"Though both are polyamorous, they are not currently dating others.... 'We’re building the foundation of our marriage'..."

"... Carr said. 'And I think in order to be poly, you need to have a really, really good foundation.'"

The article opens like this:
Erin Lee Carr came across a striking photo on Hinge in August 2023 that she could not scroll past. It was of Michelle Toni Bruton, who’d had top surgery in 2018, shirtless on a horse.

“I’m going to kiss this person,” Carr told her friends.

Here's a Vulture article about Carr from 2 years ago, "Erin Lee Carr’s Criminal Mind."

“Criminal mind” = She works in the field of true crime documentaries.

Her late father is quoted there: "Erin is a reflexive bright-sider and a bit of a sensualist. When we went for a ride in the car when she was little, she would say, 'I love this world because there are so many things I love in it.' She is a kid, by now a person, who has always seen the glass as half full, and when it’s empty, simply finds a way to fill it herself."

Some of her father’s best advice, according to Carr, was, “be as ambitious and bold as you want and don’t let other people tone you down,” she says. “I had a very progressive dad. Very pro queerness. I was in love with my best friend in high school and everybody knew it and they were like … ‘Do you know it?’” She laughs as she scoops up noodles into her mouth with chopsticks. She knows it now.

That last paragraph is poorly written.

OK, so two weirdos found each other.

Sounds like the foundations of that marriage are quicksand and Elmer's Glue. I estimate 2 years tops before the polywannacracker divorce/overdose/broken chopsticks.

If you’re an old fart like me, there’s nothing new in this. Hippie era nonsense repackaged with a serious sounding name. Remember the Jefferson Airplane tune (I think written by David Crosby), “Triad?” This shit keeps popping up every generation, and every generation thinks it invented the crap, and it always fails. Like communism.

I also laugh as I scoop up noodles into my mouth with chopsticks and can think of no better way to do so.

….any of them, I guess…

Foundation being laid is stack of rubble pushed together without any thoughts of how the world or the humans who live in it work.

I'm so cliche, I prefer to laugh with salads.

By and large, people enjoy sex. Also, people enjoy disapproving of other people's sex lives. The pleasure is not so intense, but it's definitely pleasurable. This couple offers a fertile, multidimensional field for disapproval.......They're not like that nice young couple in Duxbury, Mass. You remember that nurse who recently strangled all her kids., She really had a bad day, but up to that time they were just the kind of people you want to see get married and raise a family.

I wish for everyone that they're able to find love and to be able to build a life. Life can be hard and cold, but it also can be joyful and satisfying.

Reading the New York Times, one would think that 80% of the U.S. population is homosexual.

Some persons believe they can abort the baby, cannibalize her profitable parts, sequester her carbon, and have her, too. Others are in a relationship without a burden of state or mind by design. Progressive: one step forward, three steps backward armed with a liberal license.

Althouse posts this dribble because she knows it's so triggering for you people. Does the name Pavlov ring an enabler?

Maybe she posts it knowing that you will be triggered by seeing 'you people' triggered.....

See, we don't talk about "decadence" anymore because it's all around us.

The pictures in the article suggested to me that Briton’s “top surgery” was (or was closely related to) a double masectomy. So why not call it a double masectomy? Ah! Trust Google to have the answer: “top surgery is technically a form of subcutaneous mastectomy (removing breast tissue), its primary goal is gender affirmation and aesthetic chest contouring rather than treating or preventing cancer.”. So it’s mostly in WHY upu indergo the surgery, not what the scalpel removes.

If Erin Carr were the child of talk radio's Howie Carr, that would make for one great sitcom.

Loving the world is great. But this feels like she's basically a dog who loves anything without depth. Just pure feeling. Which is fine. Dogs are great in that way. Can help anyone be supported. But it's neither deep nor free as suggested here. That dad never helped his daughter grow up. She's still the little girl but with adult-coded desires.

It's also a sign of a bougie grasp at sophistication, with the noodles and chopsticks closing exemplifying that.

But privileged folks have privileges and sometimes that includes being celebrated by similarly untethered bougie columnists. Celebrate celebrating!

Being the spawn of David Carr, she’s Effed for life.

We all love mismatched couples. In the rom coms we watch, it's always oddball relationships that work out. We don't expect a couple like the one in Pretty Woman to live happily ever after, but we're happy they hook up in the movies.

But this nonsense Professor Althouse references? I don't like it and, honestly, it's sad.

Presumably her mother is a Carr too, so that could make for some other wacky sitcom misadventures

Jerry Van Dyke would like a word.

Big Mike.
I was thinking about that just yesterday.
How the left will likely (if not already) use mastectomies as their excuse to vilify those who oppose "gender affirming care" for minors and teens - in the breast removal department.

"gender affirming" mutilation is not the same as fighting for your life because you have breast cancer.

One of them is the daughter of a NYT reporter. I'm not surprised. No wonder she's mentally ill.
