A Bush and a Paul will speak at the Republican National Convention.

Jeb and Rand.

This is probably the closest Jeb will ever get to being POTUS (just as well), but Senator Paul is one of the bright lights of the party.

Him, I want to hear.

That's a mighty big tent there.

Jeb is auditioning for 2016 for a political career like dear old dad . And Paul is throwing his weight around for a political career like dear old dad.

There is nothing new under the sun.

They should have George P.

Good to see that Paul is going to speak.

Hopefully his speech will be his acceptance of the VP slot.

Or, even better, Paul Sr's acceptance of the Presidential slot. (Well I can dream, can't I?)

Absent some miracle like that occurring, I am going to hold my nose and support Obama.

Bad as it will be, we can survive 4 more years of Obama, especially if we can get a large number of Tea Party supporters into the House and Senate.

I don't see how we can survive Romney.

Romney is everything that Obama is plus competence. He will do most everything that Obama wants to do except he will be able to get it done.

If he gets in we are so screwed.

A Liberal in sheep's-clothing and a hypocrite "Constitutionalist" allowing the Usurpation of the presidency. Great!! BOTH sides are criminals.

I'm really happy to see Rand Paul with a speaking slot. He has all of his dad's positives and none of his negatives -- he's by far the best shot we have at having a small-government President within the next twenty years.

That sounds positively Biblical.

Yawn.

Call me when this thing sounds like it's conservative instead of cautious,...

What else is on that night?

Carnifex said...

Pay atention to Rand. He's a keeper. If he doesn't go all senile like his dad.

@John

Romney wasn't and isn't my first pick, but he's the only pick in this 2 horse race. Zero will just by-pass congress and do everything by fiat. Sorta like he's doing now.

And how much has the congress and the SCOTUS reined him in? They haven't. Because their chickenshit. As long as the RINO's control the party, we're not gonna get any drawback of the Imperil Dictator.

Compare this to whom the Democrat Party choose to give a prime time speech at the Democratic National Convention on the theme "unique insights about President Obama as a global leader"?

Ron Paul is to libertarianism what televangelists are to Christianity.

I am less surprised by Carter speaking than I am by how he is speaking.

He is a former president, I would think that no matter how bad he was, it still looks good for Obama to get his endorsement.

But he can't even be bothered to show up at the convention to speak in person? What, is he washing his hair that night?

Pelosi told other demmies that they didn't have to come, that they could use the excuse of campaigning to hide out.

But Carter? What is his excuse?

Hell yeah Jimmah endorses Zero. Zero makes Carter look like G.Washington, A. lincoln, and R.Reagan combined. He's no longer the worst president ever! The torch has been passed!

Fear that the DNC may again seat him next to Michael Moore.

Prof., you have me visiting Reddit, which led me to an NPR story about edits on Wikipedia pages giving advanced notice of important political announcements. For now, it looks like Romney has not yet chosen his VP.

The only way Romney stands a chance is if voters forget about the 8 years of the Bush 43 administration. Good idea to keep him away from the convention.

Senator Paul is one of the bright lights of the party.

I suspect he doomed his chances with his extreme anti-abortion stance.

Keep an eye on George P. He is a "natural."

According to Gallup, 9% of Zero voters will switch to the Romster and another 5% are still trying to decide.

The only way Choom stands a chance is if voters forget about the 4 years of his administration.

Yeah, it really hurt Reagan and both Bushes.

Andy, we all understand that you see the world through your gay lens. It's ok, we all know it's true.

What happens, when science can detect if your kid will be gay? Don't you think many, if not most people, will abort those children?

Won't that be great? Because, choice.

The political distance between Bush and Paul is indicative of the tensions within the Republican Party, a sign of health. You want death-in-life lockstep sameness? Look to the Democrats.

Chip Ahoy said...

I hope Jeb Bush fails.

At everything he tries in politics. I hold a Gore Vidal attitude toward him. It pains me to see him succeed at anything. I hope he is rejected by name alone. I think we're seeing the Republican Party viewed generally as useless and so being forcefully changed into something much less compromising and much more rigid. Jeb Bush is atavistic to the changes happening in his own party. 2010 told, 2012 will tell. It's like the rug snapped under him and he's the guy spinning, I hope he goes 'thud'. Plus political families are just flat creepy and it's up to us to prevent them, nice as those people seem. One per family then everybody else is out.

A tea party mailer yesterday was a little history lesson about the Whig party becoming obsolete following Taylor and Fillmore, the point where Whigs were replaced by Republicans with Lincoln as president. The tea party writer equated Romney with Taylor (died) and Fillmore, and the present day Republican party as Whigs of mid 1850. That was a fun little mailer about American history. It's like those guys are studying history and constitution or something.

George P is sort of like Caroline Kennedy....dynastic royalty the Base loves to have give speeches...but as of yet...no substantive accomplishments.

I think he is a good-looking guy of mixed Anglo and Hispanic heritage and has the dynastic connections and all..but he should wait until he has actually done something. As should the the Republican Base.

@AndyR

So wanting babies to live is an extremist view? Nice to know I'm an extremist.

Got a hypothetical for you Andy. Lots of gay people claim they have no choice...genetically, they are gay. If this is true, and they do isolate a gay gene, invent a test for it, in the womb, like a lot of "diseases" today, would you support the mothers choice to abort gay babies? Even though since most mothers are straight, and will want their kids to be straight. And hence, a precipitous drop in the number of gay people in the world? Mind you some will still carry a gay baby to full term, but do you really see that being normal?

And if there is no "gay gene", does that make it after all a choice? So not subject to civil right law? Which would be worse for the gay community? Why are gay organizations trying to quash research into this area?

I am honestly hoping for your response, because I see a future where this is a possibility.

@Madman

I think most of the country would rather had a different man than Bush also. Unfortunately, the guys the Dem.s threw up were even worse. You don't have to out run the bear, just the other guy.

LOL good one.

Carnifex 3:54, I think I said that 2 hours earlier, but perhaps you were more eloquent.

However, since this is the Internet, I do want snark credit for "Because, choice."

TW: 18 stabotec

Surely that relates to abortion, somehow.

Carnifex said...re Andy Capp.

Andy Capp is very, very young. Even more so in the maturity of his logic than years. His positions are taken whole cloth from sites like Mother Jones. There's no independent thought for whether they are consistent, based on actual facts, or what the implications are. He sees, reads, infers, accuses, and passes judgment based on his filters. I doubt those filters will ever clear.

Casually applying the real world experience that most commenters here have, or even applying common sense, to Andy's claims and proclamations reveals them to be a mile wide and and inch deep. There's no depth.

Given that, Andy isn't likely nor probably even capable of following the trail you laid out for him.

You clearly laid out the contradictions for Andy's consideration between his positions on abortion and his desire for the courts to treat gays as a minority whose civil rights are being violated. If he doesn't return, I can give you the distillation of what his answer will or would be.

You are just another anti-gay bigot.

I want Jeb to speak at both conventions, just so we'll find out which one delivers the most boos.

"Bush" is synonymous with "half-measure" to a lot of folks out there.

Hey, the Captcha phrase has a legible font! That must be a sign of the Mayan Apocalypse.

Nichevo said...

Well after what you did to Lincoln on that other thread I don't want no trouble. Copy away.

BTW, oh, I know why you're testy...how's that hernia coming along? Hope you made enough scratch dicking around with your relative's corn to pay the doctor bills! Poor bugger, how'd you get dragged into that anyway?

Jeb Bush
Rand Paul
Mary Fallin

You know they'll be adding Marco Rubio. The convention is in Florida, and they've got 3 speakers from Florida already (Bush, Scott and Bondi).
