John Kerry and Leonardo DiCaprio embracing.
It's not the man-on-man love that bothers me. Or even the married person swayed by a playboy. It's the grotesquerie of politicians finding love with the Hollywood stars.
Once more you open the door/And you're here in my heart/And my heart will go on and on...
No. Could you close that door please? Separation of entertainment and politics. Entertainment indulges us with fantasy and escape. Keep that out of politics. It's disgusting.

You haven't heard of the new cabinet post?
Secretary of propaganda?
years of leadership working to protect our oceans.
But NOT, you know, actually protecting them. Just working to do it. And failing.
I normally agree but if The Rock wants to bend Harry Reid over the sofa....I'll allow it!

"Entertainment" is a big business, and like any big business it finds that greasing the palms of politicians has a really good ROI.
I'm sure that much of Hollywood truly believes that the Democratic Party is a force for good. That the Democratic Party (& often the Republican as well) crafts laws & regulations that make Hollywood lots of money ensures that Hollywood never has to choose between their consciences & their pocketbooks.
"Draw me like one of your haughty, French-looking pols."

It's been done:
On Tuesday (last Tues), President of Argentina Cristina Kirchner appointed the philosopher and ruling-party supporter Ricardo Forster as head of the Secretariat for Strategic Coordination of National Thought
There are some actors who can really pull off the role of hero, or great lover, or kind humanist. It's not just acting. There's something about them in that role that you want to believe in. You get your money's worth when you see their movies. I don't suppose that Mel Gibson or Tom Cruise are especially heroic n the way they have handled the challenges of their own lives, but they're credible when they play a hero on screen.......I don't mind it when a star falls beneath the image he projects. As Cary Grant said, not even Cary Grant can be Cary Grant. But I find it kind of bait and switch when an actor uses the good will that he has generated from past roles to sell a political viewpoint of which he has no particular expertise or wisdom to offer........Beyond that, the historical record indicates that artists don't have an especially distinguished history in their political choices.
I would have preferred a full on kiss. Seal the deal. Grrrrr!
Great pic.
Madison Man - HEY, he is promoting awareness! That is all that is needed! Duh!
Washington is not only Hollywood for ugly people, it's academia for stupid people. Kerry qualifies on both counts.
It's about the Benjamins - and Kerry would rather spend DiCaprio's than his own.
Duck Dynasty...IOKIYAR

And Obama said he'd stop the rise of the oceans. And he believed that he could talk the Islamists into pacifism in Cairo with his magic words.
The Progs are full of fantasy, natural partners with the ftala attractions of Hollywood.
The connection between politics and entertainment is natural, as both fields are dominated by gigantic egos.
A difference, highlighted by the photo, is that Leo has earned his gigantic ego, and Kerry has not.
They're brothers. They share environmental "concern", excessive wealth, and grossly disproportionate use of fossil fuels.

Huh? Politics IS entertainment. Fuck else is it good for?

This is why I will stop watching any stand up comedian once they get too angry-political. Its sad to see an otherwise creative, intelligent, funny set take a nosedive when they throw the obligatory liberal red meat at the audience. And why I refuse to watch "The Daily Show" despite being a big comedy fan.
But the US population shares some responsibility for the merge of entertainment-politics, as too many people consider the opinions and mundane details of celebrity lives relevant and worth listening to. The media is only too happy to deliver.
Entertainment indulges us with fantasy and escape. Keep that out of politics.
What do you think most politics is?
Politicians want to be seen as "cool," and entertainers mostly own "cool."
Therefore, even if big-name entertainers didn't have any money (and they certainly do) politicians would still want to be seen with them.
You criticize "fantasy and escape" as somehow outside of politics but voted for "Hope and Change" in 2008?
Square the damned circle.
For all your disdain for the mixing of politics and entertainment it is funny how many actors succeed in republican politics (e.g., Reagan, Schwarzenegger, Eastwood, brandy, bono)
Why does my disdain make that funny?
You have 2 clauses as if they represent a humorous contrast, but they don't.

Freder's Comedy Show closed after one night.
And you thought what TNR did to Scott Walker was bad.
In his deepest thoughts, Kerry sees himself as a star. He is embracing what he deeply would love to be.
So Ann Althouse has her grievance with manhood: shorts.
Well, here's mine: the man hug. I hate man hugs in absolutely all forms and under all circumstances. By itself, a John Kerry-Leo DiCaprio man hug ought to be the knell. But there is so much more. The John McCain-George Bush man hug for which all copies should be burned. Every Presidential handshake in the Obama era that turns into the Don Cornelius man hug.
Not reptilian enough for you, eh!
Some people are mammals.
Kirk Parker: "Freder's Comedy Show closed after one night."
Freder's lecture on climate change and secret tricksy tricky ocean absorbing heat mechanisms closed after 1 posting.
You'd think a "performer" like Freder would actually read his material prior to laying it on us baby.
But, no.
Why is DiCaprio groomed to look like a biker or pirate?
