"These women who act like staying at home, leeching off their husbands or boyfriends, and just cashing the checks is some sort of feminism..."

"... because they’re choosing to live that life. That’s bullshit. I mean, what the f*** are we really talking about here?"

Said Kyrsten Sinema back in 2006. She's now the Democratic Party's nominee to represent Arizona in the U.S. Senate.

I haven't been following the Sinema drama, so anything about her is news to me. But I was motivated to read her Wikipedia page because I wanted to know if she had children. If you stay home with children, you probably don't see yourself as "leeching." Some facts:
Sinema married, and later divorced, her BYU classmate Blake Dain.

On November 17, 2013, Sinema completed an Ironman Triathlon in a little more than 15 hours. Sinema was the second active member of Congress—behind Senator Jeff Merkley—to finish a long distance triathlon, and the first to complete an Ironman-branded race. On December 25, 2013, Sinema summited Mount Kilimanjaro.
So, her idea of doing difficult things is way beyond the average person's. But if you're running for office, it's not a good idea to reveal to ordinary people that you basically think they're not working hard enough. The normal bullshit is to butter them up continually, calling them "hard-working" and blaming government and corporations for their insufficiently affluent condition. But Sinema wants to call bullshit on that bullshit. Okay, Sinema. It won't get you into the Senate, I don't think, but it's kind of wonderful, shouted from the top of Mount Kilamanjaro.
Sinema is now the only openly non-theist or atheist member of Congress, although she herself has rejected such labels. She is also the first openly bisexual member of Congress.
Okay with me.

I can’t agree with Sinema that staying home and raising children isn’t work, it is. I give women who both work outside the home and are married with children a great deal of credit, it’s damn hard. And single women with children working to survive I give them tremendous credit.

Sinema is running on the “we Democrats are slumming by being here with you, be grateful” ticket. That gets out the base!

A little more reliable poll.

More on crazy Sinema and polls.

So, for instance, the polls have generally shown Arizona’s Senate race between fighter pilot Martha McSally and bizarre leftist Kyrsten Simena to be close, with Simena often in the lead. This is ridiculous. Simena is not just a nut, she is an anti-Arizona nut. At least four or five videos have been released in which she describes her own state as the “meth lab of democracy” and says that Arizonans are “crazy.” Repeatedly. Over and over. And Simena has a long history as a far leftist. She denounced American soldiers and protested the Iraq war in a pink tutu. If she were running for President of Code Pink, she would be a strong candidate. As a candidate for the United States Senate, she is hopeless.

There is an amusing collection of her crazy statements about Bush.

So, feminism is about taxable commodities (i.e. wages), progressive GDP (i.e. money), burdenless existence (i.e. selective-child, and friendship with "benefits" (e.g. casting couch or just couch relationships). Seems kind like a barren existence, but it's good for the corporations, deep state, politicians, social justice, and 1%ers.

Income based subsidies. There are women who choose to not abort their children (isn’t that a good thing?) and must work to survive ( isn’t that a good thing too?). During the 20 years before the War on Poverty was funded, the portion of the nation living in poverty had dropped to 14.7% from 32.1%. Since 1966, the first year with a significant increase in antipoverty spending, the poverty rate reported by the Census Bureau has been virtually unchanged…Transfers targeted to low-income families increased in real dollars from an average of $3,070 per person in 1965 to $34,093 in 2016…Transfers now constitute 84.2% of the disposable income of the poorest quintile of American households and 57.8% of the disposable income of lower-middle-income households. These payments also make up 27.5% of America’s total disposable income.

Each position has its own difficulties and rewards. Whether being a working mom or a stay at home mom is harder than the other is a personal and uniquely individual perspective.

It also isn't just the 'work' you do, the perception of difficult depends on how well you handle various emotional and psychological hurdles that each presents. As well as the support system you may have at work or at home.

Progressive dems are motivated but liberals are not. Democrat turnout is going to be even more compressed into the urban centers than it was in 2016.

Even more problematic for the democrat party is black people think the white progressives are nuts.

Truly, the female is the gatekeeper to posterity. Even child support will not provide financial security necessary to get a higher education but with hard work it can be done. Bah. Debt is easy to deal with.

Some growth and inflation and it is easily manageable.

