In Florida when I was growing up we called turtles like that cooters, and ate them. Strangely, we also called women's vaginas "cooter" also, and occasionally dined on that, as well. ;)
Figuratively speaking, of course. ;)
(what did cooter taste like? Chicken, of course. Unless you're referring to the other cooter, which tasted like...fish)
