The window box in the blizzard.

Here's how those Japanese fishing net floats looked last July.

The Japanese switched over to plastic floats for their fishing nets a few decades ago. So enjoy 'em while they last. There won't be any more unless you want to hit west coast antique shops and flea markets.

Looks like the snow is barely covers the ground. Does it come up over those elfin Althousian ankles?

If not, that's not much of a blizzard.

Unless, of course, it hasn't even gotten warmed up yet.

The SF Chronicle links to a more sensible way to have a living Christmas tree: sfgate.com/ZKRQ

Pick a potted tree up from the Friends of the Urban Forest in San Francisco, enjoy it through the holidays, and it will then be planted as a street tree. No need to build a forest on your own property, and no annual maintenance fee. But while non traditional trees include evergreens, the odds of getting a conifer are low.

According to this Canadian study, artificial trees are better for the environment only after twenty years of use. So the professor will have to use hers till she's in her eighties.

@fls: 58 years-old + 20 = 78 years-old.

Do the 3rd grade math, bro.
