Running a marathon is stupid. It's just plain stupid. Bag of hammers stupid.
The original Greek marathon runner, if the story is even true, only did so because he absolutely positively had no other choice open to him.
We now know the internal damage done to all parts of the legs, by running. Feels good when you are young, brutal consequences (that we all pay for in insurance premiums) later.
So why do people do it? Vanity? Bragging rights?
It certainly seems selfish. You don't run for someone else, do you?
I love how Col. West talks about all the planning and preparation that it takes to train for a marathon. He also reminds us of all the planning, preparation, and intense coordination it takes to make the big Marathon run smoothly for the thousands of participants.

When I was in the Army, I did a lot of running. That was back in the days when we ran for miles wearing combat boots. I'm convinced that running causes brain damage. I refuse to run unless something dangerous is chasing me. It simply wouldn't be prudent.
I ran Boston, and had just finished changing in the middle of Boyleston Street when I heard the first bomb, turned, saw the smoke and then the second bomb from 2 blocks away. I was pretty sure right then I had just heard the sounds of people being ripped apart.

Knee Surgery vs Heart Disease/Type 2 Diabetes/general system deterioration due to obesity/etc: I'd want to see some detailed numbers before I'd believe running injuries are a major factor in insurance premiums compared to the alternative.
Someone – I was running my first marathon, obviously struggling at about mile 15. An older guy, maybe 60-65, passed me. We nodded and exchanged greetings (these are actually very social events) and he went on. A few yards later, he turned around and slowed down to let me catch up with him. He ended up running the rest of the race with me, coaching me, giving me tips…then 100 yards from the finish, he encourage me to sprint, as he held back. He didn’t have to and I didn’t ask, but he put aside his goals for the day to help a first-timer.
Granted there’s a lot of lonely training miles and family time put aside in preparation of a race – it can be a self-serving venture – I get that, but then again, small things like this happen. You just hope you can return the favor.

Apparently, the evidence these days is showing that the health benefits of walking are as good as for running, so don't compare running to sitting around. Compare it to walking.
Note that with walking you can transport yourself to places where you might otherwise drive and you can do errands and carry things. Walking should set the standard by which all other physical activity is measured.
That said, is the aftermath of a bombing that blew off many legs really the time to talk about how runners are destroying their legs?
Most marathon runners I know are aware that marathon running is not the most healthy form of exercise, and that they will likely only be able to do it for a limited time. They do it because they enjoy it. I don't see the problem.

You could hold a marathon in a stadium with a 400 meter track, and then spectators could watch people run a marathon (105.5 laps). Yawn.
And taking your kid to watch a ballgame is NOTHING like having your kid at the finish line of a marathon you are running. The former is about a game you are BOTH watching, and the latter is your kid watching/witnessing your 'achievement'.
One is a social event both are experiencing, the other is something else.

Yeah, keep telling yourself that. Sounds good, anyway. Until you think about it for a few seconds.

Not the same at all.
They're not the same in terms of your enjoyment. But the nature of enjoyment or lack thereof makes no difference to who is responsible for the kid's death. If a kid is killed by a terrorist going to a family reunion he dreads are the parents responsible?
Be serious, the fact that you think running a marathon is stupid or unhealthy doesn't have any impact on the father's responsibility.
"Democratic Sens. Mark Pryor (Ark.), Max Baucus (Mont.), Heidi Heitkamp (N.D.), Mark Begich (Alaska) and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (Nev.) voted against it. Reid supported the measure but voted against it to preserve his ability to bring the measure up again."

when I first heard a pressure pot was involved I felt an instant sympathy for pressure pots because they're existing with a bad rep to begin with. People are afraid of them, they can be dangerous, but advances have been made since mother's pressure pot, and now they have two safety valves. In fact, you can replace those valves easily yourself. Just a lid with two holes and standard valves. And a pressure lock.
Such a bummer for pressure pots. I use mine all the time. Very helpful at altitude and essential in the mountains. Really, essential up there. Water boils at 185, or 190 depending on where you are, things take

