Arrgh! This is a very long plank to Davy Jones' Locker! But as a gentleman pirate, I shall not insult you in the manner that crustacean from that other loser blog did. Arrgh!
Word verification: slygod, like me and Poseidon. Arrgh!
More Pirate images of you walking a plank? Come back Ann, come back, Ace is not mad at you. seriously that is a Nice peaceful picture to end the day's internecine warfare.
Don't believe the lefties, Ann. Chivalry does not live in their souls. They only speak nicely because you have calmed their castration anxieties for a brief (exceedingly brief) moment (and, Lord knows, any real woman causes that crowd to have them). Once you take up the sword of truth against their lies, as you so often have, they will vilify you again.
So toddle off to beddy-byes. You've had a busy day roiling the Internet. And never forget there are plenty of men who would love to buckle their swash for you.
And Ace, RSM, and other Palin fans need to understand Sarah Palin has got her own baggage. Pointing out her weaknesses is not disloyalty, it is just common sense with any person proposing to run for President. Too bad it did not happen in Obama's case (or that certain individuals...ahem coughAlthousecough) voted for him.
If I didn't know better, and I don't, I would swear Althouse woke up this morning determined to drive up hits by hook or crook.
You just have to look at Hot Air and how Allahpundit reels 'em in with his relentlessly negative posts on Palin.
Then throw in Lady Gaga-- I mean, T&A works better than kids and puppies, doesn't it?
Emphasize all that with the sheer number of posts, the most I can remember in one day for this blog.
All in all, I'm kind of disappointed in you, Professor, not that you really give a good goddam what I think. Do you have a bet going with Glenn Reynolds? Or is it Andrew Sullivan?
And I agree with F4P - Palin needs to be scrutinized and examined. We can't let another disaster like MC President get by because the MSM spent its time cooing at his general coolness.
Anyone person supports Sarah Palin. The fact she puts out her views on Facebook rather than some other method of communication doesn't make a difference. Either way, she's just a politician, and those who are drawn to her have certain markers that everyone else can note. Namely, the fact that Palin supporters tend to be dumb proles. Even other conservatives notice that, but many are too polite (not David Frum or his crew!) to point that out.
"Namely, the fact that Palin supporters tend to be dumb proles. Even other conservatives notice that, but many are too polite (not David Frum or his crew!) to point that out."
Eh, you can take your urban elitism and stuff it. I don't support Palin because she seems confused, small-minded and incompetent. Those are the same reasons I don't like Barack Obama. I respect Palin supporters more than I respect Obama supporters though. Palin supporters are just desperately looking for a way out of this mess. Obama supporters are looking for a way in.
People need to repeat to themselves: criticizing Sarah Palin doesn't imply criticism of her beliefs or her political orientation. And not supporting and defending everything she did and does does not make you less of a conservative. The same goes for liberals, democrats and other fellow travelers. You don't have to agree with and defend Barack Obama to prove that you're a liberal.
You can prove something by defending ideas, not politicians.
There is a movie coming out in January 2010 starring Brendan Frasier and Harrison Ford regarding one of the products that my company developed that now keeps people alive with a disease called Pompe Disease.
Wow, I missed out on all the fun on this blog yesterday, when Althouse finally decided to tell the world that she, too, thinks Sarah Palin is dumb and unfit to be President.
As a general observation on blogging, budding new bloggers ought to be studying Althouse's masterful blogging strategies. She has won the weekend in the blogosphere on the Palin book topic. Well played, Professor.
Wow and Re-Wow! The hurricane level perfect blogstorm that hit yesterday stems from a emergence since the recent election results of a sudden recognition that Obama can lose the next election...yes he can...and a resulting scramble of those pushing for and pushing against Palin's status as the likely next President. No one expects the Obamanation to continue. That is a new reality. A month ago Palin was a joke to the Jeremy's and DTL's, They were encouraging the Palinistas to send her out to the slaughter like David to Goliath. Now they are bitterly cursing her as if she is a real threat to win. Likewise the thoughtful moderates are suddenly saying hold your rogue horses a minute and let's examine Palin's defects. That is new. Moderates had been seeing her as an Andy Jacksonesque phenom and not as qualified to be a real President over them. The long suppressed white rednecks (aka traditional Reagan conservatives) are erupting like uncorked champagne and demanding that we inaugurate Palin NOW. Until this political tectonic plate shift stabilises again, everybody will be at each other's throat wondering where it will all lead. But no dithering allowed guys. We need to get on the runaway Palin train or be left behind.Neutrality seems to be crueler than ever in these days.
A) Welcome back, Michael. Here's to good health and family & years to enjoy it. B) And there's Althouse, a woman without peer, out on a pier. Possibly contemplating just how far MC President would try to walk on water should he visit Madison on a lark.
"Schroeder tried & couldn't do it. Hillary tried & couldn't do it. You mean to tell me this gal from Wasilla with her wandering educational journey and midwestern accent just might get that brass ring? Ugh."
Sometimes it takes a Nixon to get to China. And sometimes it takes a gal from Wasilla to get into the Oval Office.
Stranger things have happened. I know that recently a guy got elected who's claim to fame is that he ran a winning election, proof that he -- and 800 million dollars -- accomplished something.
"You can prove something by defending ideas, not politicians."
True, and one of the statements which shows how some commenters do elevate the discussion here.
Yet, Palladian, as I agree I think about it a little more. Can we separate ideas from the politicians? Yes, we can (ha!) in regards to discussing political theories or ideals. But, ideas in politics are always embodied. We are very rarely allowed to vote for an idea. We vote for particular people who we hope will best represent our ideas in government. We are never entirely happy, as no on shares our exact understanding of ideas. But sometimes we get close. Reagan was one of those politicians who very closely embodied the ideas of a movement.
Huckabee comes to mind, for me, as someone I probably would come close to on many issues. But I don't like him. I think we probably agree on ideas and values, but I think he embodies these in ways that bring out the worst aspects of the ideas.
I might agree with Palin on a fair amount but still am open if she is the best embodiment of the political philosophy that we need for our era--in terms of priorities, expression, manner, leadership, etc.
How come I never read posts entitled "Barack Obama is dumb"? or "David Axelrod is dumb"? or "Joe Biden is dumb"? We save the d-word for the girl in the room, I guess.
Ignorance is Bliss: There's a reason we missed you [Palladian]. Glad you're back.
I'm glad he's back, too.
He's made my feeling of vindication all the sweeter today. Palladian: I don't support Palin because she seems confused, small-minded and incompetent. :)

