With Aaron Rodgers out with a broken collar bone, Brett Hundley will be exposed now. It will not be pretty. Joe Callahan will be promoted from the practice squad to the active roster.

I predict Mike McCarthy will stick with Hundley for a while out of loyalty. But Callahan will end up the starter in a few games. The process will be ugly to watch.

Do they have at the park a little art exhibit or art memorial for the U Wisconsin invention of Social Security?

Don't you mean they will get the uber-talented QB who's just waiting to lead a team to the Super Bowl, Colin Kaepernick? And if not, don't they just reaffirm the institutionalized racism hurled without thought from the left?

I mean, he left SF after throwing the ball at receivers' feet and being replaced as the starter, but who are we to throw logic at a good "white man keeping a brother down" story?

So come on Packers! Your season is over. Own up to that and use this time to burnish your "white privileged but not totally racist" bona fides.

We have already been assured that Colin Kaepernick is better than most of the backup QB's.

I look forward to ESPN's vigorous debate tomorrow about whether he's better than Brett Hundley and whether the Packers' failure to sign him should be taken as yet another sign of institutionalized racism.

Because that's what ESPN has become.

Many things might happen with Aaron Rodgers injured. And winter is coming on - months of gray, cold months to be faced. Maybe an EMP. But we won't see Aaron Rodgers replaced by Colin Kaepernick.

Bix Cvvv said...

Rodgers going down is not good news for anyone - we are all men, and an injury to any man is an injury to any one of us - give or take a few exceptions - but it is common for QBs to go down with an injury and be replaced by another QB who leads the team to a Super Bowl (in NY, DC, and Boston, anyway). It has been about a decade since a team has won the Super Bowl without an elite quarterback (Baltimore - Trent Dilfer - a tough guy but not an elite quarterback - was the last time) but being an "elite" quarterback has a lot to do with "having been given the opportunity to try and try and try again" and once in a while somebody who did not have that privileged opportunity just f**ing steps up. So no I would not count out Green Bay, they still have a good chance this year. (Not that I care, all those cold and callous kneelers - as if everyone of them did not have a grandparent with friends who died in "Nam or who would have, if asked, died in "Nam or would have went to jail instead of going to "Nam - God bless then all - have got to shape up for a few years before I give a f**k about the National Flibbertygibbet League again).

- Virtue signaling
- Fishing expedition to embarrass the NFL

How is the average life span?

Because of all the money that has flooded in there has been a lot of improvements. And how the US does war, casualties have been minimal.

If the Afghan mineral wealth can be unlocked by anyone it would help the country a lot.

Currently Afghanistan runs a huge deficit in trade.

An exciting development is the railway to a port in Iran being cofunded by India and India.

Until the Taliban support by Pakistan is solved, I don’t see an endgame,

Trump is not happy being in Afghanistan and wants an endgame. Endless whack a mole is not his style.

Thanks to the kind folks who opined on my where-to-live-how-about-MSP post a couple cafes back; I appreciate your valuable advice. Several mentioned the Minnesota [n]ice thing and advised us to be prepared for that; I know it will take a good five years to make real friends there ~ that's a drawback, but Texas can be pretty cliquey too, tbh. And the thing about living somewhere sucky (as I currently do) is that maybe you make friends with interesting, non-sucky, non-complacent people, but they GTHO as soon as they can rectify the mistake of having moved here in the first place. MSP seems like the kind of place that people [who can handle the cold] like living, and tend to stay long-term. We would like to cultivate long-lived friendships and put down roots for ourselves and our children.

And as for taxes, it will definitely be a bummer to go to a state income tax...we already pay comparable property and sales taxes, so that will be a new one to add to the bottom line. As much as I hate to admit it, having lived in and travelled to a wide variety of places that vary in their taxation, I've come to the conclusion that as far as quality of life goes you tend to get what you pay for. There are lots of nicer places in low-tax high-freedom low-services Texas, sure, but they are few and far between and mostly it's crumbling roads, sky-high drunk driving, litter, teen pregnancy and general trashy behavior and malaise. The 'nice' places are usually brand new communities that were prairie 9 minutes ago until they came out of the box with ready to assemble freeways, frontage roads, strip malls, and chain stores with people who also arrived 9 minutes ago. Not much of a sense of history and community.

