surprised? The hivemind left hate Trump so much, they would rather run into the arms of head-chopping, women-enslaving, children-enslaving mass murderer.
“One person’s terrorist is another person’s freedom fighter.”
clues as to which side WaPo favors if Trump is in the mix.
Note that Ilhan Nur Said Elmi (pen name Ilhan Omar) has yet to weigh in.
Intolerant President Trump orders killing spree on Muslims.
It sounds as if we should be sending VP Pence and other dignitaries to his funeral. I am sure many heads of state will be there to mourn his passing, offer eulogies as to his honor and all the good things he has done.
THIS is WHY I call it the WaPoo.
Just another reason to hate and distrust the Washington Post.
If these Post writers had been around in 1945:
“Adolph Hitler, German politician noted for his landscape paintings, died today. He was preceded in death by his wife and longtime partner Eva Hitler (nee Braun) ...
WaPoo is really off in la la land.
I guess the DNC has become a branch of the Caliphate.
American Jews seem to have joined, as well.
Almost 90 percent of Jews who responded said that the extreme political right presents an anti-Semitic threat. Less, though, said the same about “extremism in the name of Islam” — only 85 percent said it represents an anti-Semitic threat in the United States.
Seeing as how 90% of "extreme political right" offenses are hoaxes...
Max Boot is no doubt working up an homage to this simple man of god as we speak.
“Incredible.” Not really. Spend a little time on Facebook looking at the posts by The Resistance and these kinds of things are not hard to find. I have unfriended or quit following a few people over things like this.
Those comments are almost unbelievable. So they think it would be hunky dory for Trump to kill himself and three of his children? And "He deserves to suffer". This is alarming.
So the Left did take Trump's bait.
Wow. That is fucking warped. Does the 25th amendment work for newspapers editors?
Same film, two different movies?
"Austere religious scholar". That's not the first descriptive phase that springs to mind when thinking of him. "Noted vegetarian and dog lover commits suicide in bunker."
I suppose he had some talents and skills and due cognizance should be taken of them, but he was ultimately stupid and brutal and those were his most important qualities.....I don't think he was turned to ISIS because of Bush's internment policies. He turned to ISIS because he was stupid and brutal.
Die

You recorded everything
You disgusting
Redbearded fuck
We got you
We'll get your heir
Die
Scholar huh?
As I speculated, I wonder if there’s a “Dog Cam” video of Baghdadi’s final moments.
And bezos wonders what happened to the contract...
I read WaPoos today, oh boy
About the man who made the caliphate
And though the news was not so bad
Well, I just had to cry
I'd rather Trump had died
Why would any pro-democrat "news" source give Trump or our army special ops any credit?
Swooning is for the D-party only.
That’s totally fucked up.
Who’s side is WaPo on?
Often press bias is most apparent not in what they say so much as what they don't bother mentioning. Today is not such a day.
2 movie reality indeed...
Perhaps she should make another comparison, as well. President Barack Obama, also seen cozying up to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Iran and various other bad actors, reportedly bragged, “Turns out I’m really good at killing people. Didn’t know that was gonna be a strong suit of mine.”

Bin Laden was an obscure ascetic. Also a bit of an asthete when it came to porn.
And just like that, the media take the bait Trump threw out there with this morning's public address. I mean, the media in this country appear to be run by cretins. This is what the WaPo on May 2, 1945 would have read had Trump been President:
Artist and Leader of the German Third Reich Commits Suicide
May 2, 1945: When Adolph Hitler and his Nazi Party took the reins of the German State in 1933, few had heard of the organization or its new leader, a man who loved to paint.......
...despite the Nazi Party's extremist views and vicious tactics, Mr. Hitler maintained a canny pragmatism as leader, melding a fractious mix of radical nationalists and socialists and former German army officers from WWI into an effective political and social force. It was this combination of extremist ideology and practical military experience that enabled the group to seize and hold territory that would form the basis of a declared 3rd Reich....
Hitler had no formal education, and his career prospects after WWI looked grim. By 1921, he was looking at a bleak future, but after the US imposed Treaty of Versailles, he signed up with a local political movement....
He was arrested in Munich after a failed coup, and in a fateful turn, landed at the notorious Landsberg Prison. The detention facility warehoused many deported Nazis, and officials later acknowledged that it served at times as a recruitment and training center for Hitler's cadres. It was during this time that Hitler penned his riveting political manifesto, "Mein Kampf".
