I thought Ivanka and Jared actually moved back to New York.

I didn't ascribe enough meaning to the comma in this WaPo headline: "Ivanka and Jared, move back to New York."

The column is by Joe Scarborough. He's advising IT and JK to move back to New York. I'm not advising you to read his column which I assume is boring. I just thought it was really interesting hot news. Important comma.

I would say Lincoln had him beat, except maybe they didn't have polls back then, and thus not the real point of that statement.

I mean, when Lincoln got elected, half the country left the Union.

But maybe since they didn't have polls, he wasn't rated "the least popular in the polls."

Newsweek’s latest issue calls President Trump a “Lazy Boy,” showing him on the cover lounging in a chair watching TV.

The cover, which was released Thursday, shows Trump in a recliner, his suit stained from Cheetos while juggling a fast food bag and a soda. Other discarded fast-food containers litter the floor next to the president in what appears to be the White House.

“Donald Trump is bored and tired,” the cover reads. “Imagine how bad he’d feel if he did any work.”

The cover continues with a list of numbers for the Trump administration, including that the president has had 6 months in office, spent 40 days at golf clubs and has passed zero pieces of major legislation.

For example, I might cite agreeing to sell anti-missile missiles to Poland. Please, please, PLEASE don't interpret this as a request to debate whether Trump is a Savior or the AntiChrist. The people who comment on this thread are typically very knowledgeable, and also often very snarky. I'd love to get the benefit of the knowledgeable part. I am not trying to start a debate. But like most things in Trump world, this is not an achievement yet. Just an agreement in principle, nothing has been signed. Trump sees being president as a sinecure.

That's just stupid.

There are a wide variety of things that Trump has accomplished. One of the big ones is that those polls you people fluff yourselves on are obviously meaningless and the sentient part of the country laughs at them. The media never shows the polls about how many people believe them anymore.

Another is that Trump has outed the GOPe uniparty traitors. They voted for 6 years to repeal Obamacare and when they had their chance? Hard to describe how cowardly and shitty the republican party is.

Mostly though we all see Trump trying to take the government boot off our necks. He is eliminating regulations that were never voted on daily.

Yesterday the senate confirmed 72 Trump appointees which is more than they have confirmed since he was inaugurated. That means at most Trump has 140ish of his people in position. We know who is slowing shit down in DC.

You don't hear a single thing about collusion anymore either. Looks like the Stalinist investigation has moved on into investigation of Trump's entire business history. They will find a crime somewhere right? I predict that if Mueller finds another Scooter Libby to lynch Trump will pardon him and tell Mueller to get F'd.

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

There are a wide variety of things that Trump has accomplished.

You mean, like five bankruptcies? Yes, that's certainly an uncommon accomplishment.

Or maybe you mean his record number of vacation days as president. True, not many presidents get to accomplish that, either.

Perhaps you were thinking of something along the legislative front, where he got that awesome ACA-repeal, the one he staked his career on, the one he got his Republicronies to labor on in secret - without any female or Democratic senators to craft - to FAIL! Well, I can certainly see that as an accomplishment of sorts.

How about how he said he was going to turn out country into thugistan Russia's biggest, bestest friend ever in the whole world. And then acted so suspiciously and weirdly and secretively about his personal reasons for that that his own Senate, with 53 Republicans, voted 98-0 to sanction his Siberian benefactors anyway.

Trump has filled fewer posts and positions than anyone else mostly because he can't figure out whom to appoint. After all, it's not easy to get someone to work for a guy who can't delegate, can't trust, and pits every one of his "underlings" against each other - to his own constant, personal amusement.

Oh well. He can always appoint his trusty, trust-fund-suckling son-in law to another post that he's just as unqualified for as all the others.

McCain isn't cowardly. He's a dying man who doesn't like to see others die. Braver guy than anyone you know, that's for sure. Murkowski wins write-in ballots after losing Republican primaries - something a chump like Trump could never do. That takes independence. With this independence they outwardly and most Republicans admit privately that they know their states will fall apart from repealing the ACA. It's irresponsible rhetorical bullcrap to price a tenth of your Americans out of the healthcare insurance market. Only a pyromaniacal psychopath or someone who doesn't have to run a state would go along with something so dumb and destructive.

The rest of your rhetoric is just as off-topic as usual. But demagoguing takes practice, I understand.

But wait -- there's more!

"For the Trump campaign there are a handful of states the Republican candidate must win if he is to cobble together enough states to win the White House. Among them is Florida, but numerous recent visits to the Sunshine State by Trump and his vice-presidential running mate Mike Pence did little to dent Clinton’s advantage in the contest for the state’s 29 Electoral College votes. She leads by 6 percentage points, about the same lead she enjoyed last week."

Foxconn is going to build a factory in Wisconsin. This will absolutely revolutionize the economic situation in Wisconsin. Plus it will put Wisconsin in touch with the techniques of global manufacturing as it is done these days which is something American workers need to know. Walker and Reince Priebus and the Wisconsin legislature created a business friendly atmosphere unlike that just south of the border. That's the reason Foxconn chose Wisconsin. But no businesses thought of bringing global manufacturing to the US until Trump made it one of his priorities. And low energy prices which are a result of several Trump moves such as supporting fracking, authorizing pipelines, encouraging coal mining are a good business reason to move manufacturing to the US. The Wisconsin left is of course opposing Foxconn and has suggested building up the cannabis industry or distributing iPhones for free instead of making Wisconsin part of global manufacturing.