I cannot stomach sick and injured kids. Adults? No problemo. But not children.
My first few weeks in pediatrics were awful. I wanted to cry and hug and console. Couldn't do anything intelligent for them. Knew I could never be involved in Peds. And the passage of time hasn't changed that one iota.
Stories like this are too awful for me to consider; cannot click on the link, cannot read it, cannot look at his picture. The Althouse headline was enough.
CEO-MMP @ I'd like to mention that people do run marathons for other people. ...
Excellent points. People will climb mountains for their loved ones. In the face of hopelessness, a marathon gives people the feeling they have a little control.
James, did he say, "I gave up an important funeral for this!" ?
Not quite in those words, but he repeated the canard that 90 percent of Americans want background checks, and that 90 percent of Senate Democrats voted for the bill and it was only defeated because Republicans voted against it. He never mentioned that 5 Democrats joined with Republicans and that some R's did cross over.
Wow, some mean spirited stuff here. If you enjoy running run, if you don't don't. Just have the grace to not be an ass about it. I think Aaron's holding one of those disgusting slugs they have in the Pacific Northwest.
I think its natural that we would want to lash out at times like this... but at the same time its not helpful to give into that temptation however tempting it may be to give in to that knowing sense of righteous indignation... and how can it not be? I mean you look at that picture and you hear those unselfish words "did mom finish - the marathon" from that kid lying in a hospital bed and you ask yourself God why do I believe in you? please save this kid. Just save this kid and I'll never bother you ever again.
@Patrick, I have no doubt. I haven't forgiven and forgotten for the tank job 2 years ago, firing Tito, hiring the imbecile who shall not be named...none of it. Haven't seen/heard more than about ten minutes of a game so far. And while I do kind of miss baseball, I'm far more captivated by hockey. Even if the Bruins are trying out their Red Sux masks lately.
And Inga, sweetie, there are already background checks. It's the whole national registry harry reid being in charge of me thing I don't like.
Educate yourself. Obviously (supposedly) you're smart, you became a nurse you claim.

either 90% do or 90% don't and I've heard that number both ways. 90% is pretty solid. It's not like 50-50, where you can waffle around.
Am not a runner, but I know plenty, including one who ran in Boston on Monday. None that I know of are emaciated desiccated zombies.
I'm having a hard time understanding what's supposed to be so bad about doing something for yourself. What exactly is selfish about doing something challenging just for the satisfaction of accomplishing it?
When it becomes a religion, then maybe it's a problem. Otherwise, go for it and congratulations.
If 90% of people supported "Universal Background Checks" the Democrats would be proposing outright handgun bans. That whole 90% thing is just a talking point the community based reality needs to stroke their own intellectual insecurities with.
Obama also tried to bring up the "40% of guns don't get a background check" lie, but he stammered over the words, mumbled something about 60% and moved on.
Terrorists are the definition of toxic narcissists seeking attention to their imaginary cause and oblivious to the suffering and death of the characters in their staged plays. They are also called evil.
Most of these young children are going to make it and goon to live full and loving lives. That is the best way to destroy the narcissists game played out for attention and control.

The Tarahumara indians of Mexico run in ultramarathons of 100 miles without a problem. 26 milers are pussies.
They are wearing a black armband sown to their uniform, for the rest of the season. They have an away (they are on the road) team jersey hanging in the dugout with the Boston area code 617 sown on the back... and the manager released a statement expressing the teams sentiments.
Pogo, for your sake and all of ours, I hope Obamacare falls under it's own weight, as it appears to be doing. The 22,000 member roofers union who strongly supported Obama and the ACA today announced they want it repealed. It turns out somebody lied to them.
So the Senate could not get the anti-gun legislation passed and the senate is controlled by the Dems. Obama puts on the big angry show for his leftwing base and the senate dems in red states are not faced with a definite dismissal at election time. Though they will be anyway.

