With the Hopes that our World is built on they were utterly out of touch.

They denied that Wishes were Horses; they denied that a Pig had Wings.
So we worshipped the Gods of the Market Who promised these beautiful things.

When the Cambrian measures were forming, They promised perpetual peace.
They swore, if we gave them our weapons, that the wars of the tribes would
cease.
But when we disarmed They sold us and delivered us bound to our foe,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings said: "Stick to the Devil you know."

On the first Feminian Sandstones we were promised the Fuller Life
(Which started by loving our neighbour and ended by loving his wife)
Till our women had no more children and the men lost reason and faith,
And the Gods of the Copybook Heading said: "The Wages of Sin is Death."

In the Carboniferous Epoch we were promised abundance for all,
By robbing selected Peter to pay for collective Paul; But, though we had
plenty of money, there was nothing our money could buy,
And the Gods of the Copybook Heading said: "If you don't work you die."

Then the Gods of the Market tumbled, and their smooth-tongued wizards
withdrew,
And the hearts of the meanest were humbled and began to believe it was true
That All is not God that Glitters, and Two and Two make Four-
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings limped up to explain it once more.

As it will be in the future, it was at the birth of Man- There are only
four things certain since Social Progress began:-

Our local AM news found our new Dem Representative at a Dem holiday party in Des Moines
The clip the news picked to air was the new Rep worried about federal workers not getting paid. The new Rep, like most leftist only know history from when they get out of bed. In Iowa history, Rep Bruce Braley, was asked by a reporter about all the problems the Nation was facing in the midst of a shutdown. He said times were bad, they didn't have fresh towels at the House of Representatives Gym. Braley went on to lose his bid to lieutenant colonel Joni Earnst, to fill Tommy Bahama Harkins seat. How many people die each year from attempting the border crossing through very hostile terrain?

Assume, for the sake of argument, a wall sufficiently effective to essentially eliminate all those crossings. The consequence, inevitably, would be all those lives saved, going forward.

I'm trying to figure out how that is immoral.

I set out to give you the argument, and realized I can't recall any argument. The Ds have told us that a Wall will make no difference. But they have also indicated that anyone who wants to build such a Wall is motivated by racism and xenophobia. With the clear indication that the Wall will be a very effective tool in the service of said racism and xenophobia. Else why oppose it? Let the racist xenophobes knock themselves out pouring concrete in the desert. I guess the argument is that our current policies lead to the separation of children and their parents at the border, which the Ds assure us is the worst thing that has ever occurred in recorded history, and they are adamantly opposed to anything that might put a stop to it.
