"Kellogg's to replace racially insensitive Corn Pops boxes following Twitter call out."

USA Today reports.

Here's the tweet that got action:

He's also the only one working. Why is Kellogg's teaching kids that white people are lazy and exploitative? This is an outrage.

rhhardin said...

It's because the average IQ in Mexico is 88. In Spain it's 98.

That's countryism not racism.

Freeman Hunt said...

I wonder if the artist shaded the face because the character is wearing a hat.

Sebastian said...

"why is literally the only brown corn pop on the whole cereal box the janitor? this is teaching kids racism" Why is literally the most asinine comment on corn pop racism a form of classism?

It takes a highly sensitive snowflake to react to such a subtle prompt.

When are they going to address the blatant insensitivity of Fruity Pebbles?

One time my Alphabets randomly lined up in my cereal bowl and spelled the first syllable of a racial epithet. So that's got to go.

And don't get me started on Lucky Charms.

The janitor in 17 Again (2009) is black, though a wise black. The pastoral move was necessary to the plot. A wise white janitor wouldn't have the necessary distancing effect.

traditionalguy said...

Ah, ha. Kelloggs are owned by White people. Where is Robert Mugabe when you need him?

tim in vermont said...

That is pretty bad.

tcrosse said...

For a while the Pillsbury Doughboy was Whole Wheat instead of Lily White as some sort of Diversity pitch.

rhhardin said...

Hmh. IMDB shows the janitor as white. I remember him as black.

Hilarious. He'll be a doctor in no time. All that night school has really paid off.

Fortune 1000 companies have HR and PR teams that went to the same schools as the SJWs who are now bringing these accusations. There is mutual understanding, and there is mutual benefit. The SJWs get publicity and sometimes a payoff (e.g. somebody's brother-in-law runs a Social Justice Consultancy Inc. that gets a fat contract as part of the "settlement"). And the HR and PR people get a crisis they can "manage" for future career gains.

Smaller firms probably resist more. And we consumers are left to fashion boycotts as best we can. Me, I go out of my way on the cereal aisle to NOT buy Kelloggs.

Brown corn pop!

What level of woke you on?
I care about equitable representation of races in boardrooms, university administrations, etc.

In College, they don't teach Shakespeare or Mark Twain, they teach young idiots how to spot racism.

Uh oh. Kellogg’s better do something about Coco Pops and the monkey now.

That's painfully obvious.

Trying to extract social points out of whitey.

If kids are learning from cereal boxes, they are retarded anyway.

His hands are dark too. Everyone knows the burnt pop is the best. I think they intended to make a "burnt" pop as a gentle inside joke. They weren't thinking in racial lines.

But I agree it's pretty bad and they are right to replace it.

Curious George said...

Why are the Froot Loos so fabulous!

That's homophobic!

William said...

I always used to contemplate cereal boxes in the morning. I was more into reading about the riboflavin content than into studying the illustrations, but, in my day, the illustrations weren't that complex or interesting.

Etienne said...

Janitors make good money. Don't shame them.

BarrySanders20 said...

"And don't get me started on Lucky Charms."

Trix exploits sex workers.

Froot Loops trades on the goodwill of LGBTQTTLMNOP folks, esp with those fabulous rainbow colors.

Apple Jacks presumes cisgendredness and male superiority ignoring Jill's equal contributions

Honey Smacks is both sexist and pro-domestic violence.

Oh the humanity.

Question to ask an SJW: Is "racism" taught or is it hard wired?

I've heard the claim that "all white people are racist," (which is on it's face a racist statement, but I digress...), so from that we must deduce that it's hard wired, and therefore racism cannot be taught.

Kevino, thank you for the Wargames reference. Just LOL'ed pretty hard.

These types of stories are generally silly in my opinion, but at the same time it's hard to imagine what the artist was thinking and how this passed through what must be layers of approvals at ad agencies and the company's ad department.

President-Mom-Jeans said...

This is fucking retarded. Shame on Kellogs for rolling over to the Jawa social justice warrior shitty comic book tracer who complained.

This is how you get more Trump.

What happened to the Cream of Wheat man?

Steven Wilson said...

Well,
Some statements from Kellogg after Trump's election made my decide to buy my Raisin Bran elsewhere, and now this caving in to what I suspect is a specious claim reinforces my wisdom in separating myself from such PC/SJW lunacy.

Does this not smack of a dorm room prank? How far can we push this weenies?

"We're being discriminated against" say:

Blacks (92%)
Latinos (78%)
Native Americans (75%)
Asians (61%)
Whites (55%)
LBGTQ people (90%)

according to poll by NPR, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Harvard School of Public Health, taken over the span of four months with responses from more than 3,400 people across the country.

n.n said...

The jackass in the ivory towers is the diversity racket that not only discriminates between individuals by the "color of their skin", but has promoted a progressive condition that denies individual dignity.

As for the color of the drawings, there are no politically neutral colors. The rainbow is a political symbol that expresses a violent ambition to shred whites into their constituent colors. The rainbow symbolism is also exclusive of blacks and browns. Finally, where there is white, there isn't black, and vice versa. Where does brown exist in harmony?

And blue, is closely associated with progressive liberalism, a degenerative ideology, which advocates for diversity that denies individual dignity, and abortion rites that deny human evolution and wholly innocent lives deemed unworthy, inconvenient, and profitable.

Perhaps a striation of colors: separate and congruent.

Politically incorrect potato heads.

We must have entered a diversity racket revenue cycle. I wonder if their green needs will be satisfied with breaking Kellogs's kneecaps.
