Our "script"... our "reality is pretty brutal and pretty hard-edged like a rough action film," so we need a President "who's been in that."

Sylvester Stallone makes the pitch for John McCain.

So Huckabee's got Chuck Norris. And now, McCain has Stallone. Somebody needs a Schwarzenegger! Wait! Who's that on the phone?!

But I thought Hollywood was full of a bunch of weirdos and kooks who have no business expressing their opinions . . . at least that's what all the right-wing bloggers and radio/TV hosts have been telling me.

Oh great, another empty headed celebrity joining the fray. I suppose there are those who will vote based on celebrity endorsements and they are just as air headed as the celebrities themselves.

Matt Romney was the cool one in that ad! Can I vote for him instead of HelmetHairHead?

Can we get Pee Wee Herman to prank call Ron Paul? ("I know you are, but what am I?")

Ron said...

If Rudy could get Bruce Willis and change his campaign slogan to "Yippee-ki-ya, motherfucker!", it'd be hard not to vote for him...

Clever campaign ad.

The leaked memo said the campign would use YouTube videos in this way.

"The plan suggests Romney make full use of new media to reach voters, from feeding videos to YouTube to perhaps creating his own radio programming."

Doug: To the extent that "right-wing bloggers and radio/TV hosts" have been bashing McCain and Huckabee as much as Hillary and Obama, I would say the opinion that Hollywood is not where people should look for advice, still holds. Not that you actually listen/watch/read them.

Great-

Huckabee has Chuck Norris.

McCain has Sly Stallone, and

Romney *has* the fake terminator.

A three way wrestling match.

What's Rudy got?

Adam Sandler and Dennis Miller.

Those two would get beaten like redheaded stepchildren but still...I think they could outsmart them.

I have to admit the bit was funny.

You have to like the way Mitt snaps his phone shut at the end and just gets on with eating his sandwich.

And Barack has Scarlett Johannson-yum-I would love to get Lost in Translation with her. She has amazing tits, great smile and an ass that I would devour.

I love a nice pair of womens tits in a nice tight sweater sitting up at attention and staring at me. Nothing finer in the world.

Women's tits are beautiful. I like it when they bounce lightly-maybe from the subway or when they walk.

Speaking of tits how are yours hanging Althouse? Make sure you continue on with the black sweaters-you look fierce in them.

Ron, I was kind of hoping Rudy would get Charles Bronson or Clint Eastwood. A nice long-barrel 44 pointed at Mad Mahmoud's head, "Ya feelin' lucky, punk?" Better yet, Rudy with his finger on "the button", saying, "Go Ahead, Mahmoud, make my day." Or, "Do you believe in Allah, Mahmoud? Well, you're going to meet him." (in case you thought I was too heavy on the Eastwood.

Ron said...

Richard -- and Rudy could use an Eastwood line from Unforgiven pre-nuke launch: "Deserve's got nothin' to do with it."

OK off topic but wth-

From NRO on Romney before the debate tonight-

It was a quick in-and-out, and Mrs. Romney mentioned that he was preserving his voice for the debate.

My gawd he's after the minuteman vote....

Hillary has Ugly Betty, Edwards has the humpy guy from Desperate Housewives, and don't forget Dennis Kucinich has Sean Penn.

HAD Sean Penn, I should say.

I guess Althouse doesn't see fit to mention that Dennis Kucinich has dropped out of the race today. She did it for Fred Thompson, but not for Dennis.

Figures!

KCFleming said...

Dennis Kucinich was running for President?

If someone would only get the Napoleon Dynamite endorsement.

Revenant said...

I doubt Dennis' own wife noticed he'd dropped out of the race.

Actually, I bet he's paying her plenty of attention tonight.

Stop and think about it. What is the one thing that Kucinich and Thompson have in common? Come to think of it, they are probably spending some 'together time' right now (though Thompson probably needs a prescription for Viagra if he is.)

Forget about Fred.

She even did it for Tommy Thompson.

As far as celebrity endorsements are concerned, I'm tired of hearing about how everyone in Hollywood is a bunch of socialistic liberals. There are a few, to be sure, but the concept that Hollywood is some giant conspiracy of liberals out to destroy American moral values just isn't true. It's born of conservative paranoia. This should put a lot of that to rest.

Oh, and meanwhile, Paris Hilton endorsed Rudy Giuliani as the candidate who best shares her values.

Well, the bit about it being a conspiracy is certainly false, but I don't see how you can credibly argue against the claims that Hollywood is (a) overwhelmingly left-wing or (b) at odds with mainstream American values. Heck, Hollywood released more anti-war films last year alone -- at a financial loss, even -- than they have "pro-war" films in the last decade, I'm pretty sure.

And what was the last movie in which the capitalist was the good guy? I kind of rooted for Danny DeVito in "Other People's Money", but I'm not sure that counts.

blake said...

Danny De Vito was the "hero" of OPM, Rev, but he reformed at the end, remember?

Revenant said...

As I remember it, Blake, he didn't reform at all -- they just sprung a deus ex machina so he didn't end up selling off the company's parts after all.

The speech he gives to the company's shareholders is probably the best defense of leveraged buyouts to appear in film, though.

Any one of these cretians going to opt for a "civilized" buddy stereotype? No?

These bonzos seem so afraid, so threatened, so insecure. What? Keep up the Bush fear legacy so we can have 8 more years of fear?

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

The Rudy/Bruce Willis one gets the door prize. Obama with a Chicago Bears uniform on preening around the stadium during the Super Bowl would get him the big chair for sure...

Admitting that is the first step towards real change, Eli.

Here are The Five Steps to transforming Hollywood from a bunch of socialistic liberals to an open living culture once more:

1. We admit we are powerless over socialism's false promises. Only a Constitution greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.

2. We decide to turn our will and our lives over to the bounty of democratic capitalism, even as we understand it not.

3. Make a searching and fearless moral inventory of our films.
Admit to ourselves and to the rest of the world the exact nature of our socialism.

4. Humbly accept the shortcomings of socialism. Vow not to infect any more movies with this leftist crap.

5. Make movies people actually want to see, ones that contain and reflect the values felt by your countrymen, the ones you so disdain.

Eli, begin your journey out of the darkness of socialist lies. I'll be your sponsor. Whenever you feel the impulse to blame the US for all that happens in the world, or you feel the urge to control the lives of others as if they were blocks of wood, call me. I'll talk you through it.

The only celebrity endorsement I'm interested in is Althouse's. Once she finally decides, I think it'll be all over but the voting.

No, you merely put your own strawman to rest. Its not about "conspiracy", its about a concept called Shared Values.

Such a dishonest characterization. There is a genuine threat of terrorists gaining access to WMDs from rogue states like Iran, for anonymous proxy attacks against the West. Rational and responsible people analyze that threat and take measures to prevent it or pre-empt it. Like any adult would.

Others, like you, try to ignore the threat [head in sand] and marginalize the adults by implying they are fear-mongerers.

Look, I know you want your Free Health Care and you want it NOW. But its not going to do you much good if the Eastern Seaboard is a radiated No-Go Zone.

Rev,

Admittedly, it's been a decade or so, but I guess I didn't see the re-tooling of the factory (I think that's what it was) as a Deus ex machina. I suppose it is a bit of a cheat, though.