Is it me, or does the Long Walk Tavern have a pretty short pier?
It doesn't matter if the pier -- or dock -- is long or short. What matters is knowing when to stop.
And enjoying the view. That matters, too.
I just left Madison - came back home to NYC - and I miss it already. Not the cold, but the beauty.

Kidding. To make up for my rudeness, have a plate of butternut squash ravioli.

Very wistful. Nice, pensive image

Ann needs to get real about Carrie Prejean.

Relax. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

Ahhh, humor AND pictures, that's why I enjoy this blog.

Sure. I just think it is juvenile, catty and lacking in thoughtfulness to call her "dumb".
Like I've said before - she posted a few times on Facebook and stopped the President and Congress in their tracks.
Who's the dumb one?
"Who's the dumb one?"

How cool is that?
Titus, you give them Pompe to keep them alive? That's very creative.
you've beclowned yourself.
Palin by posting on Facebook caused the MC administration to come to heel.
I don't find that dumb. I find that astonishingly brilliant.
Who's the dumb one, the one who speaks or the one who panics?
Go to bed and dream. You're safe because brave men and women serve you and are willing to protect you.
Fine words from a teleprompter don't impress the likes of KSM or OBL.
(By the way, how's that promise of MC President to go after OBL? Did he forget or is he just dithering?)
Imagine, a blogger posting for ratings.
And her, a Law Professor.
Today was an unusually funny blog day.
I find myself regretting that this string of topics didn't happen about eight weeks ago.
Titus, that's pretty darn cool.
wv - unhers. His?
oh... new wv - hates.
now just what should I associate with that?
Liver will do.
That picture makes me very homesick.
And very cold.

When you get to the end of the pier you can't walk no more,
You've got to go home and tough it out --
That's what piers are for.

Old Greg, anyone? Seems appropriate with the piratey, oceanic theme.
I'm glad to report that I'm back home.
Many thanks for your prayers, messages, and words of encouragement and acts of kindness.
Thanks, very much.
Michael
Welcome back Michael. It's great to hear the good news. You are needed around here to add a special point of view that we all love.
A) Welcome back, Michael. Here's to good health and family & years to enjoy it.

Ugh, stop talking about Palin already.
I think I know what some are thinking:
"Schroeder tried & couldn't do it. Hillary tried & couldn't do it. You mean to tell me this gal from Wasilla with her wandering educational journey and midwestern accent just might get that brass ring? Ugh."
Sometimes it takes a Nixon to get to China. And sometimes it takes a gal from Wasilla to get into the Oval Office.
Stranger things have happened. I know that recently a guy got elected who's claim to fame is that he ran a winning election, proof that he -- and 800 million dollars -- accomplished something.
No more "Yes We Can," but perhaps "Yes She Will."
Think about it.

Enlarging the pic seems to show the person at the end of her rope is really Johnny Cash wearing a blonde wig.

Kathleen, you missed the Obama is a ditherer post.
Indecision is not treated fondly by the blog diva.
Heal up good, Mike, and get back on that bike!
