Looking at the previous post, I was wondering if there were any funny jokes about Donald Trump or Barack Obama.
The Telegraph published a clickbait something called "The 21 funniest jokes about Donald Trump." They're not very funny and more than a little bitter.
I also found a list of Barack Obama jokes, and they're more funny. I guess if you want to do funny humor (imagine that, humor that's funny,) you have to actually like the object of your japes.
Now that's a Van Gogh if ever I saw one.

I don't follow the NBA at all and don't know much about Ray Allen except that he played at UConn back in the 90's. Powerline pointed me to this essay he wrote recently and I thought it was one of the best things I had read on the internet in quite some time. It's worth your time to read it.

I had never heard of Jordan Peterson until this morning when my son sent me a video of one of his lectures on religion. Now I encounter him a second time here. I did like his lecture - the first in a series on the Bible.
Listened to Rush today and he talked abt how McConnell promised ACA repeal on day 1. Did the GOP congressmen not know that repealing Obamacare would also roll back the Medicaid expansion part?

Over at Slate there's an article whining that the Koch Brothers invested in a company that invested in Warner's slate of movies produced recently, and that one of those movies was Wonder Woman. You can't make this stuff up.

Side note, my daughter's Malti/Lhasa Apso mix (Zoey) got into it with a coyote that got into the back yard and tried to take her Yorkie. Zoey jumped in to fight the coyote off and both dogs almost got killed. Some serious surgery, but both are just fine now. This was at my ex-wife's house.
Facebook is showing me an ad for a paint-by-numbers canvas. Also, a notebook that does the same thing as a regular notebook except that it is digital, so it is $479 instead of one dollar. I think big data is calling me, a woman, an idiot. Hostile browsing environment I say.

I think I did too. The woods were full of them.
Here in the outskirts of Las Vegas the coyotes come down out of the hills and lunch on the little nuisance dogs that old ladies fancy. My next-door neighbor is a stately 87 year old widow with a very well behaved shih tsu with whom she goes for very long walks. She packs heat, although it is illegal to discharge a firearm within city limits. Many years ago she was an officer in the US Army, so probably knows how to use the sidearm correctly.

Excellent, tcrosse. (8.26 post) You wouldnt last 12 minutes in Nazi Germany or Soviet Union before they laid down the indictment. Not sure if it would be hours or days at Google at present. Please take that as a compliment.
NPR reports that Airbnb is canceling reservations for customers it determined are affiliated with a "Unite the Right" rally. They state the group are white nationalists and they do not meet their standards for customers. Creepy. Is this their norm, investigating what events their customers plan to attend.Wonder how their hosts feel about this. At the Guardian, they've decided that Damore didn't really gain a doctorate (I have no idea if he's claimed to have done so or hasn't) and have also dug up a former 'classmate' who says Damore was never the proper sort of Harvard man and that his descent into deplorability began long ago. Ten minutes of the Peterson video and I'd had enough but Damore certainly doesn't strike me as a fundamentalist alt-right white nationalist sort of fellow intent on handmaidening every woman into sackcloth and childbirth (sorry, but it all runs together).

I watched the entire Peterson video. I should write something about it. Peterson had no idea how to draw Damore out and seemed only too willing to fill up all the available space on his own. Phallocracy in action??
I read Peterson when he's noticed by someone else who points me in his direction and generally do find myself nodding in agreement but he does seem very much the lecturer and not the interviewer.

Yes, but Damore seems rather non-verbal. Peterson kept saying things and allowing a moment for Damore to comment but he kept just nodding. I suspect a real interview might have been pretty slow. Several times Peterson asked a question and got very brief answers.
Peterson is not just some guy interviewing him. He has gotten huge publicity because of Google's retaliation for his comments on transgender psychology.
I agree that Damore seems 'non-verbal'-- what a dopey sort of fellow, was my first thought listening to him stutter out his responses about his background and so forth. But I reckon he is not much used to being at the center of a cause célèbre or being interviewed for that matter, so he gets slack cut.

He is also suing Google, so it is wise for him to think before he speaks rather than say something which gives them post hoc justification to expand what he wrote into what they wanted him to say.
