I could not bring myself to watch it.

It's not as if the Rockies are making a real battle of this.

I did not expect the bats to remain silent at Coors Field.

Brewer Privilege. It seems so selfish to just win them all.

First Kavanaugh, then the Brewers. It's all of a piece.

I'm so happy that Mike Moustakas and Lo Cain found a home with another winner. Can't believe that Soria finally learned how to pitch again.

Oct 7th and they still haven't played the ACLS or NCLS?

When does the World Series end? November?

Here's hoping they enjoy playing in the snow whenever the World Series starts.

I couldn’t watch it. Apparently it was only on the MLB channel?

You always want to be The Hot Team in October. That would be the Brewers.

After doing what they did to my Cubs, they must now win it all. I have commanded it.

The way MLB treats fans who want to watch baseball, you'd think they don't care about normal fans. And you'd be right.

I am old enough to remember when they played broadcasts of the World Series over the PA system in my school. Meaning of course that they were day games, as God intended.

Good for Milwaukee! Get ready for the Dodgers.

Looks like the only series that will go more than three games is Boston/NY, although the Dodgers/Braves game is just starting.

What he means is that its chess instead of checkers and it bores him.

Congratulations.

The Brewers are fun. Yellich is awesome. He's having the kind of year Ryne Sandberg had in his prime.

They've got a good shot at winning the World Series. Whatever team comes out of the AL is going to be fantastic too.

Tim recalls: I am old enough to remember when they played broadcasts of the World Series over the PA system in my school. Meaning of course that they were day games, as God intended.

They didn't do that at my school but we listened on our transistor radios [remember those?] during recess. I remember it was usually the Yankees vs. Dodgers games. Only the creepy kids rooted for the Yankees.

Whoah! Atlanta is kicking some ass in the second inning!

The Brew Crew!

Acuna hits grand slam with 2 outs in bottom of 2nd, Braves leas Dodgers 5-0, but are down 2 games to 0.

Exactly! Like all of my many brothers!

1982 World Series, Game 2, was on Wednesday night during CCD, and Sister Rose Francis brought in the TV-on-wheels so we could watch the game. Unfortunately, God wasn't paying attention and let the Cardinals beat the Brewers.

The Dodgers and Angels, are still in it.

Surely you didn't mean the Angels, gahrie. They finished second to last in their division.

Congrats, Brew Crew fans! Hooted right with y'all.

I will do same in NLCS.

Return the favor, ok? Hoot for my Red Sox.

That would be a great WS!

Congrats to the Brew Crew.

In Milwaukee, Green Bay, Sheboygan, Janesville and Madison, Brewers fans are happy.

Trivia question: what hockey team is the favorite team (NHL) in Milwaukee, and what is the other hockey team (NHL) that is the favorite team in Green Bay, Sheboygan, Janesville and Madison? (this may be a trick question - and maybe it isn't)

This may seem like a trivial question but among Brewer fandom the question of which NHL team a true Brewer fan ought to root for has been much discussed

(for the record, the last time I watched a Brewer game live was in the early 70s, at the old stadium...Mickey Lolich was on the team, in the days before he opened his donut shop, and Dave May played a very casual left field .... you had to live in just the right place to hear Bob Eucker .... I didn't live in that place, I had to listen to the radio broadcasts from other cities ... the one day I was at Milwaukee County Stadium I was jeered at by some thug kids in their sad little thug kid pack who thought it was ok to jeer at another little kid for taking a picture of the outfield.... poor little thugs, the cocaine 80s and the fentanyl decade we are living through were hard on them and on those they love .... I wish I could go back in time, look them in the eyes, and say ... poor little thug kids, you should not be spending your time ganging up on me: you should be trying to get yourself full of care for those you care about - and God will forgive you, little thugs, and the guy you are mocking will one day pray for you, and you will be thankful for that ... as God is my witness, I still remember their little thug haircuts and their scared little thug gang attempts at seeming tough .... If life has been kind to them, which it probably hasn't - but if it has, I have no doubt that now, 50 years later, the little thug kids appreciate how lucky they have been....)

so when somebody with a pseudonym on the internet tells me they think I am Clueless, I am not really offended .....

that was a long time ago. The stadium has been demolished. Cocaine, fentanyl, alcohol, and the basic fact that most thug kids grow up to be unloved thug adults - that is all on one side of the scale.

On the other side of the scale - I pray for everybody I have ever met. Sure I have met some evil bastards, those little thug kids were just mildly bad on the scale.

And if you stick around long enough in this world you will get impressed by two facts - God is not mocked, and our prayers are important.

Its ending up like some sort of magic season with all the right ingredients, it seems. When you score a run on a balk in an nlds game to clinch and win 11 in a row something special is going on. I will need all four days to prepare for the next one at MP.

Known Unknown said...

Once my Cleveland Indians are knocked out (hopefully not tomorrow, but the way they've played ... ) I will root for the Brewers to win it all.

Way to go Braves..hope it goes to 5 no matter what...

LOL, a friend of mine who is a Cubs fan called after the game and asked me (rather sourly)when the horseshoes were going to fall out of the Brewers' asses.

Hopefully, right after the Crew wins the last game of the year!

Yes, I'm actually grateful for the days off. Brewers fans are used to tension-free Octobers.

Rocean, are you having a heart attack? In need of some Advanced Cardio Life Support before the AL and NL Championship Series?

This means I have at least four more times I can listen to Uecker call the games. Save a seat on the Crew’s bandwagon for this New England based Twins’ fan.
Tough call yesterday, though, between Ueck on the radio and Jim Kaat on TV...

I used to be a huge baseball fan. As a kid my brother and I would read the batting stats of major leaguers in the Sunday paper then quiz each other. He was a big Orioles fan, me an A’s fan; odd since we grew up in upstate New York. But I felt my enthusiasm wane in the 2000’s and disappear by 2010.

As a kid you knew certain teams by certain players who where there for years (i.e. Yaz with Boston, Stottlemayer with the Yankees) but by the late 2000’s I couldn’t keep track of who was playing where.

Furthermore, Fox’s style of playoff coverage, all wizbang graphic (with sound effects) and repeated close ups of players and fans watching anxiously completely turned me off.

So I watch football, even when the Broncos suck.

I am mostly a fair weather fan, but boy oh boy is the weather nice today. Go Brewers!

This is a great story thus far. I am enjoying it. I don't know where you guys are finding all these sour Cub fans. My nextdoor neighbor and I both said we want the Brewers to win when we were talking about it just a bit ago. Call it a horseshoe stuck somewhere, call it whatever, but the team is on fire at the right time. That's usually what's needed to win it all. Nothing wrong with that.

Jim at said...

Apparently it was only on the MLB channel?

Yes. With the insufferable Bob Costas doing the call.
