Very nice - I like the colors. I've enjoyed a lot of your photos but this is my first time posting about them. Keep them coming. Uh, and no, I'm not responding to Meade.
I yelled at Madonna today, and I didn't even realize it until later!
She's apparently directing a film (!) and was shooting right in front of my house in Brooklyn on Wednesday. I came outside to do my morning walk and there were crowds of people all over the place: screaming black girls, curious Chassidim, hipsters in Ray-Bans feigning disinterest, irritated cops... I saw a bunch of Arri equipment boxes and realized it was a film shoot of some sort. I walked a few feet down my block and a chick with a headset held up her arm and said "You have to cross the street, sir!" I replied: "I don't have to do anything. This is my neighborhood, and a public sidewalk, and I'll go where I please!"
I walked a few more feet and another drone with a headset came rushing up to me and said "The sidewalk's closed. Please cross the street!" I replied: "This is a public sidewalk. I will continue to walk where I please."
I pushed past him and a I came upon a haggard woman in sunglasses, a baseball cap and a scarf printed with a stylized skull pattern holding a clipboard and looking into a hand-held monitor along with a couple of other people. Being a veteran of the terrible world of film production, I recognized that this woman was probably the director. I paused as I passed and said to her: "You need to inform your brain-dead P.A.s that they need to treat us residents a little better, honey." She looked at me, expressionless behind her sunglasses for a moment before one of the men with her said "Move along, sir." I replied "a hearty fuck you to both of you" and I walked onward.
Later, when I was on my way home, I stopped in the local market and the Korean guy who runs the place said to me: "what do you think of that mess out there?" I told him of my encounter with the production assistants and the director. He laughed and said: "do you know who that director is? Madonna!"
I smiled and said "No, I didn't recognize her.. but she looks like hell and sure runs a shitty location shoot."
Maybe Meade is thinking about the comment in an earlier thread that Ann should go as Marlene Dietrich's character in "The Blue Angel" on Halloween and getting some ideas.

I was thinking about the ruling class's confusion about the tea party. The crux of the biscuit is that they have been imitating grass roots political activity since the 60s. They buy it. Print a bunch of signs, give out free t shirts, get a bus, pay the people for their time, and off you go. All that trouble and expense to imitate genuine political passion in hopes of fooling the populace into thinking there is some spontaneous movement. That is the recipe for the last 45 years.
With the tea party, you have an actual grass roots uprising that is leaderless because it is actually from the ground up. As such, it is powerful, ungovernable, and infectious.
At tea parties people make their own signs, pay their own way and wear their own t shirts. We give up money to march instead of take money to march.
And the political elite keep looking for the mastermind that managed to make this happen. That is a small part of why the fear Palin and Beck et al. But there is no mastermind. The tea party is bona fide grassroots, no organizing needed.
And that is scarry to the puppet master elites. It should be! They are the ones with the target on their back.
MM - We are, by no means strangers to Michael's these days, though we visited more often b/c of the employee discounts our daughter's job afforded us during her hs days (her dad could also count on a perfect cherry sundae during her shifts, as well)
No, it's not "just ice cream" - it's got a higher milkfat and egg content, which think gives it a richer, creamier texture. I grew up with it and prefer it to standard ice cream.
I was in Madison back in July for a Triathlon camp and with all the construction somehow got very lost. We pulled into this place to check the map and ordered a small dish while we got reoriented. The custard was incredible here!!

Meade, ahem, what kind of photographs does your wife enjoy?

Falling in love again,
Never wanted to,

What am I to do?
I can't help it.

"Nudge, Nudge, wink wink, Say no more".
Drips and larger than life objects?
Oh, ok............
OH...MY...GOD!
The St. Paul police department publishes prostitution arrest photos every week.

Nice reflections. Lovely colors.

When we lived at our old house, we'd walk down to MFCs all the time. Then we moved 2 blocks farther away, and it was suddenly too far.
We saved a lot of money by moving.
It looks like the next evolution of box wine is "tank wine". Not that this information has any particular relevance to this blog or its blogress.
Allen, here's the correct site for the St. Paul Police Department.
From the NY Daily News.
Althouse must do a post. Well she doesn't have to, but it's right in her wheelhouse.
Does Michelle really hate being FLOTUS?

Thanks for telling Madonna fuck you Palladian. And for not getting off the side walk.
Not that I have anything against Madonna. But everyone has the right to use the sidewalk.
Thanks, Peter, I thought something looked different.
Unfortunately, there isn't a delete thingy, so I can't delete my comment, so disregard.

Speaking of frozen custard:
Lomborg Denies Global Warming Conversion
Reminds me of custard's last stand.
Frozen Custard??
Is'nt this just ice cream. I make some kinds of ice cream with a custard base I've never heard of it. Must be a Mid West thing?
Oh, for a Large Peanut Butter Cup from Michael's.....
I picked the wrong week to start my diet.

The only thing I have lately at MFCs is the Cherry Soda. Yum.
When my wife had her elbow surgery -- an in-patient procedure -- our first post-op stop was MFCs for a coffee shake. Yum.
When we were married, we rode in the limo to MFCs from the church for custard before the reception.
MFCs has been there a long time!
wv: nufackin
You and your nufackin "frozen custard!" I'd never buy a cone of it again. Only a dish and I'd eat it in the store.
(I wasn't going to post a comment, but I couldn't let that wv go to waste.)
