"The adult actress Tasha Reign alleges that she was groped and harassed on a porn film [Stormy] Daniels directed in November 2017, and that Daniels ultimately sided with her alleged abuser."

The Daily Beast reports.
“I was sexually assaulted by one of her crewmembers. He groped and grabbed me from behind,” [Reign] says, wiping away tears. “I spoke up immediately because I was in the moment, and I was so proud of myself. She was the director that day, I went straight to her and straight to the man that did it, we had a conversation about it, I went to the owner of Wicked Pictures, I did all the right things. And she did not handle the situation appropriately, respectfully or professionally. So it’s a little bit outrageous when I hear her say things about how she is standing up for women and wants to be a voice for other women to be able to come forward when I was assaulted on her set and she didn’t give me any care or attention, and didn’t even send that man home.”...

Reign was the lead in the film, starring alongside the adult actor Michael Vegas. She even had some meaty dialogue. On November 14, the first day of the shoot, she says everything went relatively smoothly—save an uncomfortable conversation about accused sexual abuser Harvey Weinstein. Reign says that Daniels was “basically making fun of the Me Too movement, in so many words,” joking to the crew, “Oh, I could be seen as Harvey Weinstein because I’m flirtatious with my crewmembers and I can be inappropriate.” It made Reign uncomfortable, but she let it go. (Daniels has made statements critical of #MeToo on Twitter.)...

And bringing it back to the Stormy thread, two things I learned:

From the No Agenda boys, I learned that Stormy's lawyer, Avenatti, was one of the lawyers who sued the producer and Donal Trump claiming that they had stolen the idea for The Apprentice from them.

he joined Greene Broillet & Wheeler, a Los Angeles boutique litigation firm. While there, Michael spearheaded many high-profile cases, including a $10 million defamation case against Paris Hilton; a successful idea theft lawsuit involving the reality show The Apprentice and its producer, Mark Burnett, as well as Donald Trump;

http://avenatti.com/bio/

Actually, they settled.

And this:

As attorney Robert Barnes has discovered Michael Avenatti has a very disturbing and possibly criminal past.

Avenatti is deeply in debt — Not just with his failed coffee company but with his law firm which failed to even file his law firm’s income tax returns for 2014, 2015, and 2016.

On Thursday May 10th Michael Avenatti released a statement saying all fees and and expenses of his case with porn star Stormy Daniels “have either been funded by our client, Ms. Stephanie Clifford, or by donations from our crowdjustice.com page.
...
As attorney Robert Barnes reported earlier today in January 2018 Michael Avenatti got an unidentified source of income that allowed him to pay:

** $4.85 Million to his law firm employees he defrauded
** Close to $2 Million in back taxes for payroll taxes on his law firm
** Nearly another $1 million to other creditors

This occured at the same time he picked up a new client — Stormy Daniels.

In January 2018, #Avenatti got an unidentified source of income that allowed him to pay $4.85M to his law firm employees he defrauded, close to $2M in back taxes for payroll taxes on his law firm, and near another $1M to other creditors. Same time as: new client #StormyDaniels. https://t.co/svr125THxe

So Trump had a mole in the Stormy camp?

Next, we'll hear that, rather than the FBI having a mole in the Trump camp, Trump had a mole in the FBI camp. Maybe Comey was Trump's man all along. That would explain a lot of the crazy dialed up to 11--the way Comey et al. discredited the FBI, made Trump look good by comparison, sucked O's people into embarrassing themselves, and kept the MSM attention off the things that mattered to give Trump a free hand in doing what had to be done. Anyway . . .

Some of them made lemonade, but most porn stars grew up in lemon orchards. If Stormy Daniels doesn't have a few scandals in her past, she's unique in the porn industry. She's gotten a good press up to now, but this is proof not of her sterling character but of the bias in the media. She's not ordinarily the kind of person that SNL or Samantha Bee would treat with the kind of courtesy and respect they extend to true reformers like Eric Schneiderman, but she has been given that respect.......Maybe Tasha Reign can become the Roseanne of the porn industry and attract a conservative following. i hate to see the porn industry becoming politicized, but, really, isn't it about time that conservative Americans had their own porn star to rally behind.

Not that Althouse readers would know or understand, but the interesting thing with the scandal is how it might run afoul of banking, tax, wire fraud and campaign finance laws. So yeah, that is very, very interesting. Also, the way that it may expose Michael Cohen and then Donald Trump to additional criminal investigation. But in truth, all of that is so obvious, no one should need my to write it.

