Some illusions are puzzling, some are tragic and some are amusing. An amusing type currently permeates the MSM. Somehow the pundits believe that if Congress doesn’t pass legislation that Congress’s inability to do its job will reflect badly on Trump.

The wall, DACA, tax reform – you name it and it is seen as a blow to Trump if any of these are not enacted by Congress. Apparently Congress feels the same as the pundits. We’ve witnessed a decades-long history of Congress deferring to any bullshit the MSM manufactures.

I’m waiting for what I call the Great Revelation. The Great Revelation will be when the Congress realizes that Trump is smarter than all of them put together and has their collective balls (what they have left) caught in a vise with his hand on the handle.

Trump is in a win/win situation with legislation. If legislation is passed by Congress no MSM anti-Trump barrage is going to keep Trump from claiming some legislative triumphs. Trump has a powerful PR weapon that previous Presidents lacked: Twitter. If legislation is not passed by Congress Trump will place the blame squarely on Congress and his enemies among the elite GOP, where the blame rightfully falls.

Why haven't we heard more about the fact that three Equifax executives sold shares of stock before data breach was made public? Equifax Executives, Fortune Magazine

The quoted phrase "get yourself together" immediately reminded me of the Queen song:

"Equifax denied that three of its senior executives knew about the credit reporting agency's massive data breach before selling off almost $1.8 million of their shares in the company …Equifax knew of the breach on July 29, though, and the three—including the firm's chief financial officer—made unscheduled share sales over the following four days."

They are using the Sergeant Schultz defense: “I know nothing, nothing”. It worked for the NY Times.

Consortium News has published an article by Robert Parry titled "The NYT’s Yellow Journalism on Russia". Excerpts follow:

... Even routine international behavior, such as Russia using fictitious names for potential adversaries during a military drill, is transformed into something weird and evil. .... The article was entitled, “Russia’s War Games With Fake Enemies Cause Real Alarm.”

Of course, the U.S. and its allies also conduct war games against fictitious enemies, but you wouldn’t know that from reading the Times. For instance, U.S. war games in 2015 substituted five made-up states – Ariana, Atropia, Donovia, Gorgas and Limaria ...

The Times’ behavior over the past several years suggests something even more sinister than biased reporting. The “newspaper of record” has slid into yellow journalism ... The daily message is that you must learn to hate Russia and its President Vladimir Putin ....

The Times doesn’t even try for a cosmetic appearance of objective journalism. Look at how the Times has twisted the history of the Ukraine crisis, treating it simply as a case of “Russian aggression” or a “Russian invasion.” The Times routinely ignores what actually happened in Ukraine in late 2013 and early 2014 when the U.S. government aided and abetted a violent coup that overthrew Ukraine’s elected President Viktor Yanukovych after he had been demonized in the Western media. ....

On Feb. 20, 2014, instead of seeking peace, a sniper firing from a building controlled by anti-Yanukovych forces killed both police and protesters, touching off a day of carnage. Immediately, the Western media blamed Yanukovych.

Even as neo-Nazi and ultranationalist protesters hurled Molotov cocktails at police, Yanukovych signaled a willingness to compromise and ordered his police to avoid worsening violence. .... Shaken by the violence, Yanukovych again tried to pacify matters by reaching a compromise — guaranteed by France, Germany and Poland — to relinquish some of his powers and move up an election so he could be voted out of office peacefully. He also pulled back the police.

At that juncture, the neo-Nazis and ultra-nationalists spearheaded a violent putsch on Feb. 22, 2014, forcing Yanukovych and other officials to flee for their lives. Ignoring the agreement guaranteed by the three European nations, Nuland and the U.S. State Department quickly deemed the coup regime “legitimate.” ....

However, ethnic Russians in Crimea and eastern Ukraine, which represented Yanukovych’s electoral base, resisted the coup and turned to Russia for protection. Contrary to the Times’ narrative, there was no “Russian invasion” of Crimea because Russian troops were already there as part of an agreement for its Sevastopol naval base. ...

The Times and much of the U.S. mainstream media refuses even to acknowledge that there is another side to the Ukraine story. Anyone who mentions this reality is deemed a “Kremlin stooge” in much the same way that people who questioned the mainstream certainty about Iraq’s WMD in 2002-03 were called “Saddam apologists.”

