How do you heat that place in the winter time? I think I see forced-air vents. I'm guessing that heavy sweaters, and warm beverages are part of the solution.
I love that room. An Eames lounge chair would look spectacular in the far left corner (I can't quite see what is there). It would make a great spot for reading and napping, so long as there's some privacy in the form of trees and shrubs outside.
And beautiful feeling of peace conveyed in that space. The feeling that the space in the photo is a “workspace” that incorporates a feeling peace makes me want to incorporate more of peace into my own workspace.
I know I’m reading-into this café my private-diary meditations on peace as it’s own intrinsic reward. I know that I’m looking at a photo and reading-in a feeling of peace that might not exist whenever the “real” Althouse-goes-Vesuvius over this or that and blasts Creedence Clearwater’s, “Run Through the Jungle,” at max volume, “fill the land with smoke!” [Bye the bye, just what is her meaning in all these recent blog posts about Mary Jane? - and why do I not really want to know?].
I say let Meade handle the volcanic situations that challenge the intrinsic peace in that space. Those warm and fuzzy, "nice" and fluffy comfy slippers tucked under the desk, they don't fool me. We need to keep Meade in our prayers. As for me, I want my own fantasy. I want my own peace. And I want it now.
It is week 3 or 4 of weird, dry, 70 degree weather in Northern California. I was driving with my son yesterday and we heard something on the radio about the blizzard and both of us wished we had a chance to sit in a warm house, with a fire going, looking out at a snowstorm. Instead we have endless Spare the Air days, red flag (fire danger) warnings, and sunshine. Not loving it. Also, drought.
Even my husband, who hates snow, said he'd really like to just have some actual WEATHER - a good long rainstorm.
Your hardwood floor looks great. I am curious as to what type of wood it is.
I have installed red oak and black cherry flooring in my house. White oak flooring will be installed this summer. It almost looks cherry but it appears to have too many light streaks for the black cherry I have installed.
Does anyone know how long flickr accounts -- untended -- stick around? Or if you can acquire them from a dead relative if you don't know the user name/password?

Are you going to blog about Harris v Quinn or are you eating for the decision ?
Waiting for the decision!
I can't figure out if it is me or the spell checker doing this.

Looks like a good day to keep the drapes closed.
Here in Madison: "Large brawl erupted at West Side sports bar, police say."
Several useful adjectives missing from the article. Whereabouts unknown.

The linked article says:
"The fight apparently started between several women and grew from there."
Not all grooming related injuries are reported as such.
No dog.

Here's an Amazon link for the slippers.

It's red oak.
How about a few words from Meade. Been a while.
The Capitol singers still around?
"No dog."
There's a dog here right now.
I clicked on the left arrow. Are you preparing an exam? I see something about Lincoln and Dred Scott.

Just class notes. It's the beginning of the semester.
