Would a grown man write this sentence: "Sue Gardner and I have an excellent working relationship, like, really really excellent"? like, really really excellent?! That's the argot of teenage girls and surfer bums, not intelligent adults.

"That's the argot of teenage girls and surfer bums, not intelligent adults."

Yeah, if only he'd dropped in a few dozen Latin words and phrases. Nothing says adult like Latin words and phrases.

Careful, Althouse, it could be Rachel Marsden posing as Jimmy Wales. It may have not been enough for her to sell his stuff on ebay after he dumped her on Wikipedia. Ooo baby, baby it's a wild 2.0 world. Hard to get by just upon email, gir...rrr...rrrl.

It looks like the NYT got some company.

Unfair, Lem. I've never assumed it was him. I felt I had to publish the text in case it was him. I was in a bind.

You are absolutely right.

'publish -- but verify'. Smarter than Oprah, you is!

Ooh. He was mixed up with Rachel Marsden?

He has my pity.

Ann,
It shouldn't be very difficult to verify the authenticity of the email. Did you try replying to it? Did you try writing to his main contact email address on wikipedia?

Ann Althouse said...

Yeah, I replied to it, and what I got back was: "Don't quote me." After I quoted him. The hell!

Over at Wikipedia, it says:

Or you can email him:

"Other inquiries (related to me or my position) can be sent by e-mail to jwales -at- wikia -dot- com."

I'm seeing a slightly different email address, but I'm not going to print it.
