"The fact that the state of Colorado, in 25 years, has gone from being dubbed the 'hate state' to a place that can elect someone who is not just openly gay, but publicly gay, that’s historic."

Said Annise Parker, a gay-rights activist, quoted in "Colorado, once the infamous anti-LGBT ‘hate state,’ becomes first to elect an openly gay governor" (WaPo).

The new governor is Jared Polis:

Colorado can afford ito be socialist. They’ll just raise the prices in Aspen.

Polis is not that openly gay, btw. When he ran and won over and over as a congressman from Boulder, (in a rigged district where he would never lose) - no mention of his even being gay.
His homosexuality isn't an issue - it isn't a plus or a minus - it's a big nothing.
So yes - hooray... CO is not a hate state, and we've arrived at a place where it just doesn't matter.

Polis a closet socialist.

Some Women's Marcher woman was on CBS This Morning saying that women's anger gets them elected. But I don't think that's right. The right person for the job-- woman or man. Marsha Blackburn (R- Great Hair) won not because of the women's march. Claire McCaskill (D- Faked Centrism For Too Long) lost in the supposed Year of the Women.

All the new women are attractive and don't look like the teacher who told you to do your homework or your mother who told you to clean your room. The women who won in my area in Michigan ran a pretty centrist campaign.

Colorado has gone from moderate to hard-left without the usual stopover at Liberalism. Polis represents the hatred urban Coloradans have for their fellow citizens in Rubeland.

Polis is really really wealthy and he's part of a small group of other really really wealthy leftists who created a blueprint to turn CO blue. (Polis, Bridges, Stryker)
They have been successful.
The GOP in CO are almost worthless. They don't care about winning, because they make money with their print-ads.

Colorado is a liberal state. The Mountains are the playground for the wealthy. And the wealthy have become very liberal over the last 25 years. And Denver is one third Mexican. Soon it will be just like California. And soon the Mexicans will turn on their wealthy white masters.

This was in regards to my mentioning the hated and disgust "Goddamned Greenies" receive in Wyoming He said that there were Two Colorados, the good and the bad; so, it goes both ways

The D's won in a sweep here. Also - all the tax hike ballot issues FAILED.

Square that, Polis.

He's already planning on tax-raping us for "free universal everything."
He's going to make us miss Hickenlooper, who was a solid democrat, but not a radical leftist shill. (a closet radical leftist shill - Polis campaigned as a moderate)

A few years ago, ballot issue 69 went down 80%-20%. It was a ballot measure for socialized health care in Colorado. Polis wants to shove that down our throats, even though it was defeated by a large majority. But - he's gay! so it's all cool.

Not so much a racial/ethnic construct as class distribution. In many Latin American countries, there are two classes: The wealthy and the peasants. California is following this model very closely and other blue states will, too and, in time, the entire nation. The middle classes are doomed.

None. So it was unsurprising that he 'came out' gay. If he wanted a sex life, it was men or escorts...and he wasn't rich.

Rep. Jared Polis reads gay bunny book to his children for family story time

Polis, who is running for Colorado governor in the Democratic primary set for June 26, streamed the live reading from his children’s bedroom. The book, written by Jill Twiss, is a parody of Charlotte Pence’s new children’s book, “Marlon Bundo’s Day in the Life of the Vice President.” In Twiss’ version, Vice President Mike Pence’s pet bunny Marlon Bundo falls in love with a boy bunny.

The middle income people have no reason to stay in states like Colorado, California, New York, etc. unless you have a government job. Even then it’s probably better to move elsewhere.

The US is on its way to becoming Brazil anyway. But over the next 25-30 years there are better states and cities to live in. By then the US government will be bankrupt anyway so it won’t realky matter st that point.

"Californians who fucked up Montana" and "Coloradans who are fucking up Wyoming" are not necessarily a different set of people. Some of those "Coloradans" are the self-same Californians who came to Colorado a couple of decades back, with the results we see today.

At any rate, members of the same general locust horde of clueless progressives.

HoodlumDoodlum said...

It can't be that it was never really a "hate state" at all and that the fact that it was dubbed that said more about the people doing the dubbing than the state itself can it?

No, no, that can't be it. This is definitely Progress and just proves that the regressive deplorables all over this great nation can be changed, molded, and otherwise beaten into shape in short order if only we all agree it must be done and nothing can be allowed to stop us.

Forward!

All the leftists who won in CO - Governor, AG, Treasurer - they are all inexperienced figure heads. (Polis has some experience, granted he was a congressman)
They are there to do the bidding of the bigger, wealthier leftwing fish behind the scenes.

The guy who won AG - he's an academic with ZERO experience. It's really astonishing.

It will be interesting to see if they moderate or go full tilt left.

Of course the media will hide the negative side effects, but the common man will have no choice but to live with the elite take over and consider a move to less hostile frontiers.

It's funny that it's flipped from "hate state" to gay leftwinger hates you, and will ruin you for the so called greater good.

Leftists do not care about the little guy. That people think they do, is the biggest scam going.

Colorado has come a long way since 1990, when I had to threaten to sue the ski resorts for their lift-ticket policies that discriminated against unmarried couples and single mothers, along with their children. The resorts used to offer discounted "Family Passes" where a family consisted of a "married couple and their children." Now that's all changed for the better and you no longer have to show proof of sex, marital status or family status.

Transgender/homosexual is politically congruent. American of Asian descent/heritage is politically incongruent. Progress.

Roughcoat said...

Meade asked: "Front range"?

No. The front range is the line of mountains immediately bordering the eastern plateau.

Not "front slope" either. It should be "west slope" and "east slope." Or, west of "Divide" or east of the Divide.

When I arrived in Colorado in 1970 it was primarily a cowboy/farmer state, and mostly Republican. But that changed, approximately starting with the influx of Haight-Ashury refugees in the early 70s.

I lived in Colorado for 18 years. I still go back on now and again for vacation, but only to the West Slope, usually to the Durango/Wolf Creek Pass area, sometimes to Meeker.

Roughcoat said...

Clarification re Colorado terminology: should be "west of the divide" and "east of the divide".

The east slope is understood to be the high desert watershed/plateau extending from the front range east all the way to Kansas and Nebraska. The west slope is everything west of the front range to Utah. We're talking watersheds here. All rain that falls and water that flows east of the Divide theoretically ends up in the Atlantic. All rain and flowing west of the Divide ends up in the Pacific. Hence the term: "Continental Divide." The front range is a mountain range, nothing more.
