Rap Genius explains "Everything Rush Limbaugh Gets Wrong..."

"... about Beyonce."

Fine. I agree that he misunderstood the lyrics of the new song "Bow Down Bitches." (Limbaugh thought Beyonce was advising women to bow down to their men, but Beyonce was advising women to bow down to Beyonce.)

But you don't understand that he's only talking about Beyonce to get what he calls "low information voter" to pay attention to his show, which he explains here:
This Beyonce thing has just blown way out of proportion. Normally, I would let this go. It's pop culture, but, as you know, we're in the middle here of a vast outreach to low-information voters and this is right up their alley. It is a golden opportunity here.  You're just gonna have to trust me on this. Stick with me on this. I'll try to get through this as quickly as we can. It isn't health care. It's not Obamacare.  We're not going to be talking about any of that. We're talking about what low-information voters are talking about today....
The Drive-Bys do not like me venturing outside of my own area of expertise.... They are not going to allow me into pop culture. They are not going to allow me access to low-information voters. They are afraid of that. So there are all kinds of efforts out now to discredit me on this Beyonce story which, between you and me, I could give a rip. But it's all part of the low-information outreach.
This "low-information outreach" has been going on for months.  Here's the place, in yesterday's show, where Rush throws out another huge chunk of bait for people who don't much care about important economic and political issues but will, like Rap Genius, engage over the right pop culture tidbit. In this new bait, Limbaugh claims that — via some old parody song — he's "The Father of 'Chop and Screw.'"

Is Rap Genius going to write another long column in Esquire explaining, in words and pictures, how Rush Limbaugh is actually not the Father of Chop and Screw? That would be taking Rush's bait, but it's probably also in Rap Genius and Esquire's interest to publicly heartily chomp on this bait. Everybody can win, I say, as I link to both Rush and Rap Genuis/Esquire, who presumably want, more than anything else, traffic.

Low information voter...

Is that a euphemism for "has a life" or "doesn't spend all their time on the web obsessing about politics?"

I get about 200 graphic propaganda blasts manufactured by various FB groups a day. Whole mess of people out there devoting all their time to that shit.

I gotta work on my blues harp licks. So, I'm keeping my info low.

Illini advance to second round! Low Fo Info is that Brandon Paul and DJ Richardson are planning to get gay married. Just a rumor. Maybe the Old Dawgz can play the wedding!

All I can say is Google the words Limbaugh and Beyonce. There are a lot of people engaged in chewing over that one.

Every time I get tired of
Limbaugh's over the top exagerating, he dies something that brilliant that proves he"s more than 6 steps ahead of the Democrat liberal Self Righteous Haters who fashion themselves as so smart.
And then those same people just have to react, making .rush look so much smarter to everyone. He wins again.

The man is Nobel Prize Scientist smart.

Not every voter for Obama was a low informtaion voter.

But every low information voter voted for Obama.

And the start of being able to find less and less people who will tell you they voted for Obama has begun.

Rush is used to dealing with intelligent people.

No, it's a euphemism for "too stupid to see the truth in front of them".

Don't put money on that.

Rush knows the right baits for trolling for trolls, and he does love catching them.

I lost interest in popular music around the time of disco. In the inevitable deterioration of hipness, taste in music is always the first to go.... I suppose every generation has about the same distribution of talent and shoddy, and Beyonce is probably on the brighter side of the spectrum. But, for all that, one can't imagine Ella Fitzgerald ever voicing such a statement. She may have thought it, but it's not the kind of sentiment that causes one to burst into song. The WWF pervades everything.

When the Repubs are in, they are elected by "morons." When the Dems are in, they are elected by "low information voters."

Ain't civility great!?

The four most popular singers of the 20th century were Al Jolson, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, and Elvis Presley. Sinatra is the only one who doesn't sound dated....Beyonce has a big voice, but the voice calls attention to itself and not to the music. I'm absolutey unqualified to pass judgement on Beyonce, but the guess here is that the next generation will find her mannerisms quaint.

Duh. Now I get it. Rush was discussing Beyonce as a low information Beyonce voter. His knowledge and opinions of Beyonce were akin to Beyonce's knowledge and opinions on the Keystone pipeline, which is to say they are not to be trusted.

Even though Beyonce SAYS she meant this to be about women bowing to women, it means nothing. The text - any text - is interpreted by the audience. It's out there for critical thought. Authorial intention can't guide us today any more than it guides us as we read Shakespeare today.

I read this song to be nothing more than the wonderful Kate's speech (the one that drives feminists crazy and causes them to ban this play) at the end of "Taming of the Shrew".

It's HOW he misread it. Women at large have suspected that he's a creepy, old fat man and he revealed himself to be a creepy, old fat man by the way he gloated over something imaginary that he got totally wrong - that the pop goddess Beyonce, "strong black woman", had turned and now wanted women to bow down to their men because she sees it's worth it now that she's married.

Which of course, is not what she said. She was reasserting her own dominance on the scene. Bow down to her. But I could feel the creepy old rich fat man married to someone about Beyonce's age getting sweaty about it from here. Not that far from the Sandra Fluke situation. Hmm. I'm sensing a creepy, old, masturbating fat guy Viagra motif.

Horrifying to contemplate. Well, it did one thing; I no longer think it was so mean on Beyonce's part - not when you have creepy old fat men fetishizing Beyonce's submission running about talking to their idiot fans on the radio. And in Ann's case, a subgroup of ppl who think it's "fair and balanced" to give the old guy a chance because of the swath of population he represents. Yeah, maybe it used to be - about a quarter of a century ago. But not now. Not anymore.

Personally, I think if Rush had made it in music radio, as he originally wished, he'd be a fat, old queen drama geek a la Elton John, and much happier. Then he would have had to live as a fraud. I feel sorry for him on that level.

As we have seen in the case of Phil Spector the wish for musical dominance soon metatasises into a wish for world dominance. I just hope that this wish doesn't devolve into a murder plot against Justin Bieber. I'm sure that when she said "Bow down bitches" that's the bitch she was referring to. --The Bieber-Beyonce contest has the marks of a great epic struggle such as that between Hector and Achilles and Lincoln and Douglas. I just hope that it is fought out with keyboards and dance moves and not Glocks and drive-bys. I would be very disappointed in both of them if this contest took a violent turn......Our first experience of music and rhythm comes from the murmur of our mother's heart when we're in the womb. Music should express our yearning to return to that peaceful state. I hope they both find a way to resolve their differences. I think it would be just great if Beyonce left her husband and moved in with Bieber. This would cause a quantum leap in harmony and peace for, not just music lovers, but for all of us.

What is funny is that Rush was actually talking about a UK paper's take on B, and they are the only ones NOT getting any traffic.

I'm pretty sure Rush is very happy living his "fraudulent" life. The more everyone speculates about it the more money he takes to the bank. Many old fat guys masturbating in the dark, whether gay or straight, might find themselves discussing him enviously.

Tim is absolutely correct. Rush never held this interpretation out as his own. And he correctly predicted that the MSM would both claim he thought it up and that he was wrong.

For someone who uses extensive quotes and gloats over NYT corrections, you seem to lose your ability to be accurate regarding Limbaugh, Prof.