The least interesting things -- which you might be alluding to -- are all about Donald Trump's personal morality (there appears to be none), Donald Trump's routine NDA's with anyone who gets close to the mess that is his personal life, and the mere notion of Donald Trump's, flabby, flaccid body engaged in sex with anyone or anything.

Stormy Daniels means nothing to me; I don't need to admire her, or like her, or accept her credibility. The fact that Althouse would bother with this story indicates that she thinks that insofar as this mini-story is something that effectively takes a shot at Stormy Daniels (as -- I don't know -- a person who is in fact insensitive to sexual misconduct), it is worth re-broadcasting via her blog. And that to Althouse, the real emotional pull of the story is a kind of Stormy-versus-Donald personal battle for moral supremacy. I won't hold my breath on that one. Again; I don't care one bit about Stormy Daniels. What I want is a cold-blooded, dull, unemotional federal indictment that doesn't mention Stormy Daniels, but which drives a legal "wooden stake" through the vampire heart of Donald Trump.

Not that a moron from Michigan would know or understand, but the interesting thing about this non-scandal is that it has nothing to do with Trump's campaign or the Russia-Russia-Russia bullshit story. I mean if Trump was signing NDAs all over the place, boning porn actresses and Playboy bunnies then what's ONE more that happened near the campaign. Even the other Bunny, Bunny Melon, who secretly financed John Edwards side-squeeze baby-momma, din't run afoul of "Campaign Finance Law" in the end. That episode did not end with Edwards or Bunny in jail even though they explicitly hid the payments to keep from harming Edward's presidential campaign.

Now perhaps our local LLR is just so fond of the silky pony Edwards that he forgot about this breach of "banking, tax, wire fraud and campaign finance laws" was easily brushed aside. Why the strange monomaniacal focus on harming Trump and the country?

If Stormy Daniels has ten attorneys, all getting paid $8 million each by Putin, George Soros, Tom Steyer, Kim Jong Un, MSNBC, Jane Fonda, Jeff Bezos, the New York Times and Al Franken; it doesn't matter in a federal indictment. If it is a good indictment, Stormy Daniels' lawyer doesn't matter and it won't be any sort of valid criminal defense for Cohen or Trump. If it is a bad indictment, Cohen and Trump have vast resources to defend it and beat the rap.

Stormy Daniels' personal foibles do not matter.

I am not predicting anything. I don't know what is going to happen. I am just happily watching the investigation unfold.

Well, I suppose that I am predicting just one thing. That if Michael Cohen gets indicted, and if that indictment drags Donald Trump into a federal criminal proceeding, I will be back here to spike that football.

Why would it drag Donald Trump into a federal criminal proceeding? If Donald Trump was the target, why did Mueller pass it off to the SDNY? Or was that just a ruse so Mueller wouldn't get fired?

If it happens after the November mid-terms, nobody gives a fuck.

Also, since we can reasonably infer that Cohen has nothing whatsoever to do with the Russian-collusion charge to Mueller (or else Mueller would not have referred it to the USDC, Southern Dist NY), that means Attorney General Sessions remains in charge

Do you really think AG Sessions will sign off on a trumped-up (no pun intended) indictment against Trump's attorney within the next 4 months?

I doubt it.

I don't know! Avenatti predicted 90 days, I think.

If it happens after the November mid-terms, nobody gives a fuck.
I think I do! Remember, I am not rooting for Republicans to lose their congressional majorities. But if they do, it's going to be ugly for Trump.

Also, since we can reasonably infer that Cohen has nothing whatsoever to do with the Russian-collusion charge to Mueller (or else Mueller would not have referred it to the USDC, Southern Dist NY), that means Attorney General Sessions remains in charge
Yes; a fair point. But I am not hanging any immediate hopes for something bad to happen to Trump arising out of any Russian collusion. I just don't know. I have said that all along; that I don't know, and that I am just watching, and that I haven't seen much of anything to make me think that "Russian collusion" is going to produce an indictable offense on the part of President Trump.

