"Paris Jackson was hospitalized Saturday after she attempted suicide -- and family sources tell us it's due in large to the fallout from 'Leaving Neverland.'"

"Law enforcement sources tell us police and EMS responded to Paris' LA home at 7:30 AM. We're told Michael Jackson's only daughter slit her wrists. Our sources say she was transported to a hospital and placed on 5150 hold. She's currently in stable condition.... The fallout from 'Leaving Neverland' has been severe.... Paris has had a hard time since her dad's death in 2009. She attempted suicide back in 2013 as well, and has been open about her struggles with depression in the past."

TMZ reports.

ADDED: "'F– you you f–ing liars,' the model and actress tweeted at [TMZ] just minutes after they published their report.... It was followed by another tweet from her: eight question marks and a scowling emoji." the Wrap reports.

There really are some people who should not reproduce. I know some
who have the misfortune of having had such parents.

The fans are no better. We've created colosseums filled with athletes and actors to live and die for our amusement. Most the news these days is driven by outrage porn, tune in to discover what might have happened to Natalie Holloway next. Even here, we are subjected to Inga Abuse because it increases traffic for the advertisers.

It is said that to see who rules you, find out who you may not speak against. I think Madison Ave runs a lot more than we know.

Slitting one's wrists is a very ineffective way to kill oneself.

If Ms. Jackson happens to read this, let me say I'll be more thoughtful going forward in the way that I talk about Michael Jackson, and also the way in which I acknowledge the truth of the criticism that I have enjoyed white privilege.

Yah, woman often deliberately do it wrong, they don't really want to die the want others to respond to their cry for help. Men attempt suicide less but when they do they nail it.

I have offered to act as a consultant for many Feminists on this issue, but apparently there are some gaps the don't really want closed in the name of Equality. Workplace deaths is another. Go figure.

I feel sorry for her, like I feel sorry for anyone who is mentally ill.

But its sorta weird when some nationwide story like this breaks and I'm like "who is Paris Jackson?" After a certain age, its simply impossible to care about all these Pop culture/sports figures.

I don't believe in subjecting civilians to public scrutiny even if they welcome it to some extent themselves. Paris Jackson is, and should be, a nobody, and paying attention to her troubles indicates a personality flaw.

BTW, after hearing all these weird celebrity names for their kids, I jokey told my wife we should name the baby: "District of Columbia"

I don't understand the attention to them in the first place. Obviously there's a big market for it, just not me.

Was nature implicated in this case?
Who was her biological father?
Physiognomically the alleged relationship is unconvincing.

I just saw 3 ACC players doing that silly jumping dance. Two were black, one white, so it was sort of like Paris Jackson.

I wish my mother were still alive. She served on the Jackson grand jury, as she lived in Santa Barbara at the time. She never spoke about any specifics, but I got the feeling, after reflection, that she knew that MJ was pure scum. And, sorry not sorry, but I straight up have zero fucks for their twisted offspring. None. All out of fucks.

I do feel sorry for her honestly.

The truth hurts. This is the rage phase. She does have a lot of time on her side to come to some kind of understanding though.

In that she is fortunate.

If she's sensible, should seek out biological father and shed Jackson legacy.

banality (noun) Something obvious; repetitious; lacking in originality.

My advice to her, would be to move to Oklahoma.

Get out of LA. Come to Oklahoma, because no one gives a shit. She can get a job in a small store, and no one will know who she is. She can date real men, because no one here is trying to get on the cover of the Rolling Stone.

After all, she has more money than God, and all she needs is a stable life.

LA is for Honduran migrants... get the hell out.

She’s a model? In her own way, she’s as weird looking as her dad. But poor kid, her dad was forever haunted by a screwed up childhood and it looks like she is too. Her only hope, the only hope for children she has, is to change her name and drop out of the public eye.

Similar. Even while knowing her name is Jackson, my first mental connection was Paris Hilton. When I read “Leaving Neverland,” I thought she must be one of the mothers. The story had to actually say she was Michael Jackson’s daughter before I realized, “oh, right. Michael Jackson, Paris Jackson. Duh!

Josephbleau said...

She was not sired by Michael, but a British sperm donor. Not being a real decendant probably messes her up.

MayBee said...

I hope Paris finds peace in her mind, and strength to continue. She's a beautiful girl who has surely lived a complicated life.
Finding Neverland isn't to blame for her challenges. If TMZ really thought that, they would cease the celebrity gossip business altogether.

JLScott said...

Tim Maguire, that’s the exact progression I went through.

AllenS said...

There is no possible way that Michael Jackson is this girl's father. Let us not forget, Michael Jackson started out in life as a black child, then changed into a white girl. Understanding the lie is what caused this white girl to attempt suicide.

How come no one asks Blanket how he's doing?

RigelDog said...

Of course I feel sorry for her. Her upbringing was so bizarre as to be potentially abusive, and she's cutting her wrists. Sounds like a solid attempt too, since she's only in stable condition. People who only make a "gesture" cut get sent home with bandages immediately. I don't blame Leaving Neverland or the men who have now recounted their abuse by MJ.

What I've always wanted to know is, exactly HOW did MJ "get" these children? Legally, I mean. Was it a matter of the mother filling out the paperwork alleging he was the father and so he had automatic custody rights?

Bill Peschel said...

"It is said that to see who rules you, find out who you may not speak against. I think Madison Ave runs a lot more than we know."

Look at People magazine that way. Look at how they reported (they didn't) on Harvey Weinstein. See how they're reported on Jussie Smollett. While they're probably the most reputable of the gossip mags, that's not saying much. They protect their own.

And, yes, now that I'm out of the loop on pop culture, I'm bored with it. Except for Andy Cohen. I love reading diaries, and I came across his that he wrote over three years. I had no idea who he was, but once I started reading them, I couldn't stop. His life is so alien to mine: a nice gay man who's wealthy and can jet off to Rio with Anderson Cooper with their gay friends at a moment's notice. Friends with Matthew Broderick and SJP.

And now Paris Jackson is reminding me of Andy Cohen, who at age 50 just bought himself a baby boy. People gave him the cover treatment, with fawning quotes from everyone, including SJP. Everything about Andy, but nothing about the mother. Nothing at all, as if she didn't exist and didn't matter.

That makes me sad, that this kid started out in life already a half-orphan intentionally, with no idea where his mother's family came from intentionally. And this is presented by the culture as a wonderful thing.

The thing that sustains her (her fame/famous father/Hollywood) is the same thing that is destroying her. On top of that MJ was her entire universe and he's gone. No wonder she feels there is no escape. How can she forget that MJ is her father or forgive him for all the lies and abuse he's done? I can see all that taking many years to work out, if at all. In the meantime she's resented for being so rich and privileged. I think her situation is tough, but in that way she's like a lot of other people. It's not hopeless. I hope she can find the help she needs.

People talk about privilege and money and racism, etc. all the time but having normal loving parents is the greatest gift and privilege anyone can have and she didn't get anything close to that.
