Many of these disastrous winter fires, particularly in the South, are caused by efforts to keep warm, either by the residents themselves using a fireplace that has not been properly cared for creosote buildup in the flue, for example, or transients holded up in a garage or cellar.; 1/5/18, 4:09 PM

"A suspect of interest is being spoken to. But there have been no charges, to my knowledge, related to the fire at this time."

Barton later released a statement, saying, "The ongoing investigation does not lead us to believe that the fire is in any way related to Roy Moore or allegations made against him. More details will be released when warrants are obtained."

They have a suspect and they seem to be ruling out a political motive, so that means waiting until final investigation is completed.; 1/5/18, 4:50 PM

Granted, I was young and everything I owned would fit into my truck, but it still sucked.
All you can tell yourself is that you're lucky you didn't get burned up too.
I remember a lot of people were very kind. It was winter and they gave me warm clothes to wear and a place to stay for a little while.
The only irreplaceable thing I lost was a hunting rifle built by my grandfather and handed down to me. I still feel bad about that.; 1/5/18, 5:31 PM

According to Johnson and neighbor Kevin Tallant, other neighbors witnessed a young man who had a history of public intoxication walking around the house before and during the blaze. "He's been trouble in the neighborhood for a while".

....She said a woman neighbor told her that the young man in question approached her as she was getting in her car that morning and asked if she thought Johnson's house was going to burn. However, if it is arson, it is 50% likely it was set by the owner, 40% likely it was set by an anti-Moore/Trump partisan as false-flag, and 10% it was set by a Moore/Trump supporter.; 1/6/18, 12:54 AM