Do you really think AG Sessions will sign off on a trumped-up (no pun intended) indictment against Trump's attorney within the next 4 months?
With Mueller having referred the Cohen matter to the SDNY, I don't think that Sessions has to sign off on much of anything as he did, perhaps, with the Cohen search warrant. (Did he? I thought that he was recused from that. I could be wrong.) Anyway, I don't think that Jeff Sessions will in any way prevent Cohen from getting indicted on something like an FEC violation and/or wire fraud in connection with "Essential Consultants, LLC."

I don't think that anyone's private payments to any lawyer, any witness or any other player means a damned thing when it comes to Trump. President Trump has a big decision to make. Unless he requests an extension, his personal financial disclosure report is due Tuesday.

Under the Ethics in Government Act, he has to disclose all liabilities that exceeded $10,000 at any time during calendar year 2017, even if he repaid them later that year. That includes his debt to Michael Cohen for the $130,000 payment Cohen made in October 2016 to adult film star Stormy Daniels (real name Stephanie Clifford).

The question is whether Trump will disclose that debt, as well as any others he might have omitted.

The answer should be easy, but the president is in a difficult position. He left out the Daniels-related debt in the financial disclosure report he filed on June 14, 2017. Disclosing it now means acknowledging that he should have disclosed it last year. Disclosure may also lead to damaging revelations if he omitted other liabilities from any past financial disclosure reports or incurred new ones since June. As a result, the president’s team could be looking for a way to justify the omission.”

In ruling unanimously for Warner Bros. Television Productions, the state high court said the show's writers did not direct their lewd comments at the woman who sued them or at women particularly.

State law "does not outlaw sexually coarse and vulgar language or conduct that merely offends," Justice Marvin R. Baxter wrote for the court.

Baxter said the court based its decision "on the totality of the undisputed circumstances, particularly the fact the 'Friends' production was a creative workplace focused on generating scripts for an adult-oriented comedy show featuring sexual themes."

This is another odd disjointed comment Tim. First, what didn’t “work out”? Has anything been concluded regarding the Stormy scandal? Not that I’ve heard. Secondly when was Stormy “carried by Democrats on a sedan chair into DC” ( yes I know you don’t mean it literally)? I doubt too many people feel Stormy Daniels was wronged beyond being bought off too cheaply. Democrats didn’t and don’t care about Stormy, it’s not about Stormy. It’s about Trump breaking Campaign Finance laws or worse types of corruption.

I hope I’ve cleared up your confusion.

FIDO said...

Let me do an Inga: Here is the indictment on those 13 Russians

Also while posing as U.S. persons, the indictment says they contacted Trump campaign operatives to provide support. The indictment makes clear that the Trump organizers were unaware of the Russians’ true identities and motives.

Not until page 23 of the 37-page indictment does the defendants’ true purpose come into focus. As stated there, after the election, they organized and promoted rallies “in support of president-elect Trump, while simultaneously using other false U.S. persons to organize and coordinate rallies protesting the results of the 2016 presidential election.”

For example, on November 12, 2016, the defendants and their unnamed co-conspirators organized a rally in New York designed to “show your support for President-Elect Donald Trump” while on the same date they organized a rally in New York called “Trump is NOT my President.” Three days later, they organized a North Carolina rally entitled “Charlotte Against Trump.”

In addition to undercutting the Trump-Russia collusion narrative, these anti-Trump measures make apparent that, rather than achieve any particular electoral outcome, the defendants intended to sow dissension, bitterness, and distrust among the American electorate. They were trying to do in America what Russia has done in other countries by mounting disinformation campaigns to undermine trust and confidence in democratic institutions.

But Senator Chuck is the modern day Walter Duranty to Putin's Stalin, happy to let them gut trust in America as long as he can get Trump to fall first. At least Duranty got a Pulitzer.

Sad really. Particularly since a revelation like this will not make Chuck question anything.

Nixon gave them just enough to let them do it with the help of the FBI #2 man.

Trump hasn't.

The origin of the 2016 counterintelligence operation, which was specifically started by CIA Director John Brennan sharing his ‘raw intelligence product’ with the FBI, was not an official product of the U.S. intelligence community. Brennan was NOT using official partnerships with intelligence agencies of our Five-Eyes partner nations; and he did not provide raw intelligence -as an outcome of those relationships- to the FBI.

It was all an op by the Deep State, which includes the Obama Intelligence people.

Clapper has already admitted he lied. Brennan is going down. Nunes has the goods.

