Media Matters makes a montage of the Glenn Beck show.

Media Matters hates Glenn Beck, but this montage is pretty damned entertaining, perhaps because the Fox News channel show is ending. Tonight is the last installment:
An advertising boycott that began after Beck said Obama had a “deep-seated hatred for white people” led to more than 400 advertisers telling Fox they didn’t want their commercials seen on his show.

Fox and Beck headed for a divorce, their relationship largely soured by control issues. Beck has set up his own diversified business, as he makes speeches, writes books and owns a website along with GBTV, which is run by a former Fox executive.
That Media Matters montage made me...
... think about why I love Glenn Beck.
... wish I'd paid more attention to what might have been a great show.
... think about why I hate Glenn Beck.
... realize that man needed to be exiled to the internet.

That Beck is such a nut, thinking a guy who went to Jeremiah Wright's Trinity Church for 20 years might have some kind of "issues" with white people.

It's crazy talk, crazy talk I tell you.

I used to watch Glenn; I actually liked his Headline News show more than the Fox one.

The darker the set became, the easier it was to take the show off my TiVo's to-do list. And the creepier / more insular it started to look, as someone who was no longer watching on a daily basis.

It's the only afternoon/evening news-analysis show that I can think of that seemingly looked less professional the longer it was on the air. (Morning news is different, since they have to do so many wacky things intended to make you forget you're watching a news program.)

Bingo. I have no opinion at all on Glenn Beck. However, if he makes Media Matters beclown itself on a regular basis, then I LOVE GLENN BECK.

Beck had an excellent show going until that "Restoring Honor" rally in D.C. then he got all religious and preachy. I don't think any so-called boycott affected the show.

I only watched his show a couple of times. Not my cup of tea. It should be noted that the left made a great deal about his promulgation of gold. Further, it should be noted that you would have done better listening to his recommendations than to those of Jim Cramer.

Dying industry. Because it's getting to be harder and harder to get people to sit down to watch TV.

Similar to politics & hollyood.

For in the beginning of hollywood's successful run, the moguls didn't waste time on those who weren't stars. And, stars attracted audiences. Who paid money.

Then? Since hollywood now plays with other people's money. And, profits for investors are slim. We see less than stellar stars.

Business continues sliding downhill.

While over in the GOP column, you've got to be head scratching at how McCain got nominated in 2008. How both Boehner and McConnell sailed into leadership roles in 2010. (By ignoring the Tea Party! By actually trying to whack the Tea Party People to death.)

While elections also got lost for no rational explanation. How did Meg Whitman get to run for governor of CA? Did she just open her pocketbook and flash money?

How did the nut job get to the top of the ticket in New York? Why wasn't giving Cuomo's son a race?

Because more often than not ... with success ... brings nepotism. And, the slots that get filled get filled with village idiots.

When will we fix what's broken within our political system?

When enough rich dames lose ... and get tired of running as GOP candidates? Perhaps then.

Or if a Tea Party emerges that has candidates ... that people prefer? And, then the "get out the vote" machine will transfer from political fakers to the rest of the country?

Oy.

I listened to Glenn Beck's show occassionally, before it ever was televised. More often, because he was previously a local talent, I listened to his cohort Pat Gray. The latter was much better when he did near straight laced editorials/commentary. When he tried to be funny, he came off looking like an idiot. And so, when he took the job was his old friend Glenn; the pair really became unbareable as they fed on each other to be funny.

SunnyJ said...

Beck provided a platform, impeccable research using "their own words" and the courage to invite the left's ridicule response so, viewers could see the tactics he was describing in action.

Agree with his positions or personality or not, Beck kicked some serious Progressive butt in revealing the inner workings. Agreed, the Joel Rogers-UW links were amazing. It is also important to note that no one, not one person that liked to call him crazy ever sued or managed to make him retract what he presented. And that was non-stop presented, hammering them all every day on the most watched 5PM program.

I notice that you mention the 400 advertising sponsors as though that is a confirmed reason he is leaving FOX. Yet, you don't mention that it was started by Van Jones' group, after Beck succeeded in having him leave the WH and revealed his far left statements (again in his own words). Jones left within 2 weeks and Beck completed his run.

A quick check of the ratings shows that Beck IS the leading cable show ever in the 5PM slot, and today is still over 100% higher in that slot than other shows. The ratings slipping game fails to mention that all cable shows on all channels slumped during that same time period coming off a very hyper news cycle.

Beck has marched to his own drummer. They hated him for it, and did all they could to destroy him...he continues to succeed on his own terms. He stopped the face first rush to a "fundamentally changed America", long enough for questioning and to make sure the conservative silent America had time to find each other, and enter the Tea Party.

That's enough for me right there.

