"As a veteran defender of pornography and staunch admirer of strip clubs, I have to say that an overwhelming number of today's female-authored Instagrams seem stilted, forced and strangely unsexy."

"Visual illiteracy is spreading: It is sadly obvious that few young people have seen classic romantic films or studied the spectacular corpus of Hollywood publicity stills, with their gorgeous sensual allure.... [T]he bright and shiny surface of too many of today's female-generated Instagrams conceals a bleak and regressive reality, with men in the driver's seat for careless, hit-and-run hookups.... [M]any of today's young professionals sporting stiletto heels, miniskirts and plunging bodices might not realize that to wear that fabulous drag, you need a killer mind and manner to go with it... Given our rising concern about sexual harassment, it's time for a major rethink and recalibration of women's self-presentation on social media as well as in the workplace. The line between the public and private realms must be redrawn. Be yourself on your own time. The workplace should be a gender-neutral zone. It is neither a playground for male predators nor a fashion runway for women.... The current surplus of exposed flesh in the public realm has led to a devaluation of women and, paradoxically, to sexual ennui.... That there is growing discontent with overexposure in Western women's dress is suggested by the elegant flowing drapery of Muslim-influenced designs by Dolce & Gabbana and Oscar de la Renta, among others, in recent years....."

Could you tell that's Camille Paglia?

Women are supposed to cover up now because men might be moved to sexually harass them and because they don't have the "killer mind and manner" you need to be sexually attractive in the workplace?! She's rhapsodizing about "Muslim-influenced" "flowing drapery"?!!

I was saddened to learn that there's a whole new field pornography that I had not seen and had never even heard of. I was somewhat relieved to hear that it's not good pornography, but I'm not so sure I want to take Camille Paglia's word for it. Can someone here confirm that Instagram porn is second rate.

How come this stuff only relates to women?

Because men dress professionally for work.

I don't know who women dress for, but, at parties and off work social events, I certainly noticed what they were wearing. Some girls can make a,quantum leap in a little black dress........To paraphrase Al Capone, you can get more with a pleasant smile and red lipstick than you can with just a pleasant smile.

décolletage... I am at a loss. Should there be more of it, or less...I mean, do you see more, or less, when there is more or less décolletage? I'm all for more décolletage, unless that means there is less to see...then I want less décolletage. So you can understand my confusion.

Unless they are working as the talent at a strip club, women should dress for the occasion at work. Professionally. We men can imagine you naked without the low-cut cleavage or the tight yoga pants.

You can just imagine older white women - and soccer moms - crying with joy as they go to the Polls.

And then 96% if the black vote.”

Has anyone checked how well-scrubbed the Internet is of things Kamela Harris? Professionally-assisted scrubbing is a brand new weapon in modern trenchant warfare.

Rcocean remarks: Women dress for women, because we men don't care.

Sometimes women will wear something that looks really great, sometimes really bad, but 80% of the time I can't tell the difference.

I've never met a man who said "Sure, she was 200 lbs, but that dress...wowza!"

I think this is true. The only men I've known who really noticed a woman's clothing were gay. And they usually had something nasty to say about it, just as women often do.

But gilbar is right. Well-applied makeup and well-constructed [I prefer 'constructed' over 'engineered'] clothing make the woman look good, not the makeup or clothing.

Camille, and her way of thinking is the cause of the problem! The following is a partial answer to the article brought to my attention by our 39 year old daughter. This is a paragraph from my rather lengthy answer, it can be found on my Facebook page Ron Greene Cartersville GA. My daughter agrees with me.

"It's the same mindset used when the Liberals, being all righteous worried, concerned and demanding "government studies" regarding teen pregnancy, while simultaneously producing tv shows in which the moms tell the daughters, "When that SPECIAL person comes into your life,.blah, blah, make sure he has a condom and you're on the pill." This was the mother and daughter conversation that took place between the tv mother Erin Reagan and her tv daughter Nicky Reagan on the TV show Blue Bloods. Kay and I watched that episode and rolled our eyes. That line of script writing and thinking sends mixed messages to the youth of today."

Well, sorry, Achilles, but when you've lost Igna ....

Unknowingly, the author this piece admits she and her worldview is part of the problem. To quote from her article: "As a veteran defender of pornography and staunch admirer of strip clubs, I have to say that an overwhelming number of today's female-authored Instagrams seem stilted, forced and strangely unsexy. Visual illiteracy is spreading: It is sadly obvious that few young people have seen classic romantic films or studied the spectacular corpus of Hollywood publicity stills, with their gorgeous sensual allure."

The tv dad, played by Tim Allen, took his teenage son aside and instructed him on the proper use of a condom in an episode of Home Improvement. He used a banana! In neither show were the scenes needed to advance the plot. In the Home Improvement episode, it was an easy laugh, for folks who don't know real humor.
in an episode of The Big Bang Theory, "Howard" expresses his love for "Bernadette," having known her "for only" for 30 days. Her response was, "How can (that be or you be certain) we've never slept together?"
For those of you who have never heard the testimony of how Kay and I met, I encourage you to do a YouTube search for How Ron Met Kay Ron Greene Comedian. HINT: I asked her to marry me in less than 30 days! If Ruby Kay Fields had asked me that stupid "Bernadette" question, I would've looked at her and thought to myself, "Hmm, now it's back to deciding between, Susie, Elaine, Brenda #1, Vicki, Brenda #2, blah, bah,.....I'll just remain single!"
Shh, DON'T TELL Kay about the last four!😂
How did Kay and I raise Rachel and Jonathan, relative to their sexual awareness, our standards and the prevailing culture? I'll put that in the form of a video at some point in the future. It worked for us and it can work for anyone.
All of this foolishness is a prime example of the Left's and Hollywood's inability to come to terms with or accept the fact there are repercussions through living an immoral life! Yes, I'm also talking about homosexuality's acceptance together with being concerned, crying Crocodile tears, having funding appeals for "AIDS Awareness," etc.
Also, it can be assumed Camille Paglia didn't attended past the 3rd or 4th grade in school. BUT Ron, why do you mention that? Duh, as any 4th grader will tell you, NEVER begin a sentence with BUT!
I remember that from 4th grade English grammar even though I was in love with my "someone special" of the week!
This CRAZY world.

Kirk Parker and MockTurtle and rocean on the question of whether women dress for women: In my experience, many (most?) women do dress for other women, but it's (1) other women in their particular circle, and (2) it's to be perceived as dressing "attractively" which does not mean that it perceived as being dress or style that attracts sexual attention from the other women or from (any) men, and (3) therefore (as a result of 1 and 2) it does not mean that women dressing for other women will wear push-up bras, or other obvious ways to attract sexual attention from men. (SO I think I agree with mock turtle on this, if I understand that comment). No doubt there are differences between single women who are mainly interested in finding a permanent male partner, and married (and other) women who have partners and/or are not actively looking. THe first group wants to dress in a way that makes men wonder "what would that person look like naked?". The second group wants to dress in a way that makes women of their social group to think "here's a person who has the same aesthetics (about female beauty) that I have, so I want to be her friend."

My husband worked for a company for twenty-four years. At one point he was on travel at a meeting and he texted me something along the lines of, “We’re at a meeting of executives, my boss (the president of the company) walked in wearing flip flops, and now his bare feet are on the chair next to me”. My husband was very irritated with him and lost some respect for him.

Professional attire for both sexes is changing and not for the better. But I’m sure my grandparents felt the same way.

I love Camille's writings. Few get to the point as clearly, with as well-reasoned and as well-informed arguments.