On May 23rd, 2017, Former CIA Director John Brennan gave very specific testimony to congress where he noted he provided the raw intelligence to FBI Director Comey – FULLSTOP. We now know Stefan Halper was part of the group assembling that raw intelligence. All of it was, as Nunes outlined, “through unofficial channels”.

Listen carefully to the opening statement from former CIA Director John Brennan May 23rd, 2017, during his testimony to congress. Pay very close attention to the segment at 13:35 of this video of Brennan’s testimony:

You are still in the early stages of this. Keep watching as the OIG report comes out.

Speaking of weird cases.

"Today the prosecutor has dropped the false charges against me," Greitens said to a crowd of reporters after emerging from the courthouse. "It is a great victory and it was a long time coming. This experience has been humbling and I have emerged from it a changed man."

Greitens faced a felony charge based on allegations that he took a partially nude photograph of a woman without her consent while they were having an affair in 2015. She was allegedly bound and blindfolded when the photo was taken, and she says he threatened to release it if she ever spoke about the affair.

Judge Rex Burlison agreed to unseal the transcripts related to his decision to allow Greitens' team to depose the prosecutor.

Andy McCarthy is on the case, not Inga's "Gateway Pundit" and the hammer is coming down.

Page, the lawyer, then counseled Strzok to be careful of what he signs in England so that he can “lawfully protect” the information — meaning, conceal it. As she put it, “Just thinking about Congress, foia [the Freedom of Information Act], etc.” Strzok replied that he had just sent a document to Page by FBInet email; she instructed him to forward it to two people: “[REDACTED] and Trisha too” (another apparent reference to the Justice Department’s Trisha Anderson). Page elaborated that Trisha “is acting Jim” — which seems to mean she was acting temporarily in the stead of James Baker, then the Bureau’s general counsel.

Read the rest, It is coming out and it is going to be bigger than Watergate.

Meh, Michael K.

I had a black gentleman who KNEW, he KNEW that Trump was going down due to Manafort etc.

Now you KNOW that there will be a huge housecleaning in the FBI.

Well...I am a bit doubtful. Comey and McCabe are going down for sure. Too high profile and obvious. Brennan, maybe. Page and Strzok will change careers because any progress they would make has been destroyed. Damaged goods who MAY get a golden parachute, but their besmirched.

But that deep cleansing? I think there is going to be a lot of deck shuffling. Suddenly, the 'ascendant' Dem minions in the FBI will be as self censoring as a Conservative professor at a Sociology Conference. Some of the worst will get transfers. Some careers stalled.

The FBI touched that hot iron and now they will be holding their hand under their armpit for a long time.

Do you folks ever step back and acknowledge that yur talking about an organization that during the electoral processes (i.e. when it's time to go deep-state-y) only put a thumb on the scale in favor of DJT (w/ leaks that were anti-HRC and public statements (e.g. Comey) that were anti-HRC), while the anti-DJT stuff that they knew about never became public?

So, if you get the purge that you want, how much more will theses agencies work to elect Rs?

Follow up: how certain are you that having the government's law enforcement agencies working to manipulate the electorate to benefit Rs is a good thing?

FTR, do y'all still believe that gov labor unions politicking to support the election of Ds who will kick back is bad? Not that that has any relevance to my Q re law enforcement using law enforcement to elect Rs.

Sheesh.

Wow..look into your vacant whitespace and see if you can find a more accurate interpretation. I guess it was redacted.

Inga: "When did you last “see” Mueller? You’re projecting, or read some foolish stuff on Gateway Pundit, or some such trashy publication."

Perhaps someone simply read the transcripts from the moronic Mueller/Rosenstein indictment of the Russian individuals and companies....one of which (a company) was not even in existence during the timeframe necessary to be part of the indictment!

LOL

And one of the other entities shows up in court to answer the charges, plead not guilty and ask for a speedy trial.

Great, right? I mean, quick trial and justice in the American courts!!...

...except suddenly, surprisingly, hilariously, the Mueller team of democrat hacks begins arguing that the indicted company had never been properly served!! LOL Even though that is 100% a defense tactic to try and delay prosecution!!

So why in the world would the prosecution which indicted the entity suddenly offer up a Defense strategy to delay the proceedings and then claim the defendants were not properly served?

Hmm?

We all know why. The indictments were a sham and Mueller and his team of hacks never believed for one second that any russian individuals or companies would actually show up and contest the charges.

Mueller and his team clearly do NOT want to have to prosecute this case......almost as if there is no real evidence at all........
