Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) is reportedly considering using votes on President Trump’s appellate court nominees as a bargaining chip for demands on two separate issues.

CNN reported that Flake may block votes on the court nominations while he attempts to secure action on tariffs and travel restrictions to Cuba.

“We’re discussing it,” he told the network.

Flake is a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, where Republicans hold a one-seat advantage over Democrats.

If Flake does not support the appellate nominees, it could compromise their nominations. Most judges are voted out of the committee along party lines.

However, Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) told CNN that he will not schedule votes on the judges until Flake has indicated he’ll support the nominees.

Grassley added that the Senate nominations calendar is full, and he does not feel pressured to vote on judges at this time.

3. On substance, The Heritage Foundation (conservative think tank) says that Trump has enacted conservative policies on par with Reagan
4. The economy is growing, unemployment is low.

Could be that Flake and Grassley just don't want to work in August. Grassley is 84 and in his last term. Flake will be gone in Jan 2009.

If Senate R's want to block Judiciary appointments, let them. Just give up any pretense of running the Senate or following the Constitution. by 'same amount' you mean (i assume) total hours

The north pole might get the same total hours of sunlight (half of the year) as Quito; but it's getting nowhere near as much sunlight (in watts, say). The further north you go, the more slanty the sun gets. The further south you get, the higher in the sky the sun gets. Sun is MUCH warmer to an observer at noon, than at sunset.

Ah, cut 'em some slack. This is just the standby "filler" they tend to put out when they're a bit confused by events and waiting for today's talking points to be packaged and shipped. The "cult" thing must have recycled again to the top of the "standby emergency pack" to be used during such lulls; many spottings in the wild the last 48 hours or so.

This is just the standby "filler" they tend to put out when they're a bit confused by events and waiting for today's talking points to be packaged and shipped. The "cult" thing must have recycled again to the top of the "standby emergency pack" to be used during such lulls; many spottings in the wild the last 48 hours or so.