So the Broons and Pats are coming up with over $350K, and the Sawx put a number on a jersey. Got it.
Someone supposedly arrested in the Ricin mailings. Someone from Mississippi.
Weird. What kind of nut job does such a thing? Why would anyone want to harm the wonderful people we elect to govern us?
It's been snowing non-stop for 2 days here wedged up against the rocky mountains of coloradie. I'm plum sick of it and on the verge of "self-murder". Maybe someone could mail me an envelope laced with ricin?
I'm kidding. Moisture! sweet white shitty cold f**king moisture!
Back when I was on chemo last year, a friend of mine ran Texas Ironman on my behalf. Had his trainer take a Sharpie and write my nickname on his ass, so I'd "be riding his ass all the way through Ironman." He then took a picture of his ass and posted it on Facebook. It was one of the greatest things anyone has ever done for me, IMHO.
Someone can kiss my ass. I know a lot of people who walk, run, ride for various causes, and raise money for those causes doing so. They're good people, and I love and respect the hell out out of them.
On my way back from work today, seeing, as I often do, people using their phones and mp3 players, and wondering how come nobody has come forward saying what they saw in Boston I started like many of us connecting dots...
Something ironic occurred to me... That the technology that supposedly is "bringing us closer together" may also at the same time be keeping us from seeing things like a man dropping a black bag in the trash.
The technology reaches out... making it possible for us to be here, for example, among other things... but the price is the alienation of our immediate surroundings.
I suppose we are making a choice... and we either grow 'eyes in the back of our heads' or put up more artificial eyes. The one thing for sure is, we are not giving up our hand holds.
Hey... Lets take a closer look at that Google Glass.
traditionalguy said... Terrorists are the definition of toxic narcissists seeking attention to their imaginary cause and oblivious to the suffering and death of the characters in their staged plays. They are also called evil.
===================== Not true. Terror is simply a tool of war, and all war is is "diplomacy by a different means." Same with revolution and insurgency, where it is defined as "politics by a different means"
Our side has our war heroes and our spin on "One man's terrorist is our sides Freedom Lover!"
Our list of terrorist heroes is long. From folks like Spartacus of antiquity to the Blessed Founders burning Loyalist homes and printing presses and use of dungeons without trial. Our admiration of Gen Sherman, Gerinomo, the terrorists that helped found Israel, all the people that ordered, helped or actually dropped Napalm cluster bombs on German and Japanese kids and women to kill and terrorize. Our supposed love of The Great Nelson Mandela. Reagans honestly beloving the Holy Mujahadeen Freedom Lovers - the proto Al Qaeda, taliban and Paki ISI folks - as long as they were terrorizing America's enemy.
And the Left and the Islamoids have their own set of terrorists they consider Heroes. People out risking their lives for their sacred causes through violent means...
I don't know if you have ever heard of the Jimmy Fund?
I'm sure they'll come up with something along the lines you expect. But to imply that they are doing something less than other organizations is dishonest.
Yes Lem, I'm familiar with the Jimmy Fund. Have been for a long time in fact.
I never said they didn't do anything for charity. I said they weren't doing jack shit now, as compared with the Broons and Patriots. That's all I said, and there's fucking nothing fucking disfuckinghonest about what I said.
Also, "eyes in the back of your head" used to be a pretty routine skill imparted, along with others so imparted. How quaint and faint is that, so to say.
I can see Boston PD in a partnership with Google... bla bla bla...
In Google's eyes it would be turning a negative into a positive?
Although the fun part of the marketing could suffer... they would be extolling the spying? specter of the thing at the products infancy... at the expense of this.
Been a mediocre-at-best runner all my life. As I approached 50 I decided to set a goal: run a marathon. I learned a lot about myself in that 17 week training program. Didn't make my goal of 4 hours so two years later ran it again (PF Chang's Rock & Roll) and finished in 3:56.
Last year when my daughter said she wanted to run a marathon, I gladly volunteered to train with her. Great bonding time. And she beat her goal of under 4 hours. Unfortunately I finished but injured myself. Just now recovered but I wouldn't trade those experiences.
I probably won't run any marathons anymore but continue to run and run races, just nothing more than a half.
Myselves The grievers Grieve Among the street burned to tireless death A child of a few hours With its kneading mouth Charred on the black breast of the grave The mother dug, and its arms full of fires.
Begin With singing Sing Darkness kindled back into beginning When the caught tongue nodded blind, A star was broken Into the centuries of the child Myselves grieve now, and miracles cannot atone.
Forgive Us forgive Us your death that myselves the believers May hold it in a great flood Till the blood shall spurt, And the dust shall sing like a bird As the grains blow, as your death grows, through our heart.
Crying Your dying Cry, Child beyond cockcrow, by the fire-dwarfed Street we chant the flying sea In the body bereft. Love is the last light spoken. Oh Seed of sons in the loin of the black husk left.