“Extremists mingled with moderates in every compound,” Bernard Kleinschmitz, who served at the time as a guard commander in charge of legal operations at the prison. Over time, he wrote, the mixing of hardened Nazis and run of the mill criminals “fueled the insurgency inside the wire.”...
[I]n 1930, Mr. Hitler... announc[ed] the platform repudiating the Treaty of Versailles, and promised to address the problems of the economic depression that had settled over Germany following the implosion of the US stock markets.
In his dress and movements, he symbolically evoked the idea of the German Fuhrur, from his suits to his traditional mustache.
This is what the Leftist Collectivists are.
They hate America.
That hate Normals.
Damnit! Big Mike beat me to it! And all that work I did modifying WaPo.
A sad day in WaPo world. As bad as the day P-38s shot down austere , beloved Japanese Naval Planner named Yamamoto.
It's like they see themselves in this guy.
Has Trump put anyone in a cage and set them alight? Has Trump put people in cages and lowered them into the water to drown? Has Trump put a bunch of people on their knees in a row with explosives around their neck and then hit the detonator? Has Trump burned a bunch women and girls to death? Has Trump had children chopping off heads in the town square and forced others to watch? Has Trump turned the water red with blood from people being beheaded?
The American left has left 'demented'in the dust and is speeding right along to 'threat to humanity' territory.
Other Post headlines from history, if you switched in this President :
- Iranian students showing embassy officials a focused hospitality.
- Unexpected Japanese navy activity spurring American economic growth.
- Courageous Marine tries his best to hurry up long traffic jam in Dallas.
ARM and Gadfly will be along shortly to explain:
1) This did not really happen at all and is just a distraction from impeachment
AND
2) obama deserves all the credit
And they will argue both points simultaneously.
The full full blown lefty/islamic alliance is now completely in the open.
Just in time for 2020.
Austere author and vegetarian leader of Germany, who pioneered his country’s non smoking campaign, dies in bunker — Washington Post, May 1945
The front-page headline has been changed. It now reads "Extremist leader of Islamic State dies at 48." So, kinda of like a Republican to WaPo.
"In his dress and movements, he symbolically evoked the prophet himself, from his black turban and robe to the traditional miswak, a carved wooden teeth-cleaning stick that Muhammad was said to have favored."
Woke up, fell out of bed
Thought, now who can I behead
Found my way down to my safe space cave
And looking up I noticed drones I hate
Found my turban, grabbed my robe
Double-checked my frontal lobe
Found my miswak stick and cleaned my teeth
The wives were rather stressed so we went into our vests
Head chopper extraordinaire
Killer of women
Children
Machinegunning the elderly
@Lucid Ideas, and the last three children he killed were his own.
WaPo giving relevance to Nancy Pelosi - Spark of Divinity.
I was going to write the same thing, when I read "Big Mike's" comment.
"National Socialist Party Leader dead at 55 in apparent suicide."
What about the Wapo take on Bonnie and Clyde:
"Celebrity Texas Couple die in police altercation."
I assume he got to rape a bunch of those Yazidi girls.
And now I see Yancy had done an in-depth parody, Great minds think alike!
The JV team was doing pretty well until the free world got itself a real leader. Those damned deplorables.
traditionalguy: "A sad day in WaPo world. As bad as the day P-38s shot down austere , beloved Japanese Naval Planner named Yamamoto."
Your point is well taken, however I do want to note, and I'm sure you will agree, Yamamoto was a great and honorable man who did his duty for his nation.
Yamamoto opposed the alliance with Germany and with his usual precision estimated it would take just 6 months for victory in the Pacific to be in doubt post-Pearl Harbor attack.
How long till Omar and Tlaib and AOC post a #BringBackAlBaghdadi hashtag?
Yet AOC is worried that Facebook will print fake news?
Any time there's good news and Trump is responsible the MSM reaction is:
1) Trump's not so great.
2) Its REALLY bad news - look beneth the surface
3) Trump has exaggerated his role
4) Its only temporary
5) This reminds us of the time Trump screwed up xyz
6) This is 25% of what Trump promised
7) Obama would've done it better.
I assume he got to rape a bunch of those Yazidi girls.
I assume he got first pick -- and that he picked all the 12-year-olds.
