"Vertigo is a carnival world and I was the Human Bumper Car."

"I moved without authority because the simple act of shifting my head’s plane threw me into chaos. But so did remaining motionless. I was never comfortable or relaxed, never at ease, at home in my world."

Get heads up glasses with aircraft instrumentation, and just fly instruments.

Ignoring what it feels like is the whole method.

Just follow the instruments.

The condition surely did not take away his ability to write. The account is lucid and excruciatingly clear.

Here is a man with a high level of intelligence and curiosity, an attentive wife with similar skills and doctors who are engaged if puzzled medical. He lives where he has access to some of the best medical care around, and he has the skills to maximize the value of that access.

Yet only luck and perhaps the natural course of the disorder resolves it. I kept thinking of the people who lack his skills (nearly everybody) and his access (many and perhaps growing.) What would they have done? It seems that his doctors at least "did no harm." Probably this was conscious caution. It's a good lesson.

The country experienced vertigo when Obama got reelected.
We've been in a tailspin ever since.

Anything else you need to know?