The Fed needs to be reigned in. It currently serves everyone but US citizens.

Currently every time wages go up the Fed freaks out and hammers the economy.

If banks are inflating asset prices through stock market/housing bubbles the Fed does nothing.

But as soon as wages start going up? They drive the economy into recession.

It is not that the problem is insurmountable. It is that the people in charge do not get rich if the problems are fixed.

You don't cut entitlement spending by cutting the size of the numbers on the checks being written to people. That is obvious political suicide which is why they demand republicans do it.

Cookie occasionally has a good idea. I agree with this one but would choose different targets (of course).

The Navy has gone disastrous wrong with such boondoggles as the LCS and the Zumwalt class "destroyer" that is the size of a heavy cruiser and cannot get out of its own way. The huge nuclear carriers are billion dollar targets. The nuclear subs are too expensive and we should build, or buy, a fleet of the quiet diesel subs Taiwan has. The "jeep carrier" concept of WWII should be revived.

The EPA should be shut down. HUD should, probably be shit down. (That was a typo I decided to leave in)

Move a few agencies out to the center of the country. That should weed out some bureaucrats.

The department of Agriculture needs to be 10% of its size. All energy subsidies need to end including ethanol.

I think the few remaining elder statesmen in the Democrat party are starting to worry about this election.

America is polarized in many ways, but one of the most significant is between generations in the Democratic Party. Coming out of the Great Depression and World War II, we present-day seniors saw liberalism as the promise of racial and social justice and broadly shared prosperity. We also saw it as a defender of civil liberties against abuses such as those that took place in the 1950s McCarthy era. Abroad, we supported a strong United Nations and other multilateral institutions to reduce conflict but had no illusions about the expansionist ambitions of totalitarian states.

In other words, the dwindling number of Greatest Generation and Depression-born Democrats came of age with a liberal tradition that is increasingly marginalized in today's party. That was evident in Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation fight and in the party’s use of race, sex, ethnicity and other identity markers in politics more broadly.

I think they see it coming and are worried.

Robert Cook said...

A wedding ceremony and the wearing of wedding rings tells others what you do in the bedroom (broadly speaking) as much as does one's announcement of one's sexual orientation. If are can accept such public declarations one's sexual orientation from heterosexuals, why can we not accept them from homosexuals or bisexuals?

Put another way, why should gays and bisexuals have to hide who they are or pretend to a default heterosexuality simply to avoid making others uncomfortable? Rather, those who are uncomfortable with the sexuality of others should just grow up.

Heck, we could probably cut trillions just from the various "black budgets" of some of these agencies without even touching their actual, published budgets, (not that those shouldn't still be slashed).

The CIA should definitely be eliminated. We aren't even allowed to see their budget and they are well known for pocket-lining shenanigans on the taxpayers' dime. Every branch of the military has its own intelligence ops so the CIA is more than redundant. It's also dangerous.

The fool does not know much about the pill. I could send her to the chapter in my medical history book but there are big words.

As for the fake child support issue, if you have trouble reading there is always TV.

“I never even slept with her,” said Anthony Sims of the mother of the child he is paying for. "I had a lawsuit when I was young. She said that is the money I am going to get and she got it.”

Reginald Whitlow, Anthony Sims, and Carnell Alexander have similar stories. They say women named them out of nowhere.

In 2014 WXYZ told Carnell Alexander’s story and found the mother. She said she was told in order to get welfare benefits she needed to name a father. She knew he wasn’t the dad, but wrote down his name.

Then these men missed paternity hearings because they were sick or did not receive notice. Carnell had proof. He was in prison when a process server claimed he was served at a house in Highland Park.

When they didn’t show up at court a judge ruled them dads by default. They then missed their chance to challenge it with DNA evidence by the court deadline because they couldn’t find the women and children.

“The wouldn’t give me her address because it was confidential,” said Whitlow.

These men all eventually got DNA tests backing their stories. It was too late.

“Often times it doesn’t make a difference,” said Rep. Jim Runestad (R-White Lake) of DNA test results.

Did the invention of agriculture end the ice age ?

Nope. For two reasons.

One the ice age isn't over. We are currently in an ice age called the Quarternary, that began 2.5 million years ago. There have been several interglacial periods in the Quarternary. We are merely in the most recent interglacial period called the Holocene. The Holocene is a period of global warming that began 12,000 years ago. There is a significant chance the Holocene is coming to an end and the Earth is about to get much colder.