So have we yet found human scum in Washington swamp?
Sounds like what the newspapers might have said about Jesus, if newspapers and Jesus had actually existed.
WaPo would do well to bury that headline. People might start connecting dots between “austere religious leader” and “terrorist”, start looking into “lesser jihad” and violence, and conclude Islam ain’t no ROP.
I may be late to the party, but it's already gone. Just like, hopefully, the Millennial junior staffer who wrote it.
during the raid they garnered documents, including ones pertaining to
the origins of ISIS.
hmmmm. Ju- sayyyy!!
They changed the headline.
Theocracy Dies In Fireworks Mishap
Also read an article this morning about Smithsonian magazine publishing an article in it's latest edition about a guy following Che Guevara's motorcycle travels through Cuba. He did so in gushing tones about the psychotic mass murderer, like the left continually does. The way the left now just simply cannot tell the difference between murderous thugs with failed philosophies that destroy entire cultures, and that which is Good and Right, has reached embarrassment levels.
What exactly do universities hand out degrees for these days? Yikes. Every direction I turn, those who are supposed to know, simply do not.
WaPo is a waste. A half-way house for infantile activists parading around as Journalists(!).
Can you imagine WaPo painting such as carefully textured obit on a US religious figure who disagreed with gay marriage? Or, let's just say the owner of Chick Fil-A. Mr. Cathay would not receive as gracious an obit as al-Baghdadi did. What a disgrace that paper has become.
Question for Clapper, Brennan, Hillary, and Obama:
Why did you run guns from the failed state of Libya (which you caused to fail) to ISIS in Syria, by way of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt?
Oh, and James Crapper has already been on CNN saying that alBagdadhi's death is a bad thing.
Washington Post Headline from April 30, 1945:
Famous German painter dies in Berlin Basement
I just came by to look at the comments to see if Robert Cook commented. He completely disavowed liberals treating this guy is a hero in your other post and I'm really interested to see what he would say now
Great catch, Althouse - it's gone already! 'austere scholar' RIP
That headline is about as on point as “Political Thought Leader at head of Nazi Party Dies in Berlin Bunker.”
Not to be outdone, Rolling Stone will publish an al-Baghdadi glamour shot cover next week.
My favorite thing about daesh is that they recorded everything. It is a bold statement to say so but never before has such inhumanity been so well documented, not even the nazis were so thorough. Their crimes are spread through the whole consciousness of mankind and imprinted in the minds of everyone who's had the stomach to watch the evidence.
Some want to suppress it but I do not. It should be part of advanced series historical and philosophical education. They gave no quarter and embraced it wholeheartedly. They and their heirs and descendants shall receive none. We do not have to kill them for us to exact our revenge.
We are most definitely better than them. It is not a relative comparison.
"religious scholar"
His last thought before blowing himself up: "72 virgins, here I come!"
They changed the headline but it still reveals what they actually think. Just like with Birkel laughing off the escape of terrorists, we should not forget what these unguarded glimpses tell us. The WaPo *was* honoring him — because he was a Trump foe, because he was anti American.

Much closer to 99.9%.
What ISIS had going for it above all was a remarkable group, apparently, of exceptional military talents. ISIS punched far above its weight in terms of numbers and armaments. This was consistent throughout its short history. They often defeated vastly larger forces that were also vastly better armed in any conventional sense. They also held out for years against vastly superior forces.
Their capture of Mosul followed by the massacre of its defenders was a feat of the first order. Their Mosul enclave held out against ten times their number, backed by the pinnacle of global techno-war expertise, for three years. And more of this in Syria.
We, the global public, dont know who these people were. Somebody does I suppose. They were the dangerous ones.
Day after day
The man who beheads
This taking it on the road
Was wearing out all his Keds
But WaPo don’t want to kill him
They can use him as one more tool
In their long fight against the POTUS
But the man who beheads
Knows that he’s goin’ down
And the eyes from his head
Are now marbles on the ground
And this is why America as we know it will never heal again.
Because of opposition to a man, we have watched half of the country speak openly about their disdain for the Constitution, their disgust for much of the citizenry, the dishonorable alliances they make, and their pleasure in lies and slander.
They speak loudly, because the media support them, feed them, encourage them, and the media quiets yet more voices that disagree.
Common denominator things are common no longer.
And -- my apologies to the Professor -- cruel neutrality only works if there is a remaining remnant of neutral ground.
