The movie is "I'm Not There" -- directed by the great Todd Haynes. Here's the viral video:
The portrayal is very "Don't Look Back"-style Bob. You know:
I love that Bob.
Hey! Love that Bob! Remember "Love that Bob":

I have a habit of posting in Dylan related threads here. When I saw this earlier today, I thought it very likely that you'd link to it. It's difficult to formulate an opinion about the film from such a short snippet - I'm not sure where the director is going with this. Cate does a credible Dylan but I hope the film has more to offer than just that.

I'm sure that the director is not sure where he's going with this either. Haynes made exactly one and 1/4 good films, "Safe" being the one and "Superstar: The Karen Carpenter Story" being the 1/4 (because it's a short). The rest of Mr Haynes' work ranges from the bland and feckless "Far From Heaven" to the insufferably clever and ultimately art-school-level trifle "Poison" to the embarrassingly awful "Velvet Goldmine". I don't hold much hope for this film.
But "Safe" is a masterpiece, and does everything that all his other work failed to do; a truly multifaceted philosophical horror movie in the tradition of "The Shining".
Gay and Transgendered Hollywood will love it because not only will homosexuals get to do their tongue thrusts down one another's throats or gaze meaningfully at their life partner or boy/girl toy du jour....
Now they get to continue past "The Crying Game" and "Boys Don't Cry" to nominate more GIRLs in guy roles and GUYs in girl roles (Travolta in Hairspray) for awards.
See, boys and girls, and movie goers of all ages! Transgender is incredibly commonplace in America! And, it's absolutely normal and admirable!! Honest!
How admirably PC!!
The gay agenda moves on. I guess you can only get so much mileage from NYTimes and Hollywood assertions that 43 clever linguists who were gay being in the US military would have "won the war" they simultaneously say is unwinnable...
You have to be young to put up with this dreck.
"The gay agenda moves on. I guess you can only get so much blah blah linguists blah blah Jews blah blah..."
Gosh, you are such a tiresome twat, Cedarford. Don't like it? Don't watch it!

Man, that absolutely drips with yearning and scorned bitterness! Did your boyfriend dump you?

Wow. Talk about alcoholic free associating...
Dobie Gillis. I love that guy.
I like Cate Blanchett, but something about her hands and her hand movements here don't work for me. Of course it would be silly of me to render a judgment on an unmade filmed based on a viral clip. But if it's representative of her portrayal, I suspect at least that part of the film won't be my cup of tea.
Just what WAS is about Dylan's younger countenance that made him so attractive? He's waifish and somewhat androgynous, as I have now realized, being that a Blanchette (a female) is able to pull off portraying him. Maybe that ambiguity (and that of his lyrics) was a lot of his appeal. But he was certainly appealing in a delicate but obstinate way.
