According to David Blaska.

By mentioning Althouse first, Blaska proves right out of the gate that he knows what he's talking about.

Oh, really?

Sykes stopped blogging about a year ago, except for flogblogging his new book.

Althouse is a first rate blogger. But "conservative"? Not so much.

So do you protest the conservative label? As strongly as you would have two years ago? A curious reader wishes to know.

Outed! Just deny, deny, deny. You have a voting record to back it up.

This is libelous!

A beauty contest won by a beauty with a beautiful mind.

Of course we Conservatives claim you to raise our status. I hope that won't hurt your reputation too much.

I don't think that word means what he thinks it means.

Our hostess may not be conservative, but the slant of her blog sure is.

NTTAWWT, of course. It seems to be a profitable venture...

In recognition please make a paypal contribution or buy some Althouse "stuff" ... but only if you're from WI.

I made two largish book orders through Ann's Amazon portal, I would have done it in your name if that were possible.

Feh. Muddled cheesehead logic construes cruel neutrality as conservatism.

hmmmm a very convenient poll I must say. But then again one must earn money off blogging or there just is no point to it...

wie schade.

If professor Althouse were a conservative, when Obama campaigned on "fundamentally transforming the United States of America"...to my mind, she would have been... at least curious... amused?... beyond the scholarly sageous "hope and change" that were spouted out.

Thats more my beef, along with some of commenters here.. because my impression is Althouse dosent vote along party line nor along her liberal ideological line.

Her vote for Walker proves that.

Which is what Blaska was mostly influenced by when calling Althouse "conservative".

But, truly, imho, a republican-no- matter-what vote does not necessarily make one a conservative.

A conservative is a person who conserves. Conserves the things that are worth conserving. Do you understand that? If Ann were conservative, now follow the logic here, then she would show a little bit of concern for hummingbirds of Wisconsin. She shows none. No concern at all for hummingbird conservation, not even this -->||<-- much, the space between those lines. She mentioned hummingbirds, yes, but that's only because I asked her and she noted tersely that they're mean little bastards.

Fundamentally transforming the United States of America.. a socialist dog whistle... if I ever heard one.

I'm going ahead and stipulate... not all dog whistles are republicans.

Conservative? Hmmm, I would say more of a classical liberal (i.e. open mind and discerning). Hence, when faced with the extremes in the current administration or elsewhere she tends to the center with brilliant analysis.

One other thing that is interesting here is the blogs consideration of very out of the envelope issues which others ignore.

SheShe voted for Obama.
I'm still trying to reconcile that with Althouse is a conservative, or even a classic liberal.

Personally I think she likes to throw a cigarette in the monkey cage and watch the monkeys fight for it and then dangle the lighter in front of them.

Althouse achieves a clarity in her writing that is sorely lacking in today's discourse. I always retire from her site better for the experience. Meade has a power of his own and the sum of the two are as good as the combination. Keep up the good work.

To be called a classic liberal isn't a slur, since today's progressives do no appear to think for themselves, but rather follow the herd without any thought of how the positions they espouse will hurt this country and its ability to provide opportunity for all.