At this point neutrality only codifies the behavior as acceptable, and the imbalance is frozen into place.
There is not a viable Democrat one can vote for in the upcoming election that isn't complicit in this state of affairs.
Making such voters complicit.
That Bastille ain't gonna storm itself.
I am Laslo.
Exactly as you would suspect, Twitter is claiming POTUS is lying, it never happened and it's just to distract from his imminent impeachment.
"He graduated from the University of Baghdad in 1996 and received a master’s degree in Koranic recitation from the Saddam University for Islamic Studies in 1999... "
They grant a masters for one's ability to recite the Koran.
Some facts are more useful than others.
Temujin mistakenly said...
The way the left now just simply cannot tell the difference between murderous thugs with failed philosophies that destroy entire cultures, and that which is Good and Right, has reached embarrassment levels.
Oh, NO! they can MOST ASSUREDLY CAN TELL the difference.
The first group, they adore, and worship
The second group; they despise and hate; which is Why they Love the first group
Yes, President Pierre Delecto, you were right, al-Baghdadi left quite a bloodstain.
You have to admire the consistency of the Post, at least. They are all about the destruction of the West, all the time.
readering: "They changed the headline."
LOL
Only after your WaPo lefty heroes were blasted by all non-liberals for your WaPo pals astonishing whitewashing of an islamic mass murderer of women and children.
But this is what is goin to keep on happening now that the left is fully and completely aligned with militant Islam.
And that alliance is rampant across all western nations.
Ken B,
Your lies about me are noted.
"Beasts of England said...
Not to be outdone, Rolling Stone will publish an al-Baghdadi glamour shot cover next week."
The al-Baghdadi t-shirts should sell well in the Schiff SCIF, don't you think? Che would be green with envy.
"I just came by to look at the comments to see if Robert Cook commented. He completely disavowed liberals treating this guy is a hero in your other post and I'm really interested to see what he would say now”
Let him know that I am here to accept his grudging admission that I was right.
I don’t quite agree with Laslo. They don’t hate Trump voters as an extension of their hatred of Trump. They hate Trump voters and their hatred of Trump is just that broader hatred focused.
per @paulsperry
Obama CIA deputy Michael Morell on CBS "Face the Nation" slammed Trump for engaging in "locker room" talk about bringing back the slain ISIS kingpin's "body parts," arguing he should have shown more respect under Islamic customs like Obama did w Osama bin Laden's body
Whack Jen Psaki echoing similar
Welcome to Hell you terrorist son of a bitch.
Abu Bakr, we hardly knew ye.
Loose lips sinks ships.
We, the global public, dont know who these people were. Somebody does I suppose. They were the dangerous ones.
Quite a few were westerners and the fanaticism probably cancelled out the usual Arab army failures of command and control. Early on there were some Saddam generals involved. I don't know about more recently.
bin Laden was a retired old man when we got him, this guy was leading an active army. So yeah, it is bigger than bin Laden.
Isn't it interesting? That sometimes people (i'm talking about YOU Robert Cook) are right there...
And other times; they Just Disappear?
Robert Cook? Where ARE you? we're worried about your selfdelusionness
I really would like to know if he raped any female prisoners (as he taught was permitted) because that could be used to crucify the WaPo over “austere”.
Koranic scholars are a dime a dozen. There are hundreds of thousands of people who have memorized the Koran. And the Hadiths. There are hundreds of thousands, or millions, of Muslim religious fanatics also, and there always have been. And so also wildly brutal, pitiless fanatics, or for that matter strictly secular characters willing to do anything that seems necessary or worthwhile or amusing.
Nothing new there. These sorts of people above are and always have been an endless resource.
Whats not a dime a dozen are people capable of winning at odds of 10:1, with light infantry, against armored, mechanized opponents with air supremacy and artillery.
But now he has all those virgins to f**k. And 'boys like scattered pearls'.
Ah, Laslo! You are priceless!
You no longer have one America, you have two.
Your own internal conflict is the most significant, dangerous one on Earth.
More so than the US-China superpower rivalry.
And enormously more important than ISIS ever was.
If your conflict goes bad - and it doesn't have to be very violent, if at all - the global effects will be devastating.
The CIA owned media and experts are coordinated in pushing this as a big victory for ISIS reconstituting themselves in the Levant by warning them we have intelligence assets. You know, like the great Japanese Navy's victory at Midway.
