"I’m not going to be a stereotype of the mean judge. I’m relying on straight talk."

"They’re not going to be stars, and it requires somebody to say that to them. Some people get up and sing. I say to them: 'Look, you are dull, and you’re not fun to look at. I went on radio because I wasn’t fun to look at.'"

Isn't his some sort of a sleaze broadcast?

How is he enriching the lives of others through his 'message?'

That last sentence has been the key to Stern's longevity. He learned to temper his shock-jock arrogance and meanness by turning it back on himself with self deprecating humor.

I don't like Howard Stern. I've never listened to his show. I don't like America's Got Talent or any other of the talent reality shows. I used to watch American Idol. My family still watches AI as well as AGT.
Yet, there is something about Howard Stern that is admirable. Maybe it's simply that he is exactly what he is. It might be integrity. He has a completely different set of values from mine, but he lives within them and is very open about his success as well as his failures.
When we see people like Howard Stern, Simon Cowell, Rush Limbaugh, Ronald Reagan, Harry Truman, even Lyndon Johnson we recognize some quality in them that is appealing. They aren't easy people, but they cut through the bull shit and we respect that. At least I do.
My dad was like that. I knew he loved me unconditionally, but he could devastate me simply by saying "I'm disappointed in you."

The title of the post had me there for a moment - I'm overdosed on the "gay marriage" topic.

Talk about a War on Women, Howard Stern perfected that how to do that. And his audience loves him for it.

Women must really be frightening.