I know not whether Adam or Eve, the adorned holy bullock Or the white ewe lamb Or the chosen virgin Laid in her snow On the altar of London, Was the first to die In the cinder of the little skull, O bride and bride groom O Adam and Eve together Lying in the lull Under the sad breast of the head stone White as the skeleton Of the garden of Eden.
I know the legend Of Adam and Eve is never for a second Silent in my service Over the dead infants Over the one Child who was priest and servants, Word, singers, and tongue In the cinder of the little skull, Who was the serpent's Night fall and the fruit like a sun, Man and woman undone, Beginning crumbled back to darkness Bare as nurseries Of the garden of wilderness.
III
Into the organpipes and steeples Of the luminous cathedrals, Into the weathercocks' molten mouths Rippling in twelve-winded circles, Into the dead clock burning the hour Over the urn of sabbaths Over the whirling ditch of daybreak Over the sun's hovel and the slum of fire And the golden pavements laid in requiems, Into the bread in a wheatfield of flames, Into the wine burning like brandy, The masses of the sea The masses of the sea under The masses of the infant-bearing sea Erupt, fountain, and enter to utter for ever Glory glory glory The sundering ultimate kingdom of genesis' thunder.
What a sweet sweet child Aaron. Healing is possible and probable. Attitude will matter. The topic of running. It is what it is with its risks and glories. Dancing for women especially is much better, yet not always easy to find a good dance studio nearby. Elliptical/Stepper is supposed to be lighter on the knees. And you do get to a point when walking is the only option, Magnesium is good for muscleaches and it's considered natural. As per orthopädie, well, maybe you stop running before it's too late. And save your knees. And yes, Happy Arteries in the End was probably worth it, no ? What would explain Clinton's Heart Surgery, though ? Hasn't he been a runner all his life ?
SomeoneHasToSayIt said, "We now know the internal damage done to all parts of the legs, by running. Feels good when you are young, brutal consequences (that we all pay for in insurance premiums) later."
I began having panic attacks about four years ago. I thought I was dying. After many trips to the er for a "heart attack", and after numerous tests we figured out what it was.
During the attacks I'd pace, or go for a really long walk. One day during one such attack it was to cold for a walk, so I jumped on the treadmill my husband had gotten me for Christmas and that had been collecting dust. That's when I discovered I could basically out run a panic attack. I became a devoted runner working up to eight miles, six days a week. I had to force myself to take a day off. Eventually the attacks disappeared altogether and I did it without therapy or medication. My knees seem fine although I've now taken up hiking with the dog.

The family who lost their 8 yo son has a younger daughter who lost a leg. Unbelievable.
Yes, nice, and brave, kid. Tragic situation.
But living up to my handle, I just have to say:

There's an evolutionary explanation, probably.

So now are people who run Marathon 'heros'?
I need to know because the word is used so frequently that I can't keep up.
And this: the people who helped with the injured were not 'heros' - they were people helping - big difference.
The guy that tackled the 'person of interest' is closer to being one than the 'medics' because he had no idea what might happen to him.
Running is an addiction. Yes- it's horrible on the knees. I know ex-runners who don't run because of bad knees, but they still long to do it.
I prefer hiking. A hike that provides a nice payoff like a grand view is the best.
Yes, running is an addiction that makes you thinner, fitter, happier, better able to handle stress. If you train carefully and are lucky, your knees will hold out, if you're unlucky, I feel for you.

Hey Harsh Pencil -
Why did you run Boston? So you could brag that you did? So that you could feel an endorphin rush?
One of the dead is dead because he was there to greet daddy as he (daddy) also earned bragging rights.
That's my point.
Running a marathon is all about you.
This should never happen. Ever. To anybody.
Agreed. The world can be a shitty place.
(Boston Children's was helpful to me last week, calling me back with extensive information on Kawasaki disease, and they didn't even ask me to pay them, which I gladly would have.)
My father ran Boston. He loved it. He loved the challenge. It was the event that celebrated his favorite hobby.
Why do people go to conventions? That's what a race like Boston is, a serious runners' convention.

No. Survival rule #1...cardio.

Yeah, but there's a lot of bag-of-hammers stupid at conventions. Cosplay, for instance.
The Baaston Marathon is not sacred. What happened Monday was a cold, calculated act of terrorism and doesn't sanctify a 26 mile run.
I had to run in school and thought it was the most brain dead form of exercise imaginable.
If you enjoy it, good for you! It's why Breyers put little vanilla beans in its vanilla ice cream and Sealtest didn't.
That said, that's a good kid there and the Ayerses and Boudins of this country are going to have a tougher time ruining him than they think
I like to attend and watch the Irish Wolf Hound parade over Saint Patrick's day.
Is he holding a loaf in the shape of a penis?

