Impeachable!

He's trying to rig the vote on "Dancing with the Stars":

How about waiting until we've seen the actual dancing so you can at least pretend it's a judgment on the merits?

So unprincipled.

Somehow this made me think: I'd like to see Adam Schiff on "Dancing with the Stars."

That does it for me!! Kick Trump to the curb...

The celebrities and dancers are all out there soliciting votes beforehand. Why not Trump too? Spicer seems to be getting a lot of audience votes - he's got a good attitude but not a lot of natural talent. I think it's a reaction against all the negatively when Spicer was chosen to appear on the show. Also could be a show of Trump support.

One of the things the Left doesn't understand about Trump is that he likes to have some fun. Considering that he's under attack 24/7/365 it is understandable.

Trump is, without a doubt, the mentally toughest President in my lifetime. He's there with Washington, Lincoln and FDR.

Considering the overwhelming weight of what we already know, there really isn't the need for a vote, is there?

I saw Spicer on DWTS on previous episodes and he seemed ok - he was actually trying to dance, not the best, not the worst. As I understand the ever changing voting process, the voting starts at the of the episode. When we organized a voting party for Emmitt Smith season 3 announcements went out a week in advance. The day after is too late, voting is closed

Argggh, my eyes!

Adam Schiff is too stiff and boring to be a credible contestant on the show - unless he has a wild side we haven't yet seen.

traditionalguy said...

That's entertainment. He just doubled the audience for this DWTS.

Maybe Spicer can be re-hired to help his friend Tap Dance through the Impeachment.

Why bother? Putin has already picked the winner.

I believe if you mosey on down to a DC subway
Men’s bathroom stall you just might get a glimpse of Schiff’s “wild” side.

Sean Spicer is amusing on the show, but he's a lousy dancer.

Spicer has been dancing for two weeks now. There is not much of the dancing that is meritorious, but there is enough sample size for you to actually make a judgement without pretense.

Spicer could dance like Fred Astaire, and those lefties will give him 2's.

Adam Schiff doing the bug-eyed bugaloo.

I'll do it, if I don't forget. For fun. Kinda like voting for Trump in California, won't make a difference but curious to see how many votes he gets.

Because previous commenters have pointed out Spicer cannot dance worth a damn, every vote for him is a vote for Trump.

BTW, Hillary would be a great contestant.

It will be interesting to see how the tweet will change the viewership numbers. The last three shows had just north of 6 million viewers but the premiere was viewed by 8 million.

I'd like to see Adam Schiff behind bars with the rest of the coup planners.

Yeah, me too. Except with him wearing an orange one-piece instead of a nice frilly dance costume. And maybe sneakers instead of dancing shoes. Leg chains to restrict his movement. Wrists bound to a table where he is seated answering questions. A Federal Attorney across the table from him, asking tough questions, instead of Bruno Tonioli purring.

If you want to see a REALLY funny impersonation of Adam Schiff, here's a link to the Greg Gutfeld show, where comedienne Tom Shillue did his impersonations.... https://www.facebook.com/GregGutfeldShow/

The show becomes less interesting when the bad dancers get thrown off. They should throw off the people in the middle.

That's not in the rules say the same type of people who brought us Boaty McBoatface...

Schiff on DWtS? First take? Who on the left is capable of having fun? A good time? Go along for the joy of joy? Conservative are serious, but know how to enjoy themselves, make fun of themselves, just because. Mostly because we know who we are, and are good with that.

The left would tell you truth positive that Spicer is evil. 90% of the nation, all the nation. left, right, independent, all agree Spicer is literaly Hitlers henchman, and all but a few crazies hate him.

DWtS comes along and proves the leftist narrative is hokum.

This post has reminded me Spicer must be a viewer favorite. Precisely why there is a media blackout...along comes President Trump on twitter, forcing the facts to the fore.

Quaestor said...

So unprincipled.

If we apply the "Althouse principle" to presidential elections, then the only principled campaign advertising, canvassing, voter solicitation, etc. are those on behalf of the incumbent, since he's the only candidate we've seen "dance".

Darrell said...