It's all Tokyo Rose broadcasts all of the time. More proof that Trump is winning big time.
We need a Hitler Bunker video.
AA, thank you for flashing a light unto the MSM, in this case WAPO, because such lies happen daily. Look at that reporter on NPR, Mark Shields, stating: "...If Democrats Win Trump Counties, These Voters 'Wouldn't Be Racists',,,". Truly disgusting! The more people, like AA, who expose this bias hopefully we will finally put the dent into these lies.
ADDED: They've changed it. As of 11:34 (CT), the front page teaser for the obituary is "Extremist leader of Islamic State dies at 48"
So someone explained reality to the editors at the Post? Not that they won't make the same mistake again, and again, and again.
The CIA owned media and experts are coordinated in pushing this as a big victory for ISIS reconstituting themselves in the Levant
They said the same after 9/11. I had to check the year we are in.
"It's as though the paper is honoring him."
Not "as though." They are just on the other side. Anyone who is against Trump, they are for. Any Trump triumph, they are against.
By the way, Althouse, are you still not supporting either side?
"Incredible."
Why? They hate Trump. Ever since 1789, violence has been the leftist MO. So why incredible? After the Vendee, after the kulaks, after the Gulag, after the Great Leap Forward, after the Cultural Revolution, after the Killing Fields, after the Shining Path, believe it: they believe in their own violent fantasies. They just want them to be real.
So, between violent progs and Trump plus his deplorables, are you still "neutral"?
Instapundit:
"WASHINGTON POST, 800 YEARS AGO: Genghis Khan, beloved father to thousands, expert horsebreeder at helm of Mongolia, dies."
"he symbolically evoked the prophet himself"
Whose prophet? Wapo doesn't even try to hide their love of Islam.
"Beloved cleric dies in darkness"
well satire is not only dead, it's gone zombie, remember not that long ago, sheikh awda, who issued so many fatwas, against coalition forces, well pat leahy is asking for a reprieve, he was the deputy head of the union of moslem scholars, of course reuters, years ago dubbed bin laden, 'well known Saudi dissident' and then we have them gnashing their teeth over shahid
jamal khashoggi,
WaPo leftists weep for the dead killer. ... wish Trump and his family dead.
All while they criminalize the words "Do me a favor" and let corrupt Hillary and Corrupt Biden off the hook.
Heh
FU - Democrat hack corruption excusing leftist boot liking WaPo.
Good luck with your twisted twisting BS.
I never wish death to my worst enemies, but I wish the editors of Wa Po long lives full of pain, suffering and torment.
Sometimes Althouse is charmingly naive. The post cites two insane comments wishing death on the President and then says "Incredible." Good Lord, where have you been. Those are very common comments on the Post, NYT, and a host of other MSM sites. Pick any random article that mentions the President at all, and the comments are littered with that kind of garbage. It has been that way since January 2017.
The initial headline was no mistake. The Post knows its readership, and it is reflected in those comments. They are giving their readers what they want. They just did not anticipate any blowback (except from some conservative media which they do not care about anyway).
Some WaPo commenters are human scum.
So someone explained reality to the editors at the Post? Not that they won't make the same mistake again, and again, and again.
They saw some of this mockery.
I just did a search on the page for Robert cook and all I found were people saying the same thing I did. I don't know what the others think but I don't think the problem is is that he's not seeing clearly, it's just that he has ends in mind and he needs to stick to them no matter what. We are all going to have to adopt the same strategy of the ends justify the means. You can't have principles in an unprincipled world
Also, he didn’t get Nancy and Chuck’s approval so off with his head! Or maybe just impeach...
"austere religious scholar"
I know the WaPo is getting a lot of abuse, but I say they were almost right: what they meant to convey, I am sure, is that the murderous terrorizing rapist scholar was merely applying the actual teachings of his religion.
Democracy Dies in Austerity - with this one weird trick!
I think my favorite was a tweet to the WaPo. “Sorry for your loss."
As Trump says, think of the Americans and others... those long lines of men dressed in orange murdered on beaches and elsewhere.
Those fighting the remnants of ISIS should forget about the rehabilitation of the ISIS prisoners, they should show them the same mercy shown to those ISIS took prisoner. Which is none. You eradicate pestilence.
