So you've perceived that it's been a "Henry"-themed day on the blog.

But why has it been a "Henry"-themed day on the blog?

Why the "Henry" theme?
2 posts had "Henry" by chance so she started doing it on purpose.
She's sending out love to some guy named Henry.
She and her close pals use the word "Henry" to mean something she won't say.

I think it's so she has a chance to fix this:

"Things did not go well for the Justice Henrys."

Who will go first?

Michael Haz said...

It's okay as it is. The Justice Henrys are a grunge-polka band in Madison. The bar burned down while they were playing a gig last week. Things did not go well for the Justice Henrys.

Not that there's anything wrong with it.

Just choosy, I imagine.

Now I get it!

Henry VIII I am, I am.

I'm Henry the eighth I am
Henry the eighth I am, I am
I got married to the widow next door
She's been married seven times before
And every one was an Henry (Henry)
She wouldn't have a Willy or a Sam (no Sam)
I'm her eighth old man, I'm Henry
Henry the eighth I am

Second verse same as the first

H-E-N-R-Y
Henry (Henry)
Henry (Henry)
Henry the eighth I am, I am
Henry the eighth I am

Yeah!

Can we go back a few days to that one post and replace all instances of the word "Hummer" with "Henry"?

You know, the funny thing is that for the last few days, Instapundit's been on this bacon kick. Mmm mmm good. There's something about bloggers that renders them susceptible to obsessions-of-the-day, I think.

My pet gerbil, "Henry" just died.

What shall I do?

@Meade:

Willy and Sam are girls' names.

i know several women named sam, but i've never met a woman that called herself willy.

as for my use of willy, allow me to quote some red hot chili pepper lyrics:

A little boy came along
Name of Louis Armstrong
Said that girl who left me silly
She likes the looks of me and my willy

I can't believe the right answer isn't winning by more than it is. Don't you know me by now???

But go on, go ahead, start calling something "Henry" and think of me.

Urban Dictionary has a slang meaning for "Henry." Not something I'd ever seen before... or would have much use for.

"John Henry"... I've heard of that. Whether I'd have much use for that... is beyond the scope of this blog.

I named my son Henry after his maternal great grandfather.

For many years, he carried a Yankee ball in his shoulder.

I'm surprised you noticed only one.
There are over 20 slang definitions of Henry listed there. Some of them are pretty hilarious and keep within the Titus-established bounds of your blog comment section.

Oh! Funny! I stopped scrolling at the ads. Most of those seem to be people just insulting some guy they know called Henry.

There are 4 pages:

#13. Henry: vietnamese gangster born to in U.S. to kill Al Capone.

#14. To perform an improper act with a hoover. From the eponymous brand of hoovers with faces on "Henry Hoover"

I think you bought a big bag of full-sized Oh Henry! bars for Halloween last year and you just found them and you only allowed yourself to eat one when you found and posted an article about a Henry.

You must have had quite a sugar rush earlier.

No "Henry" tag yet?

I had a distant female cousin named Willy or maybe Willie. She lived with her two sisters next to the farm our ancestor bought in 1797. They had the original deed on the wall, but their cousin farmed the land.

Short for "Wilhelmina".

Naah, it dosent work.

#3 is, of course, the correct answer. Althouse and pals use "Henry" to mean a unit of inductance in which an induced electromotive force of one volt is produced when the current is varied at the rate of one ampere per second.

That's how my pals use it.

dbp said...

I figured that answer # one is correct, but voted for # 3 because it is a more interesting answer.

Have you never seen "Temple of Doom"?

I do like the idea of "working your name into my blog posts" as a courting ritual - although you probably need to have achieve a certain level of traffic before it's really meaningful.