It's the race, stupid.
Technically speaking, no, someone does NOT have to say it. Just sayin'.
So, did Mom finish or not?

And taking your kid to watch a ballgame is NOTHING like having your kid at the finish line of a marathon you are running. The former is about a game you are BOTH watching, and the latter is your kid watching/witnessing your 'achievement'.
One is a social event both are experiencing, the other is something else.
Not the same at all.

..the point it, this little man is awesome. He asked about his mom and the race. These races are important to people -they are important to families. They bring out the best in all people regardless of race, ethnicity, ideology and all that other crap.
Yeah, keep telling yourself that. Sounds good, anyway. Until you think about it for a few seconds.
someonehastosayit isjust doubling down on stupid. Man.
And completely ignores how people actually do run for other people. Like a typical shit for brains ass faced twat.
Wow...I'm listening live to Obama throw a tantrum over the background check law defeat.

Obama is kicking ass, good to hear it.

Kicking ass? More like meaningless posturing.
Heh...
Ings, you're not an anti-gun nutbag are you?
It's a tiresome story, made for soap opera news consumers.
Give me a kid with a bad attitude any day.
James, did he say, "I gave up an important funeral for this!" ?
I do not intend to trivialize this, but
here comes the trivialization
when I first heard a pressure pot was involved I felt an instant sympathy for pressure pots because they're existing with a bad rep to begin with.

When he's done maybe he can go back to jobs. Like he said he was going to 5 years ago.
Just kidding of course. He's doing exactly what he wants to be doing: demonizing Americans who disagree with him.
Next on the agenda, internet taxes.
I could care less if y'all have guns, Uzi 9MM, or whatever but nothing wrong with background checks.
Damn, what a big baby I am sometimes.
CEO-MMP @
I'd like to mention that people do run marathons for other people. ...
Excellent points.
People will climb mountains for their loved ones. In the face of hopelessness, a marathon gives people the feeling they have a little control.
I have no idea what the Red Sux are doing.
Tanking, eventually. (sorry)
I did my Peds rotation on a pediatric burn unit, it was the most difficult work I did in all my 30 plus years of nursing.
Inga said...

Yeah because standing there calling your political opponents murderers after you go down in defeat is totally like "kicking ass"
You're pretty fucking dumb. You know that, right?
Background checks already occur. The democrats are pushing for background checks that will lead to national gun registration.
That creeps people out.
Wow, some mean spirited stuff here. If you enjoy running run, if you don't don't. Just have the grace to not be an ass about it.
I think Aaron's holding one of those disgusting slugs they have in the Pacific Northwest.
No. Survival rule #1...cardio.
False choice. People do run, you know, 5K and thereabouts. Or walk. And it is just as good cardio as a marathon.
When runners go marathon crazy they turn into emaciated desiccated fucking zombies.
A model of the heart of a terrorist.
Banana slug, I bet.

I'm having a hard time understanding what's supposed to be so bad about doing something for yourself. What exactly is selfish about doing something challenging just for the satisfaction of accomplishing it?
When it becomes a religion, then maybe it's a problem. Otherwise, go for it and congratulations.
Hi Chip, good to see you. Missed you yesterday... I understand its snowing like crazy by you.
I've never seen a President look so small...

But living up to my handle, I just have to say:
Running a marathon is stupid. It's just plain stupid. Bag of hammers stupid.
The original Greek marathon runner, if the story is even true, only did so because he absolutely positively had no other choice open to him.
We now know the internal damage done to all parts of the legs, by running. Feels good when you are young, brutal consequences (that we all pay for in insurance premiums) later.
So why do people do it? Vanity? Bragging rights?
It certainly seems selfish. You don't run for someone else, do you?
The Tarahumara indians of Mexico run in ultramarathons of 100 miles without a problem. 26 milers are pussies.
Pogo you are one of the best.

It's been snowing non-stop for 2 days here wedged up against the rocky mountains of coloradie. I'm plum sick of it and on the verge of "self-murder". Maybe someone could mail me an envelope laced with ricin?