It's bigger than bin Laden. When Bin Laden died, he was hiding, not an active al Qaeda leader.
This "austere scholar" was active killing people, he was presiding over ISIS, a terrorist organization that was more ambitious and more violent than al Qaeda. Of course killing him gives John Clapper the sweat that his cohorts would come over to kill Clapper, the Crapper.
If I could find a hard copy of today's Washington Post, I would burn it in public.
THEOLDMAN
The MSM is indeed The Enemy of the American People. Human Scum also.
Gandhi had a harem of captured sex slaves, right?
This is classic “The enemy of my enemy is my friend” thinking from the WaPo.
ISIS provided great health care and schools, however, and it was free for your entire life.

Their pathology is much greater than Trump. They blamed 911 on America for all the same reasons when Trump was still a Democrat. The left may have thought there were understood limits to their anti-American teachings. But they're finding out setting limits isn't any easier with anti-Americanism than they are when you give a child a gun. Of course it's been going on so long I don't know that many of them still wish the limits existed.

Did Trump have any involvement in this? Did he have the consent of military lawyers? Nancy Pelosi? Mitt Romney? Adam Schiff? Barbra Streisand? Robert Mueller? The real president, Hillary?

Not to be outdone, Bloomberg News writes, ... al Baghdadi “transformed himself from a little known teacher of Koranic recitation into the self-proclaimed ruler of an entity that covered swaths of Syria and Iraq.”

Stalin was progressive, then liberal, a progressive liberal, far left. He was an advocate for selective-Ukrainian, among his other Pro-Choice policies.
“Their capture of Mosul followed by the massacre of its defenders was a feat of the first order. Their Mosul enclave held out against ten times their number, backed by the pinnacle of global techno-war expertise, for three years. And more of this in Syria.“
Hiding amongst the population - human shields, as it were - is a valiant way to fight a war.
If only Comrade Bezos knew about this!
It was a paid obit. The NYT has them too. Apparently a real money maker.
Forth Eight. So young!
Maybe they've adopted the AP Style Book: One man's "extremist" is another man's freedom fighter.
I was too young to vote for Goldwater, but I remember when "extremist" was a bad word for leftists. How times have changed!
I think that the Brits would call this a “massive own goal” by the Post.
Wapo some day: "On Friday night at 1am, inventor of the mobile humidor and pizza delivery service, Bill Clinton, passed away from a heart attack while doing charity counseling work for the Pedophile Island Girls Shelter."

"Regarding our al-Baghdadi obituary, the headline should never have read that way and we changed it quickly.
WaPo trolling
Couldn't they work in the fact that he was a psychopath?
"Extremist leader"? Was he in favor of the emancipation of women or something? Did any of his four wives drive?
I bet Kayla Mueller did.
Howard, one would hope WaPo thought more of their reputation than you do of yours. All they did was make themselves look foolish and particularly dismissive of the man's horrendous crimes against humanity.
November 24, 1994- Washington Post:
Noted animal anatomist and amateur chef Jeffrey Dahmer died from workplace violence.
Howard: "WaPo trolling"
So that's the latest lefty moron fallback position?
LOL
And it only took you what? About 16 hours to come up with it?
Too funny.
Cant wait to see what you come up with in the wuss out/excuse making category by tomorrow morning!
My expectation? You'll be claiming Trump wrote the WaPo headline and Schiff-ty will call for hearings on Trump interference in WaPo editorial decision making.
Its the only avenue available now.
The Washington Post...their tagline for a long time was, "if you don't get it, you don't get it." Most don't get it because they don't want it.
Democracy Dies In The Darkness Of The Editor's Room.
John Wilkes Booth, noted actor and later, theatre critic, dies in tragic barn fire during horseback tour of Virginia countryside.
Booth was just 26 -- a year shy of founding the "27 Club" -- an exclusive cadre of American movers and shakers.
This headline is just another reason to vote for Trump--that is to say for those who think.
You have to remember that the Washington Post is still only a high school newspaper and as such should never be taken seriously.
"Democracy Dies in Darkness of Stealth Edits"
Some really excellent mordant humour on display in this thread, thanks everyone for brightening up the day.
Democracy dies with misinformation.
I'm surprised that they haven't bemoaned that it apparently was 'take-your-children-to-work' day for ISIS.
Beside being a religious scholar, he was also a community organizer. Let's show some respect here, people!