Several folks also suggested various locales in Washington state ~ we are originally from WA and would love to go back, but I cannot handle the Amageddon that has erased our beloved Seattle (fellow Husky fistbump from Mr. Pants to mockturtle, btw ~ he's UW '92) and we simply cannot afford to live anywhere that we would like to. It breaks my heart, because having been born and raised there it is home and my giant family almost all still lives there and like an idiot in 2010 I sold the house I'd owned since 2002 and if I still had it now we might be able to get into a house that meets our needs (we are expecting our sixth child) but here we are. I've just accepted that I will not be able to raise my children where I was raised.

Birches ~ we talked about SLC as well because we like the mountains and affordable-ish 6 bedroom houses, but hubby lived in Arizona for years and it was hard enough for him there to make friends, being churchy but non-Mormon, and I know we and worse our kids would always be outsiders. Plus I love to bake too much to live at four thousand feet :)

Thus ends my novel. Have a great Monday, Althousians.

Rh, you know that I like your stuff, but you have a couple blind spots here and there. Blade Runner has a plot, for instance, Ford's character gets deeper and deeper into the world that created the time limited genetically engineered super humans, he is won over by them and even falls in love with one, since you, ironically, seem to require a love interest.

The trouble with Blade Runner, the last time, was the point at which he fell in love with the robot; the estimated plot from there was going to be too banal to bear.

Falling in love with an actual person that you don't like is the interesting case. The discovery that opposites fit. It has a moral to it.

Miss-placed your pants,

I believe that Salt Lake City within the city limits proper is actually majority not Mormon now.

Also depending on your income level there's Park city and deer Valley area which is very much western Rocky Mountain outdoors city-like.

As a Mormon who grew up in the New York metro area I can tell you I understand some of the cultural issues in Utah. But one person I talk to who was moved to Utah by American Express, said that they didn't like the culture generally but they have the best neighbors they have ever had individually.

If you're kind of a do your own thing or sort of live and let live person, I think you'd be fine in Utah but if you ar bothered by people thinking differently, or odd cultural dynamics bother you, then buyer beware

Funny ~ I was just telling my kids a day or two ago about Mormons (they haven't met any), about how I don't share their unique beliefs but that I grew up in a town with lots of them and they really are delightful people, the best neighbors you can ask for and comprise a fair contingent of my lifelong friends.

If you're kind of a do your own thing or sort of live and let live person, I think you'd be fine in Utah but if you ar bothered by people thinking differently, or odd cultural dynamics bother you, then buyer beware

We're definitely a we-do-us, high tolerance for freethinking and unique life approaches, kind of family. My experience with communities past a certain tipping point of Mormons though is that they aren't really into befriending others who think differently or have their own odd cultural dynamics. I'm fine with not everyone wanting to be my BFF but I don't want to be shut out of everything because we're not LDS. The key (like so many things in life) is probably just to find the right balance.

Thanks for the insight~we'll give it another look. We really do love the mountains, and communities made up of people who are clean-living, literate and responsible.

I Have Misplaced My Pants said...

Also, this just occurred to me, we don't drink, and it is VERY hard to find friends in Texas who want to do things together that don't revolve around alcohol. So maybe Utah would be a friendlier place in that regard.

BL~mostly cost and distance. I love Westchester and we got pretty far down the pike, visiting it twice on scouting trips and narrowing our preference to the Mt. Kisco/Katonah/Pound Ridge triangle, but sadly ultimately concluded that houses are very expensive, taxes are very high and it's a hike to get into the city or to Newark. Mr. Pants flies weekly for work so airport access is an issue for us (he hates La Guardia and JFK and the little Westchester airport is cute but cumbersome for a frequent flier). As much as we love the idea of running into HRC in a cafe in Chappaqua, it's hard to not be swayed by a place like this in Minneapolis: beautiful home at half the price you'd pay in Westchester, with similar pretty foliage overlooking a river valley that is an easy 20 minute drive to MSP.

Bad Lieutenant said...
