It must be that guys with beards decide to shave them off and then for a joke, do a partial shave, which they only keep long enough to make a few people laugh. It *must* be.
I think it's rather fun, in a way, but I suppose it herald's some horror when men start to spend inordinate amounts of time adorning themselves. Makes me think of the victorian historical romances I've been reading. The fun ones are all about the men spending an hour to get their hair just so or their cravat perfect.
Beards that are just let go aren't that hard, but a beard with any sort of design involved is high maintenance.
Fun and shock value. When I was a youngster, I did a lot of 'STUFF' trying to get noticed. As long as you grow out of this stage it is not a problem. But....Now, that 'STUFF' gets recorded for posterity and can hang around your neck causing problems later. Be careful!!!

I don't think the monkeytail beard works as a style because it just looks like a mistake. Kind of makes you look crazy.
"I always forget to shave my jaw on this side and the part by my mouth on the other side."
"Mmkay."

Ann I thought the same thing
Althouse, I think you're right.
I know a lot of guys who left Old West style handlebar mustaches on for a few weeks after shaving their beards. That's kind of fun.
I like the first guy with the colored part.

I suppose I mean that the first picture looks far more purposeful than the others. The others look more accidental.
(My dad won a prize in a bicentenial beard growing contest. He got "best effort.")
They just want some attention.

A tidy monkey tail beard seems like a better way of getting attention than the spiked collar and gauges.
*sigh*
Sort of looks like he sneezed while trimming his Van Dyke.
What a great look to have, especially when you're hoping NOT to be hired.
Oh my sweet fancy Christ.
This is not the sort of thing that someone in my condition (beer-drunk) should look upon.
Do you have any idea, the nightmares that this will cause?
Wear shorts with that, that, face rat, and go out in public. I dare you.
The next evolution of this will be the mink face.