But what is particularly remarkable about the endless Russia-bashing is that – because it started under President Obama – it sucked in many American liberals and even some progressives. That process grew even worse when the contempt for Russia merged with the Left’s revulsion over Donald Trump’s election.

Many liberals came to view the dubious claims of Russian “meddling” in the 2016 election as the golden ticket to remove Trump from the White House. So, amid that frenzy, all standards of proof were jettisoned to make Russia-gate the new Watergate. ...

The Times, The Washington Post and pretty much the entire U.S. news media joined the “resistance” to Trump’s presidency and embraced the neocon “regime change” goal for Putin’s Russia. Very few people care about the enormous risks that this “strategy” entails. ....

I noticed the same thing recently. The ads I was getting suggested they were tracking my grocery loyalty card, my debit card and my Google searches. If I bought batteries, battery ads showed up etc. The ads I'm now getting suggest that I'm simply identified as Trump supporter as seen by somebody's algorithm - an aging white male survivalist Confederate gun nut.

That's actually what I was thinking, but I didn't call attention to it because I think the next line is: "Pretty soon you're going to be dead."

We're both right. I'm right for verse 1:

"Instant Karma's gonna get you
Gonna knock you right on the head
You better get yourself together
Pretty soon you're gonna be dead
What in the world you thinking of
Laughing in the face of love
What on earth you tryin' to do
It's up to you, yeah you"

You're right for verse 2:

"Instant Karma's gonna get you
Gonna look you right in the face
Better get yourself together darlin'
Join the human race
How in the world you gonna see
Laughin' at fools like me
Who in the hell d'you think you are
A super star
Well, right you are"

sunsong's quote comes from a New Yorker satire.

It would be very funny if Sanders had actually said that. Putting up the quote without a link to the satire is bad. It's a "fake news" move.

Sunsong, did you believe Sanders actually said it or did you know you were passing along a fake quote without connecting it to the humor piece?

The statement that "Whites are Superior" has no meaning without an operational definition. Individual non-whites are certainly "superior" in many if not all aspects, to individual "whites." I have not seen a denial of this "Spewed" over this blog.

One thing that is certain is that societies founded by sub groups of "whites", Western Europe, US, Canada, Australia for example are more desired as destinations than other places as evidenced by the fact that others will put their lives at risk to try to live there. As to why these places are desirable one can argue. If C. Beard is right we have good societies built on a foundation of evil. He may be right but humans are imperfect and strive to the good.

It may be also true that when "Whites" are less influential in some cities that conditions are less favorable, as evidenced by the fact that non-whites try to leave. If this is racism and banned speech then we as a nation will never address the true issues needed for progress of all mankind.

You mean the IQ stuff? You can easily disprove all that with a few anecdotes.

J Lennon wished he was S Marriott. (He says, nervously, looking around for space to run)

Marriott's Get Yourself Togethers were more exuberant, joyous, sensual. He left the reprimandial tones to others. And if "reprimandial" isnt a word, it should be, and I declare henchforth it is now

Sunsong, if you want she said it, she said it. That's one of the main advantages of being you. The world is always exactly the way you want it to be! Here's the quote, from the New Yorker's Idiot-In-Residence Andy Borovitz;

"WHITE HOUSE REJECTS SUPREMACIST LABEL: "NO ONE HAS DONE MORE THAN TRUMP TO PROVE WHITE PEOPLE ARE NOT SUPERIOR"

You're probably going to find it difficult to remain as ignorant as you like to be if you keep reading the comments on this blog. Did you know that East Asians have a higher average IQ than whites? That's why they are discriminated against by all your Progressive friends. They don't want to see a barely literate black man denied the opportunity to fail visibly and miserably at an Ivy League university, just so some brilliant Chinese woman can flex her Yellow Privilege.

Good luck jaw-boning Althouse into content censorship. I think that Althouse has a perhaps naive faith in the power of truth to make itself evident through argument. The idea of a "public forum" is that when awful racists like myself "spew lies", the remedy is for right-thinking people like yourself to correct our misstatements, preferably in such a way that your superior knowledge and analytic power is evident to all. But I can see why you might not want to go that route. Appealing to some authority to make me shut up is probably a more realistic option for you. But not Althouse. Try Google.

Sunsong, are you making an assertion that people in the comments on this blog are saying "whites are superior"? If you are complaining about lying, make sure that you yourself do not lie.