Secondly, agriculture began after the Earth began to warm. The Holocene began, then agriculture arose. This lead to specialization, which led to cities, which led to civilization, which led to history.

Interestingly, I read an article last week about why conservative women, and esp the younger ones, are so ugh otter tha their progressive counterparts. And the author suggested that part of it was that they were much stronger and more self confident. Does anyone really believe that all those overweight harridans having screaming meltdowns are really that self confident and happy with themselves? I have heard the suggestion that the difference is that the conservative women are hot enough to get the alpha males, who can afford to have them at home raising their kids, while the liberal harridans tend to be fat ad ugly enough that many of them go lesbian to get some sex.

Maybe I am a bit biased, but I ended up with an extremely strong woman who was also one of the most beautiful women in one of the most glamorous cities (Las Vegas) of her generation, who saved herself for marriage, gave up modeling and dancing for having and raising kids, was widowed, raised 2 of her own kids, and 4 others, and now has 10 grandkids. Probably the strongest woman I have ever met. She would (and does) say that there are two types of women in this country: winners who control their own lives; and losers who don’t. The first are mostly conservative, while the latter are mostly progressive, demanding that the government take care of them, because they can’t take care of themselves.

And this election contest is true to form. McSally used to strap on an A-10 Warthog and do close air support. That is what they do. In Desert Storm, the A-10s would sometimes come in with half their wings shot off, only to get repaired and go out again the next day. Not for the faint of heart. And while she was doing that, Sinema was dressing in a pink tutu, and insulting those risking their lives to protect ours safely back in the states. Which has shown herself to be the stronger woman?

Funny part was that he ran ads about his opponent’s dark money ads, when he had several times as many dark money ads running in his favor. Usual Dem projection, of course. Is daily training for a triathlon something to be proud of? You have every right to do that, but it's not real valuable to anyone, even yourself, beyond nursing your narcissism. I have much more respect for the woman who does housework everyday, or the guy who digs ditches, or collects garbage. At the end of the day, they actually have done something. Mindless exercise with made up goals, is fine and I enjoy it myself, but it's not something to brag about, and certainly not reason to put yourself above others. You are just swimming in your addiction like everyone else. Enjoy, but keep it in perspective with the rest of us.

Here in Nevada, some Dem candidates are claiming in their ads that they will work with Trump. I know that's likely a lie, but it is a great message to get more votes. Dems are not going to switch sides over it, but you can pull in some people in the middle. They see the success, and even if they lean left, don't want to throw that away.

Doing triathlon is like buying an expensive car. You often make the sacrifice expecting people will respect or admire you, but most people just secretly hate you for it. That's why my only vehicle is a 10 year old pick up truck. I already have plenty of reasons for people to secretly hate me.

And it seems like yur occasional attempts at dot connecting miss the mark. Do you know that yur the only one in these threads who doesn't understand that I'm not Shilo?

Since you choose to conceal your identity and since so many lefties switch identities fairly frequently. Inga went to unknown then back to Inga. Ritmo keeps changing. Anyway, you sounded a bit like shiloh and others had concluded that was your previous ID. Personally, I thought you sounded more like PB&J but it doesn't matter.

Thanks for the tip on a Orgeron video.

As far as connecting dots, the left seems to prefer Jackson Pollack.

Now, I am going back to my bio of Edward Grey,

I have no trouble connecting these dots.

In Brooklyn, there is an occult bookshop called Catland Books. “Catland” is, one imagines, an apt description of the homes of the women who congregate there.

The operators of the establishment have announced that they are planning to hold a special hex session this weekend to make Supreme Court justice Brett Kavanaugh “suffer.” It is sure to be a popular event.

Because progressives belong to the Party of Science, they may wish to visit some of their like-minded fellow partisans at Catland Books, where they can also take a few courses: Demonology 101, Plant Magik [sic] 101, or Potions & Tinctures 101, which all are on the current schedule. Everything seems to be 101 — that’s a lot of introductory classes, a lot of foreplay for a master’s course in horsesh**.

The left is crazy and IQ is not part of it.

"Choice" feminism is bad.
"Choice" abortion is good.
