Enjoyed your defence of the tea partiers.

Maybe there are more people that heard the dismissive press accounts of this.. but if there are still curious people out there they will find someone on the record asking pertinent, fare questions.

In my mind the use of race this way in a way delegitimizes what went on before, MLKs civil rights movement. Especially when it is done by the people involved in overcoming. It makes a mockery out of it.

They trample on those hard won gains. Its pernicious and really counterproductive.

Even if equality is the highest virtue to which we aspire it should not come at the expense of the verifiable truth of an event.

If it does then everything would have been for nothing.

Its on C-SPAN too.

We are not a nation that falls pray to fear.. says the President.

Is Al Qaeda getting health care coverage ;)

Dont see Stupak anywhere..

I wonder why?

Of course Congressional Staffers are not geting health care reform, they opted themselves out.

It is good to be king, or working closely with the king.

We're all going to live in fear of microbes and that's no joke. A request for treatment of a bad infection will get you a trip in front of the death panels if you're in the wrong demographic. We'll be back where we were 200 years when a bad cut was a death sentence.

Rush missed Stupak also..

Each of us knows it all, and knows he knows it all – the rest, to a man, are fools and deluded. One man knows there is a hell, the next one knows there isn’t; one man knows that monarchy is the best, the next one knows it isn’t; one man knows high tariff is right, the next man knows it isn’t; one age knows there are witches, the next one knows there aren’t; one sect knows its religion is the only true one, there are sixty-four thousand five hundred million sects that know it isn’t so.

So libertarian Matt Welch regularly votes Democrat. He's so opposed to social conservativism (which rarely gets what they want in actual legislation, despite the pandering done to them in by politicians) that he's willing to have his pocket picked, and just as onerous restrictions on social freedoms imposed on him by Democrats?

What a maroon!

I always feel intimidated by super clever Matt Welch types. But deep down I know that super clever is just a hair's breadth away from stupid...and that makes me feel better, self-esteemwise.

I had a good laugh at your comment, ricpic. It reminded me of part of the interplay between Althouse and Welch about tea party protesters. This is going to be the gist of it.

Althouse, through Meade's attendance, was talking about how these are normal people out there. Welch then looks like he just got the creeps, and says something like, "Funny, I've always found protesters to be ODD.", followed by a little laugh.

In context, listening to this and watching it, it was all very cute, as was his story about Mickey Kaus who will KILL him when he sees him next time. lol

Macrobes are not to be sneezed at, either.