It's funny, I only watched a few episodes and can remember all the patches. He was quite coherent, and rather brilliant in his analysis from time to time. I think he is at least as good as Sarah Palin in getting key phrases into the discourse, such as, "a perfect storm."

I think he was also very aware of how tenuous American hold on normalcy is, and how there are any number of monstrous agents even within America who would destroy it, even if it meant destroying themselves in the process.

When he started to talk about it I said he was lying to get attention and I haven't seen or heard anything to change my mind. I am all for differences of opinion on TV, I watch Hannity, Maddow, O"reilly and glean what is the truth from all that they pontificate about.

Garage M - Beck spent 2 yrs calling Van Jones and the left out. While they called him crazy and worse they never disputed the facts..as mostly it was video of thems saying it.

Jones had to leave the WH and Beck kept working at FOX for over a year.

Two weeks before Beck is to leave, Jones sends a phony letter to FOX to cease and desist and at the same time challenges Beck to have him on his show. That little bit of disingenous intellectual dishonesty is what Beck has put out in the open.

Beck responded, he just didn't agree to use his hard earned TV time at FOX to play into Jones manipulations.

Jones had all the time in the world to dispute or debate what Glenn said...why the red phone sat in the set and never rang either before, during or after Jones left the WH.

I don't have to agree with everything Beck says, or like everything he does, or follow him around calling him the "one" or wait for the seas to calm or whatever BS that Obama theatre is all about. Beck is the first one to call that crap...crap.

He kept his job, he kept his message and he stood up to the progressive ridicule machine. And he was right...damn right about what he said and no one, absolutely no one has been able to claim otherwise...and Media Matters and Soros and Jones spent millions trying.

Dues paid...he's an American hero.

The wildest tidbit I know about Beck is that once he held up a book called The Road to Serfdom by Friedrich Hayek. The next day the book was #1 at Amazon.com. For the next three months it stayed in that slot. It's an almost unreadably difficult book by a U. of Chicago economics professor first published in the 1940s. I read it, and it wasn't any fun to read, although it's very good. He links the Soviets and the Nazis and says from the viewpoint of bureaucratic control of the government, they are identical.

Beck liked that, and so do I, but Hayek takes a very long and complicated time getting to those ideas.

After three months the book moved to #2. Glenn Beck's novel had taken the first position at Amazon.com. I don't think we have to worry about him having to live hand to mouth in a trailer park.

Hell, I don't even like Beck all that much. I do appreciate that he used his targets' own words and constantly, constantly told viewers not to trust him, but to do the research for themselves...to watch the un-televised full-length video for themselves. Vicky, you said: "I'd have to say that Beck is either a messiah or Charlie Manson. It scares me that there are actually people out there who believe EVERYTHING he says.". Then, when pressed, you declaimed: "I never said that his listeners were Charles Manson.".

No, cowardly Vicky, you just accused Beck's enthusiastic listeners of being the Manson Family, by implication capable and willing to commit purposeful evil on the scale of the Tate-LaBianca murders. Why do you fear your fellow countrymen so? What do you think you have that they want? Oh right, they want their Liberty and property back, that you are complicit in its confiscation for progressive purposes. They want to be free again. That's right Vicky, you fear that your slaves may revolt.

Then you say "Too many people are willing to accept whatever he says with no questions asked."

And you know this ... how? Please provide the evidence for this slander.

How many is too many? 1? 10? 1000? 10,000,000? Out there on the bankrupt Left Coast, bleeding jobs and wealth and mis-educated kids, where they are dumping 30,000 violent prisoners back onto the street because you can't afford to keep them locked up, you sure are convinced that your fellow countrymen are malevolent slopeheads, instead of ordinary, good-hearted, God-fearing Americans.

You have far more to fear from the criminals about to invade Pasadena, who will pillage your homes and businesses, and rape and kill your daughters.

The Fox News channel that can pay Al Sharpton to be an analyst and to appear on Fox News shows with an implication that he is a credible person, owes Glenn Beck an apology. I didn't watch him much but what I saw was far more credible than Sharpton.

How pointless and lame Media Matters is for bothering to make this montage...

The left is ate up with hate. They wallow in it, they relish it, they confuse expressing hate with creativity. Despite temporary appearances to the contrary, hate creates nothing, it destroys.

Beck got GE to have a fire sale of MSNBC

As I stated here in February, Glenn Beck is Jack Parr regurgitating the words of Art Bell. Tho probably more Garner Ted Armstrong than Bell.

I never watch Beck, but always took great delight in the anguish he caused people. I don't recall ever reading where anyone proved him wrong. The liberal's shallow argument always boiled down to two words: "He's stupid", or "He lies", with no corresponding proof. That's called "stuttering intellect".

Unbelievably the Federal Government is paying for Media Matters. Wrong!
