"I think if you ask most voters today, everybody knew what was at stake. Everybody knew where I was, they knew what the mayor offered. There was no confusion. One of the positive things I looked at, this was one of those few elections where it wasn't based on some goofy sidebar issue. It wasn't based on some personality issue. It was fundamentally, here's where this side stands, here's where that side stands. Who do you pick?"
Lots more here, including the fact that Scott Walker has got a lot of yard work and painting around the house to catch up with.

I guess when you are the party that has a huge structural money advantage you can afford to say that money doesn't matter.
If you believe that most people were irritated with the recall, then more Dem money=advertising could easily have led to more irritation.

Yep! The people of WI are such a slack-jawed bunch of fools that they can easily be snookered by lots of slick commercials. Excepting you, being more perspicacious and intelligent and all..........
Jay Retread ignores reality and clings to illusion.
Prediction-Obama is going to be the last Democrat who will come anywhere close to being competitive money wise. You will see Republicans dominating the Democrats over the next several decades through the power of money and tactics like voter surpression.
Progressives are in a box under the emerging system where cash is king. If Democrats don't try to be competitive in raising campaign cash they will lose. If they do they will be beholden to the same narrow monied interest as the Republicans.
I predict that many progressives are going to retreat from the electoral system that is stacked against them and focus their energies elsewhere. I further predict our system is going to suffer from a further erosion of popular confidence as it becomes more clear that only the wealthiest really have much of an imPact.
Scott Walker has been magnificent staying on message and staying out of the gutter where the Dems/Union bosses wanted to do the fighting.
That took a strong mind. a strong faith, and long training in diplomacy under fire.
My congratulations to Wisconsin for following a good leader.

Ignorance isn't the virtue you think it is.
Educate yourself.
You'll be surprised by what you learn.
So Walker and company spent all those millions and got what? One percent more of the vote than they got in 2010? Pretty expensive for a percent or two. Walker is probably correct that the money didn't make much difference. Looks to me like those percentages were in place before the recall was launched.
"...and tactics like voter surpression (sic)."
Really?
How so?
I forget, how much did Scott Walker raise at that party at George Clooney's house?
Sorry about the typos, I am typing on my smart phone.
Equilibrating the cost of government with the taxpayers' willingness to pay requires significant reductions in spending; at the state level, the most sensible one is reducing pay and benefits for the less productive (i.e., they do not actually create wealth; rather, they consume it) public employee unions to a level comparable to the more productive (i.e., they actually create wealth, rather than consume it) private sector employees.
Walker's step in Wisconsin is an obvious one; regardless, he still earns big points for taking on the political fight against the leaching classes.
I predict that many progressives are going to retreat from the electoral system that is stacked against them and focus their energies elsewhere.
Please God let it be so.

Like 0 who out spent 3 to 1 against McCain and all he got was 5 point spread during a perfect storm. 0 and company attended multiple fundraisers yet didn't raise a dime for Barrett. Maybe he knows a loser when he sees one. If one factors in the union GOTV value money wise both sides spent roughly the same.

Could you for once in your lives make an effort to pick up some of your trash before you go? Thank you!
I wonder ow much more money Democrats would have handed out to GM and Chrysler if they had been beholden to narrow monied interests.

Glen, while you are asking them for the impossible, you might as well ask for them to please pay more in taxes than they consume, too.
Thank you.
They seem like very nice people. In all that I've read about the recall over the past year, I haven't really read much about THEM, as people, as a family. I found it heartwarming.
"Sorry about the typos, I am typing on my smart phone."
Sounds like a compatibility issue.
Democrats and their liberal-progressive compadres only complain about financial campaign inequality when they are on the short end.
Republicans have traditionally had more small donations than the Democrats. Yes, the Democrats have traditionally received more donations above $1000 than Republicans. Big money, bah.
I recall the Chicago Bears won the National Football League Championship Game by a score of 73-0 over the Washington Redskins. Story is the Redskins had a sure touchdown pass fall incomplete when it hit the goal post on the goal line. Somebody asked a Redskins player about that, and his comment was that that touch down would have made the game 73-7. The Dems were doomed to lose this recall. They made sure of that with their protesting nonsense last winter.
It's a bitch when the other side wins on the issues and your demagoguery just doesn't cut it anymore.

And I thought it was Zero that was supposed to have the billion dollar war chest that would blow the Romster away.
Funny what happens when you make war on the people who bankrolled your last campaign.
And, yes, I think Retread wants a little more cheese with his whine.
"I recall the Chicago Bears won the National Football League Championship Game by a score of 73-0 over the Washington Redskins. "
Was that the game where they used tennis shoes in the second half ? Or was that the Browns game that Otto Graham played ?
"through the power of money and tactics like voter surpression."
You mean illegal voters and multiple voting , don't you ? Milwaukee is one of the few cities where vote fraud has actually been prosecuted. Loretta Sanchez (not her married name) was elected by 450 votes by illegals in Orange County CA about 10 years ago.
There is no whine. Just a recognition of reality.
Edutcher wrote about Obama "Funny what happens when you make war on the people who bankrolled your last campaign."
Thank you for making my point.
Jay Retread: I guess when you are the party that has a huge structural money advantage you can afford to say that money doesn't matter.
That's already been debunked. When you add in money from Democrat interest groups and unions, Walker actually had LESS money than Barrett.
Steve Koch: ...Once gov workers had free choice about whether or not they wanted to join the gov unions, they left the unions in droves. Walker's reform was right morally and financially which is why Walker did so well in the recall election.
It is true that Walker has deeply wounded the union movement and that his leadership is likely to lead to similar reforms all over the country. Indiana did away with compulsory confiscation of gov workers' wages to pay union dues several years ago. Since then, Indiana gov unions have lost 90% of their members!
The Emancipation Act of 2012
Thank you Gov Walker!

No, Retread's not paying attention.
Walker had the issues on his side. The money is just an excuse to ignore that. Barrett was short for the reason of the Wall Street bankers, but that wouldn't have saved him if it weren't the case.
That's why Retread's whining about money.
Twenty one million spent by the unions. And that's the reportable money. So we know how much it cost to house and feed a couple of thousand activists on the ground here for a couple months?
Lets call the spending between Walker and the left-complex even.
Now lets talk about the millions in in-kind donations from Newsrooms and TV News studios where the workers all belong to the Communications Workers of America.
http://www.cwa-union.org/sites/cwapublic/index.php/news/entry/cwas_statement_on_the_wisconsin_recall_election
That's why all the pictures and tapes of Walker looked goofy.
Oh, but only one on-air personality in Milwaukee signed the petition.
So your crying about big money? Its big BS.
No kidding. What's the monetary value of having the whores at CNN and the NYTs censor, smear and fluff for your campaign?
Maureen? You there?
Jay Retread,

If your phone thought it was getting a smart owner, it was mistaken too.
