At the General Strike Café...

... perhaps (purr-haps) you have a solution for everything.

Looks like nose art from a Navy Black Cat Squadron.

They flew night reconnaissance, rescue and bombing missions over the Pacific.

@tradguy: yep, in PBY catalinas.

althouse, what's up with the new comments format? kinda bright :(

I'm just seeing this for the first time. They still haven't given us buttons so we don't have to type out the HTML tags.

It's the new, cleaner design. I'm glad to see the simplification, even though it's hard to deal with the new!

Did the capchas get easier? (I don't see them, because I've got special access to my own blog.)

"Don't be evil."

"Please prove you're not a robot."

As I look at this latest travesty of a "Post a Comment" screen, I say to myself...

GOOGLE/BLOGGER... please prove you are not evil.

We've gone from bitchy to catty?

FWIW I think they still have a couple of Javascript glitches.

In any case, I had little trouble with the captchas before and no increase or decrease in difficulty now.

edutcher said...

Well, that was weird.

Ann, if you or Meade can go in as a regular user and play with the comments interface, particularly with a long comment, you'll see what's going on.

Some very strange word wrapping.

The capchas must be affected by Global Warming.

They are easy for a while and then then get difficult. Since there is no reason for that, no one can prove that it is not another CO2 effect.

It does look like it's under repair. The comment box has locked-up a few times already and had to refresh. PREVIEWS are not being displayed, which for a while now you couldn't PUBLISHed directly after PREVIEW.

You'd think a company like this would have their shit together?

Whateverrr.

So what's the deal with Obama announcing "African Americans for Obama"?

Drudge had it for a day, with video. I thought it was kinda creepy and divisive, but it seems to have gone largely unnoticed, or accepted as normal stuff.

If I had more money I would form Rich White Guys for Romney.

Alas.

I had to increase my font size to 150%..

The new format is just too small.

Lem, it may be how your browser handles Javascript.

Stress "may".

Gallup has his approval among blacks at 79. And Remember that poll last fall where it was at 58?

Yeah, inflation is killing the inner city and he's sinking by the bow.

This stuff usually gets caught in alpha or beta testing, but I'll bet they're just doing IE.

The new robot fighting words are stupidly hard to decipher. As they say on SNL: What's Up With That?" Took several tries to get this last comment through.

Ann: Consider enabling Blogspot's "Flipcard" - which makes older posts much more accessible and the blog more user-friendly.

i find the captchas easier now without that awful blob thing.

as to the format, if you are on the althouse blog and click the comments link, the comments themselves are in a colum pushed over to the far left. the captcha box and the comment instructions are in a column just to the right of the comments.

at least 60% of my screen is empty, and the white background makes everything too bright.

i checked with both firefox 10.1 (which i use) and internet exploder (which i loathe).

Carnifex said...

Same with Google Chrome. This is giving me a headache, what with the high contrast.(tried adjusting brightness, it helped a little)

I was wondering, any of you law boffins have a solution for the atheist in Pennsylvania that muslim judge screwed over?(no embellishment, judge admitted he was a muslim) His case was dismissed, and the judge told him he basically didn't have the right to mock Saint Mohammed.(judge held up his personal copy of the Koran while reading his decision)

The travesty of this judge sitting on a judicial bench should make all Americans ill.

Couldn't Blogger at least center this comments layout? It looks like everything tripped and fell over.

Here's how I deal with you presently. I shrink the window you are in by making you skinny. Now you are all one tall skinny column. What was to the right of you, the whole long bit about leaving a comment and why things are done the way they are, the comment box itself in which I am writing now, and the CAPTCHA all cooperatively slipped to the very bottom. So now the whole rest of the desktop is open for other things, but honestly, who would want other things opened when youz guyz here all collected right here?

Okay, now say something.

*waits*

* opens another window *

Close the damn window! You're letting the heat out!
This ain't Florida.

But what I wanted to say before you distracted me was I am confused by the photo featured at the top of Drudge where Gingrich is pictured at a lectern or a judge stand or something that appears to me a cheap wooden stage prop as if making an appearance at a puppet show with an eagle Muppet in the center foreground but out of focus. It's very odd.

Here is the case carnifex is talking about.

He has a couple of legal options. He can sue the guy for assault in civil court. (He filed a criminal complaint).

The other thing he can do is bring a lawsuit in federal court, as his rights as a U.S. citizen have been violated in state court.

Here's the website of the judge who's bringing sharia to Pennsylvania, with contact information.

That "Muslim Judge" is saying that he is actually Lutheran...seems that a lot of other facts about him and that case got twisted around. Read his response here: http://tinyurl.com/7k5tez5

Tiny type, annoying font, bad contrast--yuck.

A little Sharia in the hands of a Quaker Lutheran never hurt anyone.

I only get 2-3 comments on the screen. This is HARD to read. (Tried changing font size. Didn't do anything.)

I can change the font size on other websites, but not here.