The audience votes for their favorites--as always. The judges detract for mistakes to arrive at a score because they know how every move, every element should be performed. The lowest combined score of audience and judges' votes and scores leaves the show each week. It was always thus. That's why Pop singers with millions of fans get voted off when the fans get bored or distracted by another event--like the MTV Video Awards.

readering said...

Now I know Miss Universe was rigged.

Unfortunately, Mr Shiff is currently booked on "Dancing with the Star Chamber."

Yancey Ward said...

I wonder what the audience for DWTS is like? I would guess it skews old and white. Spicer might be able to win, especially if the Left takes Trump's bait on this one.

Not rig (prejudice), but rather steer (bias) the vote a la NYT and close associations, social media platforms/deplatforming, the Alphabet/Google umbrella corporation et al, Democratic witch hunts and warlock trials, etc. Fortunately, this time, it's just entertainment.

"So unprincipled." People gonna vote for whomever, no matter what anyone says. Fagettaboutit!

First ever criticism of a Trump tweet. And on such a vital matter of public importance!

You are so brave!

"That's not in the rules say the same type of people who brought us Boaty McBoatface..."

The "serious" people got their way on that one. They pretended to honor the vote by naming an onboard boat "Boaty McBoatface," while naming the ship what they wanted all along. Kind of like the Brexit vote.

Ralph L said...

I saw 2 minutes of Tucker Carlson on DWTS several years ago. He was awful, but fortunately, they didn't have him dance much. The girl did all the work.

Quaestor said...

Schiff on DWtS, eh?

I don't watch television except accidentally in bars, airports, the homes of friends who have theirs set to PERPETUAL mode, etc. Consequently, I can attest, perhaps proudly, Dancing with the Stars is something I am only aware of conceptually. And as a concept, the premise of such an entertainment ranks with slug salting as an example vaguely sadistic diversions for underachieving teenagers — watching obscure celebrities (think on that one for a moment) caper arhythmically in ill-fitted evening attire or — god help us — in hoodies and Gansta bling while popular music blares through your 7.0 speakers... sets my teeth on edge.

That said the notion of Adam Schiff appearing as a contestant is intriguing. Lately, I have become convinced that Adam Schiff is a persona — a contrivance by a malign performance artist intent on holding the entire institution of constitutional self-government up to ridicule, sort of like Andy Kaufman's chick-wrestling bouts. The spectacle of that pudgy automaton spasmodically gyrating in a dance-like manner... wow.

I'd prefer to see Shifty Schiff "Dancing On the Scaffold."

Althouse, bless your heart! Don't I remember you soliciting votes for some long ago Best Blogger competition?

bagoh20 said...

If Spicer actually managed to win, can a he be impeached out of it? It certainly would not be allowed to stand.

bagoh20 said...

If Trump haters feel the same way about Trump as I do about Schiff, then I understand TDS, a little. As much as I would like to see Schiff damaged, I still would not suspend logic, facts, and the Constitution to get it.

I don't consider Spicer evil. A craven liar, yes, but not evil.

Sebastian said...

"So unprincipled."

I realize this may be an instance of "women doing humor," but still: f** principle. In the culture war, the Russia hoax, the Kavanaugh persecution, and the impeachment conspiracy all principles are gone. Harvard itself showed judgment on merit is a sham.

We deplorables would prefer to act on principle and judge on merit. But we also prefer to not be fools. So after Trump, we refuse to be principled losers.

Skeptical Voter said...

That seals it! Trump is a Russki agent! I caught one glimpse of Sean Spicer dancing on DWTS (I don't watch much TV--and certainly not DWTS). Spicer dances like a bear--a Russian Bear! So Spicer is really one of Putin's Poodles (or baby bears anyway) and if Trump is promoting votes for this Russki Dancing Fool--well then Trump is guilty! Of something anyway.

Where is Laslo Spatula when you need him? Turn him loose on Spicer's performance and we'll all have a good laugh.

Which, by the way is what Spicer seemed to be having. Credit him for doing the best he could with what talent (or mostly lack thereof) he had.

By the way, don't show Adam Schiff this note. He'll simply add Trump's endorsement of Spicer to the list of "impeachable offenses".

Boy, girl collusion, definitely. Russian-American, Ukrainian-American? They only pose 1/2 the risk for gerrymandering democracy.
