Icicle update #4.
It's 46° here in Madison, Wisconsin, and for 24 hours, what was deep snow has been melting into thick fog. I'm no longer looking out my window as if from an ice cage.

The UK Telegraph has a remarkable photo of an icicle that resembles the profile of a bearded man.
Bob, we will not be outdone! It's the season for this, afterall.
The great unthaw
"It's 46° here in Madison, Wisconsin..."
I thaw that. Down here in the Queen city, it's 60 and predicted to rise to 70 by afternoon. I'm opening my doors to welcome in the warmth before heading out into it in a bit.
I like to dig down by my hog and smell it when it is sweaty.
When I was in Mazomanie I saw a house that had icicles that went all the way down to the ground.
Yes, all the roofs have lost their snowcover. The accumulation of ice and gunk on my driveway is gone. I like thaws like this -- nature cleans everything away that you didn't, and then it snows again.
The snow again part is mandatory -- otherwise you see all the trash and yellow/brown snow that should rightfully remain covered up 'til March.
On rare occasions, icicles (ice stalagmites) grow upwards: link
