"I’m frightened of eggs, worse than frightened, they revolt me."
"That white round thing without any holes … have you ever seen anything more revolting than an egg yolk breaking and spilling its yellow liquid? Blood is jolly, red. But egg yolk is yellow, revolting. I’ve never tasted it." --Alfred Hitchcock

``How like a goat one is when one laughs! The calm brow has disappeared to make way for two enormous fishes' eyes which (is it not deplorable?) ... which ... begin to shine like lighthouses!''

To crew complaints that Tallulah Bankhead's habit of not wearing underpants was creating camera angle problems in shooting Lifeboat, Alfred Hithcock said:
"I don't know if this is a matter for the costume department or the hairdresser."
See Britney there nothing new under the sun...or the moon...or errr...whatever.
hmm, funny, i would think that he then would have gone in a whole different direction with The Birds...
(cluck, cluck, cluck, BOOM?)
Two farm fresh eggs over easy with bacon toast and strong coffee. Heaven. Poor pathetic neurotic egg haters don't know what they're missing.
The appearance of eggs doesn't disgust me -- they're pretty interesting, actually -- but ugh! They taste nasty. Its a waste of a perfectly good (potential) chicken.
But it would be Hitch, yes, Hitch!, who would make egg salad on screen, wouldn't he? With the mayo and everything! And he would've taken malicious glee in filming you eat the egg salad, even worse! You, his cool blond! Yikes, will you now marry into royalty and live in Monoco? And do I get bonus points for analogizing you to Grace Kelly?
makes finding one's taxidermied dead mom in the basement seem almost tame, doesn't it?
Scroll about halfway down this page for the Toro tartare with raw quail egg, pine nuts, and soy jelly. From Element in Atlanta. They also do a sous vide egg for brunch that you crack open and suck down like a raw oyster.
The best dish we had at Uchi in Austin when we ordered the omakase style dinner was some sort of raw steak and caviar with a raw quail egg. We accepted everything -- things we'd never have picked from the menu -- and it was delicious. One of the best things I've ever eaten.
Eggs are disgusting- bitter, chalky, sulphurous- in any form, they taste the way farts smell.
Oh, that's the way to go.
Go to a restaurant and have the chef serve you whatever's good.
ricpic...yes! and grits along side. If I didn't fear for my life there would be no other meal than that breakfast, lunch and dinner.
"Omakase" Perfectly spelled (this time). A. Althouse is willing to learn, and remembers when taught. Making her blog thoughtful and witty, and attractive to trolls who are not. (And a few who are. But emphasis on "few".)
My favorite eggy delight: a few of the young'uns bashed together and some chicken and veggies all layered on top of a futon of glutinous rice, and all pressed for service into a finely crafted, substantially girthed bowl. Named: "Parents and Child in a (Big) Bowl"
p.s. And grits on the side.
If he doesn't like egg yolk, then maybe he'd prefer balut...

We accepted everything -- things we'd never have picked from the menu -- and it was delicious.
Then when in Atlanta, you have my restaurant recommendation, Element in Midtown. Here's some upcoming dinners we're on the books for:
SEPTEMBER 20 - ELEMENTAL DINNER: NITROGEN
OCTOBER 18 - ELEMENTAL DINNER: HELIUM
NOVEMBER 15 - ELEMENTAL DINNER: OXYGEN
ECEMBER 20 - ELEMENTAL DINNER: GOLD, FRANKENSENCE & MYRRH

Try Morimoto in Philly. Former Iron Chef Japanese. Truly amazing food.
And if you're in Madison this weekend, be sure to go to Willy Street this afternoon and see the Campbell Brothers.

It is true that Hitch was obsessed with elegant, icy blondes with uncertain temperaments....hmmmm.
Michael Farris: balut, along with BBQ'd monkey meat on a stick, both purchased from street vendors, got me through several Olongapo City nights, without which would have been otherwise nondescript bacchanalia. But then I've always been a meat and egg eater
I love drippy egg yolks, and dipping my toast in them. I love eggs benedict.
However, I was at a meeting this week where one of my colleagues was eating a deli-made, over-generous egg salad sandwich on white bread, which he had sitting on top of some paper wrapping and I had to move to the other end of the table.
I think I feel about mayonnaise the way Hitch felt about eggs.