Lobsters?
Back when I was on chemo last year, a friend of mine ran Texas Ironman on my behalf. Had his trainer take a Sharpie and write my nickname on his ass, so I'd "be riding his ass all the way through Ironman." He then took a picture of his ass and posted it on Facebook. It was one of the greatest things anyone has ever done for me, IMHO.
Someone can kiss my ass. I know a lot of people who walk, run, ride for various causes, and raise money for those causes doing so. They're good people, and I love and respect the hell out out of them.
That is a good i-dear. I've been thinking lately of something like this lobster, not the regular thing.
Yea, I would have cropped that picture of the kid a little. It looks like something you might find after a knife fight on a leprechaun porn set.
Now if you get up and leave your backpack behind, as I often do, you're going to cause a panic.

=====================
Not true.
The Red Sox do a lot of charity.
Give them a dam minute will you?
This thing just happened.
What's the rush? do they have something to prove in your eyes?
Sorry I called you a liar.
Lem: Hey! How 'bout that.
Also, "eyes in the back of your head" used to be a pretty routine skill imparted, along with others so imparted. How quaint and faint is that, so to say.
Lem: TBC, my response was to your 7:39 eastern.
I know... the Google thing looks more and more plausible and titillating? the more I entertain it.
I'm also watching the game... Cleveland is coming back after the Sox led 5-0.. Sox lead now 5-3.
Oh, please no. Batting away a thought of a notion that I think would be a very bad idea indeed. Still, nothing to do but wait and see.
I can see Boston PD in a partnership with Google... bla bla bla...
In Google's eyes it would be turning a negative into a positive?
Although the fun part of the marketing could suffer... they would be extolling the spying? specter of the thing at the products infancy... at the expense of this.
Its supposed to be more than a camera.
Why run a marathon?
PS My avatar, that's me heading toward the finish at 3:56.
The only technological hurdle left that I can see possibly holding up the value of all surveillance all the time is storage.
Video takes up a lot of space... that means money.
Who has access to an endless supply of money?
The mind wanders.
False choice. People do run, you know, 5K and thereabouts. Or walk. And it is just as good cardio as a marathon.
Ah. Carol has no sense of irony. She will be among the first that are devoured when the ZA happens.
The mind wanders away from conspiracy theories and baseball games to what Althouse said up top of this tread.

Ceremony After A Fire Raid
I
Myselves
The grievers
Grieve
Among the street burned to tireless death
A child of a few hours
With its kneading mouth
Charred on the black breast of the grave
The mother dug, and its arms full of fires.
Begin
With singing
Sing
Darkness kindled back into beginning
When the caught tongue nodded blind,
A star was broken
Into the centuries of the child
Myselves grieve now, and miracles cannot atone.
Forgive
Us forgive
Us your death that myselves the believers
May hold it in a great flood
Till the blood shall spurt,
And the dust shall sing like a bird
As the grains blow, as your death grows, through our heart.
Crying
Your dying
Cry,
Child beyond cockcrow, by the fire-dwarfed
Street we chant the flying sea
In the body bereft.
Love is the last light spoken. Oh
Seed of sons in the loin of the black husk left.
II
I know not whether
Adam or Eve, the adorned holy bullock
Or the white ewe lamb
Or the chosen virgin
Laid in her snow
On the altar of London,
Was the first to die
In the cinder of the little skull,
O bride and bride groom
O Adam and Eve together
Lying in the lull
Under the sad breast of the head stone
White as the skeleton
Of the garden of Eden.
I know the legend
Of Adam and Eve is never for a second
Silent in my service
Over the dead infants
Over the one
Child who was priest and servants,
Word, singers, and tongue
In the cinder of the little skull,
Who was the serpent's
Night fall and the fruit like a sun,
Man and woman undone,
Beginning crumbled back to darkness
Bare as nurseries
Of the garden of wilderness.
III
Into the organpipes and steeples
Of the luminous cathedrals,
Into the weathercocks' molten mouths
Rippling in twelve-winded circles,
Into the dead clock burning the hour
Over the urn of sabbaths
Over the whirling ditch of daybreak
Over the sun's hovel and the slum of fire
And the golden pavements laid in requiems,
Into the bread in a wheatfield of flames,
Into the wine burning like brandy,
The masses of the sea
The masses of the sea under
The masses of the infant-bearing sea
Erupt, fountain, and enter to utter for ever
Glory glory glory
The sundering ultimate kingdom of genesis' thunder.
Dylan Thomas
