Not exactly what the Prime Minister of Israel said to Obama yesterday.. but this bit "we are you and you are us" reminded me of a press conference another allied prime minister held with another president of ours.. where that prime minister quoted from the old testaments Ruth 1:16.
"Don't urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.
While searching for a video of that press conference (I cant find any) I came across this bit about how Blair was closer to Bush than to Clinton.. it sort of sheds light on the meaning of a public show of support between two heads of state.
Now, on account of (despite?) having expanding rescue instincts, one of our dogs has a strong pug thread to and within her--and you can see it, physically--but that is all. The other is not a pug in any way, shape or form, but he quite brazenly does have some of the same spirit that our earliest shared pugs, from 20 years ago, did, bless 'im and 'em.
Pbj, heaven is other people's dogs. Except for that one dog two houses down and one house over whose human lets him out every morning at 5 so he can BARK BARK BARK me awake.
All the other dogs in the neighborhood - Joey, Bingo, Max, Elvis, Jasper - are my pals. Mainly because they've done an adequate job of training their humans.
Gotta love Drudge's juxtaposition of pictures this morning.... Mitt looking all glorious, carrying the torch for the republicans while a young stock trader looks up in awe at him. Below, Obama and Kucinich exchanging pleasantries. Will Obama follow Kucinich in losing the next election?
I'm simply applying the same standards your side did to the 2000-2008 White House occupant.
I must admit, President Bush was a disappointment to many of us who supported him, both Republicans and fiercely independent voters like myself and the Professor.
One reason for disappointment was that President Bush promised to use his influence to keep gasoline prices low. Remember that he promised that, if elected, he would "jawbone" OPEC members by calling them and saying "we expect you to open your spigots." And gasoline prices went up and up and up anyway. :(
I can't imagine not having a dog. It would seem like something very basic is missing. The human - dog relationship is an amazing and unique thing. To connect at that level with another species that is so different from us is pretty cool. Generally both benefit greatly from it. That alone is a damn good reason to have one.
That said, you should definitely not get one if you don't really want one, but I see it all the time where some of the most dedicated owners start out ambivalent.
I really good way to get the best of both worlds is to foster a rescue dog. You still get all the benefits, yet it's temporary, and you are saving an innocent, loving and loyal creature's life, and not just figuratively.

I'm probably totally wrong, but I keep thinking that Meade would like a dog, but Meaniehouse won't play ball.
Maybe Garage could point Meadehosue toward a nice Lab.
Thumb alert.
Yeah, OK, but what do you think about pug-blends?
... you're so adorable.

BTW Notice how Obama reacted to the Prime Minister when he reminded him of the names the Iranian have for us.
It was not teleprompted.. it was a genuine body language reaction.
(I miss all of our pugs, dog rest their souls.)

I just recently found and adopted out a pug. Great personality: playful and courageous little guys.
Here is a photo of my current pack of rescue adoptables:
The Pack
That's a great lineup of doggies, Bags. Thanks for the photo.
I love brachycephalic dogs.
Pugs used to be called mops.
Which one is AA calling "adorable"?
I think she's starting to crumble a little.
Best dog ever.
Althouse, get a dog!
Pbj, heaven is other people's dogs.
This is how I feel about dogs. I love other people's dogs. No desire to own one myself.
Pugly.
Which one is AA calling "adorable"?
Was wondering if it was AA to pug, pug to Meade, Meade to pug or some combination.....
@bag, wonderful looking pups. Pray loving adopters come forward.
BARK BARK BARK me awake.
Do you pay for this service or is it provided free of charge?
You are SOOOOO getting a dog!

Paid $4.01 for regular unleaded today.
Heckuva job Barry. This will do wonders for the economy.
Maybe if I wore a fetching bandana, I too would be adorable.
*sigh*
Not likely. It would make me even more like a Diane Arbus freak than now.
Great pug, isn't he though?
Speaking of adorable pugs,...

Yet another person who doesn't understand how markets work. :(
We need to encourage brighter people to join us in the GOP.

"Yet another person who doesn't understand how markets work."
Surely you ar referring to King Barry the First.
Everything he touches turns to mold.

Another broken promise. :(
"Obama 2012 - he's not as bad as Bush on some stuff, prolley."

I love how Meade is always quick to play with dogs.
That's a good sign of a good man. Minus a few digits perhaps but still a good guy.
Not saying that just because I always do it.
Well, okay, maybe in part.
It's a Repuglican!

All are wrong!
