"My washboard stomach that saved my life."

Okay, then. Situps for everybody. Or don't paraglide in freak gusts of wind that rip you across rocky outcroppings.

" I do 15 sit-ups and 30 bicycle sit-ups, or lateral crunches, every day - it's just a one-minute regime. "

Who hasn't got time for that? They probably won't save your life, but you will look better for having done them.

Now If I can just get myself to do them! I hate situps with a passion, but it is only one minute out of 1,440 in a day...

Too bad her washboard brain didn't say "NO!" to paragliding over mountains.

I have no intention of ever paragliding so I will now go back to the couch and read a good book. Perhaps drink a glass of wine.
Finish off the Cheetos.

But experts said her life was saved by her high level of fitness.

Some doctor makes a pass at a woman and that's news?

Had she crashed here that doctor would looking at a sexual harrasment suit ;)

OT.

..when astronauts aboard the space shuttle Atlantis attempt to give the orbiting observatory new instruments, new batteries and a new lease on life.

This is the "final" Hubble service mission of the space shuttle.
It seems to me this is too much expense and too much risk for too little return.

With the Hubble doomed to expire in orbit as its gyros failed, schoolchildren across the country donated their lunch money to prod NASA to reconsider. In 2006, NASA decided to reinstate the mission.

What kind of assessment was that?

I hope nothing happens of course but it just seems nutty, should something go wrong wide open to recriminations. There is probably a forest of CYA memos about this one.

"I was dragged for what seemed like an eternity over the rocks, tearing my stomach in the process. I was only told later that it was my washboard stomach that saved my life."

You're special!

Now if you don't mind? We have sooooo many specials right behind.

Move along little doggie, move along.

Geez, if she had been a few pounds overweight, she wouldn't have been in that position!

Wouldn't a layer of fat on top of those muscles be even more protective?

Finally, a post about working out and maintaining abs.

It is so important people. It will save your life. You will also feel better about yourself and be the person you want to be.

There really are no excuses.

Just laziness and lame excuses and a lack of will power.

Just do it bitches. For yourself, your partners and the entire world

You will be happier, I guarantee it.

thank you.

I figure squats would be more effective for life saving abs.

The article left out the part where the doctor told her “Another [small unit of measure] and you’d be [some tragic consequence.]”

They always say that . . . and well they should!

It's one of the perks of the job!
